  35. Hi Linda, I do enjoy reading your blog but I advise that you check for accuracy some of the posts .
The pictures put up in your blog as what happened in Calabar are not accurate, the only pic that is correct is the top left one(a group from Via Samba school Brasilia) the rest of the pictures are pictures from the T&T carnival.
I thought it was necessary to put the facts right.

  79. Presumably, by foreigners, you meant, 'Brazilians'? Btw, how much were they paid for the privilege of taking part in the carnival??? Cos these people no cheap oooo. As for Cecilia Agu and Omo Calabar@December 28, 2012 8:24 PM, going naked WAS part of African tradition. Does that mean that because our great-grandmothers went about naked in the past, they were immoral????? Please refresh on your history before commenting on this blog!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Everybody is talking about nudity and Nigerian culture, blah, blah, blah.....has it occurred to you that maybe that way of dressing is Brazilian culture? Can't you respect their culture? The fact that a woman wears few clothes does not make her a prostitute or of loose morals, neither is it an invitation for molestation or unwanted attention. After all, with all our Nigerian morals and 'decent' dressing, we still have prostitutes both in and outside the country, and people are still doing their business under the guise of 'having morals'. So, I wonder who the hypocrites are. Y'all need to get a life!

When did Africans start wearing clothes? The problem with Nigeria is too much religion yet there is so much theft, lying killing and corruption. You take away their human resources so let them use their woman resources.

Hotels in Calabar are full, taxis are making money beer joints are thriving the whole town is abuzz.better than waiting for monthly handouts from Abuja . Cross rivers is the only state that has taken its tourist potential seriously, bitch if you like but in the next few years this festival will be a must go on the world stage.

  94. Abeg all you holier than thous should shut up. Someone mentioned it earlier; instead of waiting for oil money handouts from those fucktards we votes for in Abuja they are creating revenue and employment in their state. But it is clear from most of the posts here y'all are drinking a tall cold glass of hatorade.

Come out with it most of the girls want to look like those girls, most of the guys will bang the shit out of them if given a chance(you won't :p).

On a serious note kudos to Cross River state government for its forward thinking in terms of development; this shows that there are so many sectors of our economy that are waiting to be exploited amend can be done well. Go to the carnival in Brazil and see how the carnival in Brazil and see how much money they are making.

Wait I forget, this is Nigeria where the main source off revenue is to steal it, scam it or fuck someone for it then go to church to make your darker then black souls feel better and to show everyone you say you do hamma.

Oh and to the most holy and pious sistas and brodas out there screaming nudity. Our ancestors sometimes went around naked before the white man came. Mine, yours everybody's.

    Is it paining you yet?

  95. I was in there at CALABAR carnival 2004. The trend of this our cultural heritage is changing. Cross River State and Nigeria in general are not known to expose the body to the nudity level.
