16 police recruits die in fatal auto accident in Kwara

16 newly recruited police officers were burnt to death while six others were critically injured yesterday Sunday January 20th when the 18-seater Hummer bus they were traveling in collided with a Mercedes Benz 190 in Omu Aran, Kwara State. The victims were said to be on their way to Nasarawa State when the accident occurred at about 10 yesterday morning.

The Mercedes Benz car, with regitration number AC 345 DKA had a locked steering and in an attempt by the driver to free it, the vehicle veered off to the other side of the road and the bus rammed into it. The bus carrying the police officers hit an electric pole and a house then burst into flame, killing most of its occupants. The driver of the Benz was not injured in the accident. The police are looking for him...
