Police say Chinedu, who played for the Nigerian team that qualified for this year's Olympic Games in London, was trying to break into a home on Rio Grande Street in Plano, Texas with an accomplice when he was shot dead by the home owner.
Chinedu and another individual allegedly entered the house by breaking the glass patio door. The home owner shot Chinedu, killing him instantly, while his accomplice escaped.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation posted a statement saying that the 29-year-old athlete played basketball for the team that qualified for the London 2012 Olympics. However, Onyeuku was not on the Olympic roster and did not actually compete.
The statement reads: 'His passion for playing with D’Tigers was deep-seated and he will be greatly missed. The federation joins his family and team mates to mourn a departed son, father, husband and great patriot
He's not here to defend himself. What if he went to collect money he was owed and the debtor decided to frame him? They need to investigate :(
ReplyDeleteMy Igbo brothers. The only thing they know is robbery and rituals. God will help us.

ReplyDeleteIgbo men are the biggest criminals anyways so no surprise there! Horrible mannerless, wicked tribe!
ReplyDeleteTake your misery to another blog. Its people like you that give this blog bad image and deter others from commenting. Linda is igbo in case you don't know ok. Wonder why she even posted your comment.
DeleteLinda, stop posting all these racists comments. That's why most enlightened people prefer bella naija. Comments are usually focused on the topic and people give constructive criticisms.
A lot of people that comment on lindas blog are jobless, students, angry wives, unhappy husbands, jilted spouses, ethnocentric morons! Etc infact this people make up 90% of the bloggers. Its d same in naira land, I think its even worse there but lindas blog is overtaking it. The remaining 10% no still gbadun including me! Just that some Nigerians are more crazy than others.
DeleteMy condolences to his family. Texas is the wrong state to try breaking into a house, it's one of the states in the U.S that citizens have the right to bear arms & that they do.
ReplyDeletechaaaii...In Ghanians Voice....."Thank GOD,,I am not a NigeriA"........hehehehe
ReplyDeleteYou are not a nigerian yet u had d guts to speak ill of a tribe in Nigeria in another post? Tsheeeew u have a problem!
DeleteLies, why will he want to steal?a prominent basket baller for that matter.there is more to this.Rip
ReplyDeleteThere is more to this story, is there a prior relationship between the deceased and the killer? If any, what were the issues at hand before this unfortunate incidence?
ReplyDeleteI have a strong conviction that this dude was murdered.
Anyway, rest in peace dude... May Almighty God grant his entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Gone too soon!
Even if he was not trying to 'rob the house' going to a house in Texas without using the front door is a suicide mission ooo! Them ppls dont play!!!
ReplyDeleteSad story all around.
ReplyDelete@Prince Charming i can see you are part of the Nigerians who talk without thinking. There is always 2 sides to a story so no matter how a story is told from one side you don't judge until you hear the other side and if for any reason you don't get to hear the other side then you leave the story and don't pass judgement. It is said that when a fool keeps his silence he is counted as wise. Proverbs 17:28
ReplyDeleteProof Please
ReplyDeleteI don't believe this story... anyone on this blog who has already condemned him is no different from those who killed those boys in aluu...the same mind set.
ReplyDeletePolice were dispatched to a reported burglary in the 1500 block of Rio Grande Drive around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. When police arrived, Onyeuku, 29, was found shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
ReplyDelete“It’s a pretty complicated investigation,” said Tilley. “The delay was based on a lot of critical information and evidence that needed to be gathered.”
It appears there is cover up somewhere. The story is NOT TRUE. He was not a "robber".
This is simply a result of keeping bad company.
Dallas is a VERY RACIST TOWN.
A lot of Nigerians do this in the U.S to make ends meet. I actually know someone that confided in me that he used to rob people when he was abroad becos he didnt have.
ReplyDeleteIts just an unfortunate incident. Stealing can never be justified.
a great father son and patriot who was breaking into someone's home?
ReplyDeleteLemme just tell you guys, its legal to shoot anybody trespassing on ur land in texas. So don't go waka waka on somebody elses lawn, they will shoot ur ass and be right with the law.
ReplyDeleteDo not mess with Texas, it is legal to own a firearm, and breaking into someone's home for that matter. Rip chinedu!
ReplyDeleteErmmm.. Tx has laws allowing homeowners to shoot intruders. Question is what was he doing there?
ReplyDeletehe died at point of duty....
ReplyDeleteIncomplete story
ReplyDeleteWHAT HE DID WAS BAD. I'm not sure why i feel so sorry for him. you dont go robbing others especially not in racist texas where they kill mexicans and blacks on a regular and typically get away with it. I feel so bad for his family. sad
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! What prompted this guy to act in such manner? If truly he was a burgley then that serves him right. Food for tought- " we shouldd be contended with the little we have". And for the federal govt saying he wasn't on the olympic roaster? So f*cking what? But he was amoung the D-Tigers?
ReplyDeleteThe other one escaped?...what a story! Sad he's no more to defend himself but i cannot buy the fake made up story that this young talented and professional man could have tried to break into a house. Only God can judge. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteIbo pple again....#runsaway
ReplyDeletethere's more to this story, am sure he didnt just go to rob someone with a reputation like dat, i mean this guy's a professional player, am sure he's got some money of his own, they just decided to protect one of their own and framed a robbery on him, rather than facing an unjustified shooting
ReplyDeleteTexas? Wrong place to carry out such crazy act. Though I knw them to be hostile to blacks so they need just a ill reason to use their license to shoot. If its true though! Let him rest in hell for soilin dis country even more
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean how could one have been killed and the other escaped? How is that not logical? But seriously though, robbing in trigger-happy Texas? That's not smart at aaaaalllll
ReplyDeleteOnly God knows wat happened
ReplyDeleteDis is just another panther story.dat dude has done nothin wrong, he was. Killed and dey have to give it a name, ROBERY! Absolute bullshit somethings will never change!.
ReplyDeleteI don't belive dis story Nigerian ambassdor should go investigate dis matter
ReplyDeleteSad.. I remember him so well cos I followed their game during the olympic game.. We shouldn't jump into conclusion yet till we get the full detail of the story..
ReplyDeletehttp://meenahz.blogspot.com
Big lie.. America and their conspiracy theories!
ReplyDeletePeople, so after the Aluu insidence you still have not learnt to stop jumping into conclusion. There are multiple sides to every story so don't be in a hurry to call someone you don't know names. Let's see how the story unfolds. There are so many false accusations of black guys especially in the US. This story does not add up. Saying that I smell a rat is an understatement; I smell a skunk
ReplyDeleteAnother black man shot dead and a Nigerian to booth. Robbery my a**!!!
ReplyDeleteGet the so called partner and investigate the Sh**!!!
If it were a Caucasian involved investigations would have started.
You all stop this crap with bad mouthing Nigeria/ns.
I saw this news yesterday and I still dont believe it. I went and read through the guy's twitter, saw his facebook page, and this was clearly a man who loved his family, especially his sons. One of his last tweets was at his little boy's football game. Being in the developmental league, even though they dont pay much, he had a job and they pay enough to take care of bills. He wasnt armed either!
ReplyDeleteI dont know him, but I do know the real story will eventually come out, regarding whose house it was, and the person that was supposedly with him. What we will see is that it was someone he knew, and that it wasnt a robbery.
May God comfort his sons, and the rest of his family.
Stupid igbo people just like to disgrace nigeria with their idiocracy..kmtt its just a shame.
ReplyDeleteJust like ur Yoruba tribe tarnishes Nigeria image with dia juju & ritual killings!
DeleteIf this wasn't a case of robbery, then the accomplice would have come forward.
ReplyDeleteIf truly there was an accomplice or even a robbery in the 1st place?
DeletePlano Police Officer David Tilley has confirmed that Chinedu Onyeuku was shot and killed by a resident after Onyeuku allegedly smashed a glass patio door and entered the Plano residence.
ReplyDeletePolice were dispatched to a reported burglary in the 1500 block of Rio Grande Drive around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. When police arrived, Onyeuku, 29, was found shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It’s a pretty complicated investigation,” said Tilley. “The delay was based on a lot of critical information and evidence that needed to be gathered.”
It appears more of a case of keeping BAD COMPANY and hanging out at the WRONG Place and Time !!!
The guy is not a THIEF!
Dallas is a known racist Town !!
i'm not saying its right to kill someone, but, he was attempting to rob according to the info. If i were in that situation i will pull the trigger as well... not every death is unjustified like the ALUU incident!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why some people daft, can't some peeps think, there's no enough evidence yet, and yet some pple yaning dust say he thief, stupid unlucky nigerian like una, person with such a promising career, I wonder if some of una sabi read sef. God continue to save us from all dis fucking Racist, same thing happened to a 19 year old dude in FL, shot someone bcos he was playing loud in the car wtf.
ReplyDeletenice Gucci hat...thats all i see..lol
ReplyDeleteI feel for his family, esp wife and kids. just wondering would push him to robbery..
ReplyDeletethe guy was not in that house to rob am very sure, i have lived in that area before
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately d guy can't tell us wat rili went down! RIP. Very unfortunate, promising young man.
ReplyDeleteI believe der is more 2 dis dan meets d eyes, afta all he's nt here 2 defend himsef. Der4 don't be in a hurry 2 condemn him. Angelic.
ReplyDeleteThis story is totally incomplete and a total lie. This should not be swept under the carpet and Linda why u com use this kinda picture sef!
ReplyDeletedere is more 2 dis ish dan wat meets d eyes,am too sure of it,its so easy 2 condemn a dead man cuz he cant defend any allegations against him plus,he can b dat broke as 2 burgle 4 heaven's sake,he is a pro bball player.
ReplyDeleteDon't mess with Texas
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad...some of my relations have gone to the wake this evening
ReplyDeleteThe story sounds hollow and incomplete, would love to hear the accomplices side of the story.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Houston(Texas)for 6months where I had my baby and I didn't realise or felt any danger there, although I read the dailies frequently where I saw drive-by shooting etc Nigerians(ibos in particular)i have met,am not being tribalistic make it a habit to soil the country's image(I don't know about this Chinedu and am not insinuating he stole),they will cheat foreigners(even their fellow Nigerian brothers)without any iota of decency.I have been their victim many times, they refused to go back to Nigeria! When they sell items, its most likely fake,if you challenge them, they will claim you did not buy it from them! The most disgusting one was when I went to Switzerland for a holiday with my husband, some ibo boys where trying to con a lady(to think they are yoruba)by speaking yoruba, worst of all with an ibo accent! My husband who lived in California(before we met)heard of Nigerians who actually break in people's homes when owners go to work!one was lucky bc he thought owner was away, when he knocked, owner was sleeping only for him to enter and owner woke up!He was lucky he escaped. My point, although I live in SA now,I plead with the Nigerian govt to beg embassies to avoid all these jobless boys leaving the country, the Nigerian image all over the world has been messed up,it is affecting educated, hard working people like us and even our kids schooling abroad. These ibo boys(only bad ones) all over the world especially in South Africa should be deported back home. These are the same ones abusing Jonathan,Babangida,Alakija etc when they themselves are full blooded Nigerian citizens who are REAl dangerous criminals!RIP Chinedu, his might be a case of frame up etc but other bad eggs are not helping matters anyway.
ReplyDeleteGet da accomplice and interogate him...ther is more to this story.
ReplyDeleteBut whyyyyyyy???????? Smdh!!!!!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is around the corner. nna bros wanted to show back in naija as a bigger boy. too much money things but unfortunately.......
ReplyDeleteDid I hear someone say Roberring? 21 Gun Salute... U must really be Sexily & Grammatically
ReplyDeleteENDOWED....nice 1 keep it up...
this story is not believable. am sure dere is more to ds. Igbo ppl dont steal, dey work 4 dia money.
ReplyDeleteAbi you stayed in texas for 6 mths, you didnt live there please stop bringing in tribalistic nonsense! When people are talking about living somewhere, its people like you that will talk. Houston is a good 3 hrs drive from Dallas, so why bring it up? I've lived in the US most of my life, and seen the bad among both Igbo and Yoruba folks. My friend's bro who was deported for odu was yoruba. My friend's relative who got in trouble for same thing was Igbo.
ReplyDeleteThis story is incredible, surely there's more it but its unfortunate the dead can't speak. Another Aluu setting...
ReplyDeleteI live in Dallas and I am sure it wasn't a robbery incident, we live in a redneck city where blacks are still seen as dogs. I hope the Dallas police department will investigate this case and unfold the mysterious loss of a this wasted talent.
ReplyDeleteDats right broh
ReplyDelete
