Ojukwu’s firm rejects Bianca as director

A Director of Ojukwu Transport Company Limited has said the wife of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu, Bianca, has no place on the directorship or trusteeship of the company.

Director, Mr. Ifeukwu Ojukwu, said on Monday that since OTL was owned by the late Sir Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the late Biafran warlord could not dictate who the trustees or directors of the company should be.

Ojukwu, who was the Ikemba of Nnewi, had directed, in his Will, that Bianca, should replace him as a trustee of OTL.

Ifeukwu said, “Bianca is neither a trustee member nor a Director of OTL and it is good to note that OTL is a different property from the things the late Ikemba Ojukwu had and the directorship cannot be transferred through a Will.”

The clarification by Ifeukwu, who is based in Boston, United States, came as counsel for the late Ikemba, Chief Emeka Onyemelukwe, insisted that the Will read last Friday at the Enugu State High Court Registrar was authentic and sacrosanct.

Onyemelukwe, who was reacting to a claim by Emeka Ojukwu Jnr. that the Will was manipulated, said  the Will was registered in the Enugu High Court on July 9, 2005, while the codicil, which was to give details and correct any mistakes in the Will, was dated December 16, 2009.

Onyemelukwe, who tendered documents at a press conference in Enugu to back his argument, stated that he had been close to the late Ojukwu since his return from exile in Cote d’Ivoire in 1982.

He said all Ojukwu’s legal papers were  still with him, including those of properties and chattels willed to Emeka Jnr, who claimed he did not know him as his father’s lawyer or friend.

Meanwhile, Ojukwu Jnr. has taken over his father’s residence in Nnewi, “according to the Igbo tradition that the first son would inherit his father’s house and compound on the event of his death.”
Ojukwu (Jnr.) said even if the Will had not covered the Nnewi residence, it was traditionally statutory that the first son inherits his father’s house.

He also said other contents of the Will could be constested in court.

Another civil war in the making.
The Ikemba should have willed Bianca to the first son. This would have prevented all the drama.

Let's examine some critical issues. If Ojukwu ws a Yoruba, d world wd hv witnessed an avalanche of concubines and unknown children surfacing from nowhere to fight over d loot of dia father. (Loot because they reap where they never sow). It is a regular occurrence in dia miserable lives. It'l b a cheery news to see a Yoruba man who has a peaceful ending.

They live false lives. They use juju at home, at work, at play, in d office, in d market, at school, in wooing women, in dia marriages, on dia childrn. They can jaz anything, anybody to achieve success.
Yorubas shamelessly engage in various abominable acts like incests and adulterous living. Even in this modern age, you will see a father-in-law and a father competing to sex dia daughter just to acquire stupid spiritual powers! Ignorance is indeed a disease. They are indeed backward.
Check out dia men, they wd rather live as parasites on dia own wives. The women live adulterous lives, bearing childrn all over d places. At d end of dia lives, it is disaster, with bastards as childrn who end up being miscreants in d society.

A will can be read but those alive can decide not to administer it or admit it to probate.

  61. It is rare for a wealthy man to die without d family fighting over his propertyz. Ojukwu doesn't even have much (what education can do to a man's mind: plenty props dsnt mean much). Bianca ignore the never-do-wells ur hubby was unfortunate to get as sons.

  62. I don't blame Emeka jnr for fighting for what rightfully belongs to him going by the tradition of igbo people.Every tribe has its own culture and tradition. Most of the property he is fighting for originally belonged to his grand father Louis ojukwu who was very wealthy and they were willed to ikemba as first son regardless of the fact that he was equally stubborn to his father. So why should ikemba deny his own son of his rights as first son too no matter d differences? There are certain things that one shouldn't do, for watever reason, once u do them there will be no peace. It is even written in d bible, a good father should leave an inheritance for his children and even grand children and not for his wife. Louis ojukwu was a good man. I still have this feeling that Bianca will eventually remarry cuz she is still very young. So why not allow peace reign?

  66. Even if bianca remarries the will stipulates that she will forfeit onlyt the pieces of land in nnewi. All d other juicy property remain hers. That's the correct interpretation. Ojukwu disinherited his son....gbam

  67. First son this, and first son that,,,,,,,Na waoh!! We are discussing ojukwu and his family because Ojukwu was wealthy enough to acquire property here and there and built his own village house. Now, i need a response from the followers of this igbo tradition. Am igbo but i know its only igbos that attach so much importance to SONS. In a case where a father was not able to bulid a family house in the village, residing in a 'hut' left by his own father and when the children are grown, then a daughter(probably the 1st daughter) decides to help put up a better and modern house in the village for her parents - or lets even say the second son helped also in building the family house (pls note, no contribution from the first son because he is lazy and selfish) and at the end of the day, their father dies without a 'Will', is it traditionally and morally right for the first son to claim ownership of the family house to the extent of denying the sisters including the one that built the house a room to stay when they visit the village? Secondly, if the tradition says the first son inherits the family no matter how and who built it, dont we think that this will discourage sibblings (especially women) who are in a better position to give their parents comfort from doing so? Pls, i need clarifications on this by readers because i know that so many families are passing through this.

    1. Evry Ibo man/woman is a hussler and wants to mk a mark & so is nt deterred. Anybody, mother, 1st or last son, 1st or last or only daughter, can build any house/mansion and such a house remains his/her property unless he/she voluntarily relinguishes it. Irrespective of hw wealthy d 1st son mayb, he's to succeed d father & is nt entitled to anytin outside d father's belonging or wealth. Period! Anytin other dan dis, is peculiar to ur family & so u don't need to generalise it. Go meet ur Eze/Igwe or Pastor to settle it.

  69. Before you play the tribalistic card, read well and make your research.stop talking from what you see in these trashy naija movies.there is no tribe in nigeria or even all over the world where a prominent man dies that his property is not likely to be contested....probate matters did not originate from Nigeria.it happens even in your village, but I doubt you know the road to that juju-infested place.

Now on the directorship, anyone with half a sense on legal issues will know that directorship cannot be inherited neither can companies pay widows any due.whatever the company does must be contained in thier articles of association and anything that is not contained there is void.companies also have thier inner rules contained in the article on how to change/replace deceased directors.shares can be easily inherited but not so with directorship.refer to your companies and allied matters act before castigating them.

Then if you all have read the ojukwu's will,he never gave Bianca the nnewi ancestral home.it was not provided for in the will, therefore,it will be resolved with customary law and the nnewi customary laws therefore the son has not erred in anyway n there is no contest whatsoever.

Be wise.dont be too quick to call other people's customs barbaric without even knowing your own.you may be surprised @ what you may find.

  71. @ anon 5:16, just sharrap ur stinking dirty mouth. Why don't u go and collect everything for d stupid first son. So becos he is d first born he has two head cos tradition said he can own everything while others go hungry. Do u people consider bianca children or other widows like her whose children are made to suffer in abject poverty cus of some stupid tradition dat promote greed and wickedness. What ojukwu did is wat every other igbo man should follow and do away wit d issue of first son owns it all while the oda children live in poverty especially if d first son is a real selfish man and won't consider is sibling. Igbo culture stink. Imagine, u igbo people throwing out a widow cus her children re female and his brother inheriting is poverty! that is wicked. Igbo people change your tradition and culture to favour everybody.

    1. U must b very stupid to state dat d Ibos bestow dia inheritance only on d 1st son and throw out d widow. Yet u die to fall in love & marry d Ibos.
If u'r nt worthless, u shd hv mentioned d name of dat ur wicked, greedy, disgusting, dirty & juju infested tribe.
Channel ur irritation & grievance to ur disgruntled & abusive tribe, who can't mk a good home. If u can't do dis, go take a dive straight into Lagos lagoon to cool off ur ranting.
Disgruntled & worthless set of ppl who do nt see any gd in oda ppl.

  75. @ Anon 8.56, I think u are the biggest fool on planet earth! Igbo culture stinks, come and change it for us. Useless human being. If u guys don't have culture and tradition sorry we do and we go by it. If u don't like it go to hell! In igbo culture certain property belong to d first son and its not contestable will or no will.

  76. If Ojukwu really loved this Bianca why didn't he set her up very well. Like setting up a business for her in her personal name? Knowing fully well the tradition of where he comes from?how can he give all the money in his account to her and so many other things to her what about the children from the first woman? Are they bastards? The fact that he had issues with their mum doesn't mean he should transfer it to his kids. Truth be told.

  77. @ ananymous dec 4, 5.16pm! Pls hold it ur argument holds no water, even if she remarry will she do dat wit her kids, d children forever remains Ojikwu's, so let the right thing be done, and if she didn't what happens? D man's WILL should be respected, GBAM!!!!!!!
