Anyway, she went into the oil business many years back; she has an oil bloc that pulls in N157 million a day. Yes, you read right! She is the Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil and Gas limited and has emerged the richest woman in Africa according to Forbes November 2012 edition, with a net worth of $600million, which is about N94 billion.
The 61 year old former FADAN president is married and has four boys.

ReplyDeleteAnd to think that in her interview in Genevieve mag, she said that no one has it all...well she has a WHOLE LOT
ReplyDeleteOn a 2nd tot, she may be right...money does not buy everything.
No hate o, but how did she manage to get an oil bloc? That is about the hardest thing to get in Nigeria. Thousands of companies and investors have tried to get them but have lost them to retired generals and those former governors/heads of state.
ReplyDeleteThrough Babagida. She got it during his regime, as stated in the Forbes article.
DeleteI luv her, she is my role model!
ReplyDeleteShe is favored.she looks good too.soonest,u will be the richest in africa linda.don't relax oo.kip pushing!!!

ReplyDeleteChoiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!
she looks fab at 61. And hey "oil money" say no more! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the attire on the cover...please who made it.
ReplyDeleteShe was maryam babangidas former tailor na!
ReplyDeleteOnly in Naija will someone make so much money simply because of their "connections". I've said it many times - in Nigeria there are very few business men like Dangote who deserve to be respected. Dangote does business that employs thousands of people. Other businessmen and women only just steal from Nigeria's coffers. The fewer people like Mrs. Alakija there are in Nigeria, the better for us all - let us stop glorifying her like.
ReplyDeleteWOW..that's all av got to say!
ReplyDeleteBloody rogue! All these armchair millionaires! Its come knowledge how she got her oil bloc! Lindiwe, if u like, no post ma comment cos u model for am before!.....Tripple A to da M.
ReplyDeleteI tap into this woman's annointing IJN..see how sweet she looks.chai
ReplyDeleteSe went into oil business and now has an oil bloc? How? Can someone share her story Biko because I want to go into oil business too o.
ReplyDeleteFashion designing to owning oil bloc?
Someone please help me out o. I cannot come and die. I want to go into oil business too oooo...
Ok.I think for d first time,I'd comment on dis blog...we really need such woman in africa..I love her and the fact dat she also has a very supporting husband.Am going to be like her in d nxt future,by d grace of God.Amen
ReplyDeleteA Yoruba woman making Africa proud! When we rock, we rock!
ReplyDeleteBet linda, kilode....so u can take out time to let us know she has four boys, but u cld now give us the names n info abt the boys, so what ® we supposed to use the info she has fours boys to do...mchew
ReplyDeletelinda is it true that she is the mother to Dj xclusive?
ReplyDeleteWow....I love her, she is beautiful and got the brain...I want her...kiss
ReplyDeletewhy didn't God put me in such family?
ReplyDeleteGood life...
Nedu20, you're a thief
DeleteFool
DeleteWhoa! That's so real cash woman! I so look up to her.
ReplyDeleteYou see how we still celebrate corruption.....Linda u are here trying so hard to be identified with!
ReplyDeleteHow did she get an oil block?
Dat question will only be answered if u care to read abt d corruption dat goes on in the petroleum upstream sector!
All dat glitters is gold in naija...
Linda, please stop celebrating people with links to criminals. No secrets about the source of her wealth. How can IBB "dash"one person a natural resource that belongs to all of us in this country?????? .And without a conscience, she gleefully accepted.Nigerians are tired of being deprived. If you continue to brown nose these idiots linda, you wont be spared when the revolution begins. And it is imminent...
ReplyDeletewow..like ds kinda news...it inspires me..
ReplyDeleteThe question we should ask as suffering Nigerian is " HOW did a fashion designer WIN an Oil block"
ReplyDeleteYet are are celebrating the same corruption that has made our roads not motorable, our hospital ;death centers, our Taps dry !!
I need some explanation please
You win it by been IBB wife tailor and connected to you. That way they dash u something that is national treasure which belongs to the massess.....
DeleteLinda pls take ur time and stop celebrating such
C'mon linda if u know this woman very well,ud know her story..her kind of wealth is the type that'll send you to hell no matter how much good u do with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with all d condemnation...Nigerians sef ..so u'ol shld tell me dt if ure d one they give an oil bloc u'ld say Ϟo abi...mtsw!!! Let's learn 2 appreciate ppl who are succeeding nd leave judgment for God.. Linda tnx a lot one day u'ld b more than celebrated lyk dis...Nyc job!g
ReplyDeleteWatched her interview on CNN a while back. Really inspired me!
ReplyDeleteLinda tell this woman's story well. She started in Finance, became the first head of corporate affairs at International Merchant Bank. Her father was wealthy.
ReplyDeleteDon't make it sound like some random fashion designer just acquired an oil block.
I love her, she is beautiful, photogenic, cute . I wish she is mine.
ReplyDeleteMost commentators are right on this one- why and how should this lady have an oil bloc?..how much tax does she pay to the government..what charities has she floated or known to have supported..that is what makes the basis of celebrating anyone.
ReplyDeleteDepravity seems to have attained new heights in Nigeria..I thought Linda was a cut above the rest..she should have known better than to attempt to celebrate a renegade thief on this blog. Linda please use your platform to promote objectivity and FairPlay - you are educated!
Babaginda just dashed her one of Nigeria's most prolific oil blocks ... Just like that , should it not be owned by the state and revenue acheived used for road , hospital , government schools and all..
ReplyDeleteGod is still on the throne sha , one day he will liberate us from all this
I want to use this medium to thank the woman, she has been d one paying the sch fees of my cousins thru her Rose of sharon foundation, my sis told me they are so many of them on the scholarship list.
ReplyDeleteMy cousins even attend private schools and she pays (over 4yrs) all their fees. Mind u she does it for the widows. Thank u ma! U are indeed d richest since u are touching lives. LAMI
She paid for private school for over 4years .... Ok, how much does that equate to. Her charity effort for a year is like one hundred of what she is getting in one day. I repeat one day ...... No biggie then . She does one or two charity but not that much so leave story .
Deleteoh seen, see me already searching google all day thinking she still has a single daughter i can famz, well i heard she is the famous tailor IBB gave an oil block in 1993, well all that is story, as long as bank account is speaking. Come ot think of it i wonder how much IBB is worth
ReplyDeleteMy first and probably only time to comment on this blog.
ReplyDelete1. Mrs Alakija never worked for the oil block - she got it free of charge
2. She was Maryam Babangida's fashion designer and IBB gave her the oil block. How shameful!!! A whole nation's natural resource given to just one person. IBB has a lot to answer to God.
3. She might have been successful at this, but it would be wise that she should give back to the nation she has single handedly beneffited from, while million others are suffering.
4. I wish all of the best. To each - their own!
Linda point of correction, four men not boys. One of them is married now ooooo. Married this year sha
ReplyDeletei have herd about this woman's gist in my office before o, she is so blessed..
ReplyDeletesee how oil dat doesnt belong to her but everyone is fetching money for one person. nna na wah o
ReplyDeleteAll ranting. She went to school- read sec. Studies, worked in a bank. Went back to the UK to study fashion..... Infact google her- I no fit type.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, she's a philanthropist.
Famfa Oil and Gas? Where is her husband? Does she have one? Ok, ok....who is her boyfriend? I love Nigeria. And u, Linda, you exhibit a certain character that worries me.
ReplyDeleteShameful how we celebrate ill gotten wealth , even to the point of been featured on CNN and forbes..... It is morally right for IBB to award oil blocks that belong to the nation to individuals. These individuals then collect royaties everymonth for doing BASICALLY NOTHING .
ReplyDeleteThis is a country full of bad roads, no jobs, no good government hospitals the list is endless. Imagine if this 157 million naira daily is put into our economy and use to build amenities and opportunites for job creation.
****one day one day sha, God will hear our cry and free us from all this. How many people is Famfa Oil and Gas limited EMPLOYING . Instead the majority of the profit is going into one pocket and she is been featured as Africa Richest Woman . NEXT PLS
QMoney; she's not their mum. But the Alakijas are all related.
ReplyDeleteSis., *Ama marry her daughter, if she had one* thought; Lol! #just_joking
ReplyDeleteKindly, visit: http://chiboychuks.blogspot.com
@ ANON November 27, 2012 4:15 PM yes she got it free but if you watched her interview on CNN she was honest enough to admit that where the oil block was located was on a dead spot. A dead spot for many many years until it suddenly opened up and started producing oil.
ReplyDeleteShe is well read, and is one of the pioneers in fashion, before oil she had made a nmae for herself. Dangote is the richest man in Africa and even though we see his Dangote group do we know what lies beneath it all? I especially shiver when i see ladies on this blog belittle their own kind. If Linda had posted a man na so so praise him go get. Women why are we our own worst enemy?celebrate her and leave how she got her money to God. And for the chauvinistic men here, stop being daft and go make your own cash.
This is hardly a success story that someone can learn from regarding building an empire .....
ReplyDeleteA corrupt Leader IBB gave her an oil block and that turned her into a billionaire . What is worth celebrating here???? . Depriving the masses inorder to enrich ones self. No no , this should not be featured in Forbes at all. Shame on forbes magazine and shame on linda for posting this ......
My Prayer is that we will have a sensible Government one day that will clean up nigeria and take back all that has been stolen from us. Amen amen . it will come to pass and that is what we will celebrate .
Hmmmm which Rose of Sharon no b dis 1 wey dey Surulere? abegMrs Alakija when u release money to help this widows children ensure it gets to dem o, dat ur Mr Victor is conniving som o nd making it look like ur foundation is nt keeping its words i remember my cousin was promised dat her school fees 4 her admission into unilag earlier dis yr will be paid by the foundation bt since august she submitted her letter til now na come 2day come 2moro Mr victor dey talk,i never knew a respected person like dis owns d foundation tot it was a scam. its ovious those in charge r fraudulent, victor wey stil dey alive e don dey let him family dey chop widow nd dia children entitlement na cause b dat o. kudos to u Mrs Alakija 4those dat av benefited sha even thogh say i no knw dem.
ReplyDeleteONLY IN 9JA.....
ReplyDeleteWHERE YOU CELEBRATE DIFFERENT SHADE OF THIEVES DISGUISED AS CIVIL SERVANTS, MILITARY OFFICERS, POLITICIANS, OIL MAGNETS...ONLY IN 9JA.
LATE MARYMAM BABANGIDA'S TAILOR HOLDING AN OIL BLOCK IN TRUST.....FOR WHO NOW. NA THAT PERSON YOU LINDA WAN MAKE WE DEY CELEBRATE HER 'HARD WORK& BRAIN' AND DEY DANCE KOKOMA FOR... AHH, O MA SE O.
GOD NO GO FORGIVE SO MANY PEOPLE FOR THIS COUNTRY O
Maryam Babangida dash am the oil bloc back in the days when she was her taylor.
ReplyDeleteI know a thousand and one thing about this lady; I am not just in the mood to type long story.
IBB didnt dash her a bloc http://www.forbes.com/profile/folorunsho-alakija/
ReplyDeleteSo riddle me this... How does a seamstress for Maryam Babangida get an oil bloc?
ReplyDeleteSo riddle me this... How does a seamstress for Maryam Babangida get an oil bloc?
ReplyDeleteI still dont get why individuals will own rights to an oil block. Oils is the nation national reserve and resource.
ReplyDeleteIt should be given to the federal Government and the funds received allocated . Instead She owns 60% and chevron owns 40% .
Father Lord hear our prayers one day in the hell hole called Nigeria and deliver us . EFCC where you are suppose to act you wont act . This is plain wrong , they cant come out and claim this money is honestly earned . DID THEY WORK FOR IT ,It is a pity .
she is my anty shaa, from king solomon's family. still the richest king on earth.
ReplyDeleteAwon envious people! Who worked for oil block in Nigeria. If dem dash you say no and suffer forever.
ReplyDeleteThis woman is lucky and it was her good behaviour that got her to where she is today. Her husband was a rich man anyway.
Ibb didn't just dash her an oil bloc, she was Maryam's fashion-consultant but beyond all that was the 'different' type of business she did for the former 1st lady, same as Bole Shagaya who was consultant extra-ordinaire on powder-related matters. The late mrs Babangida's dealings were the reason her husband overthrew Buhari & Idiagbon or she'd have been jailed and possibly executed by firing squad which was the norm then for people in her line of business.Having said that,Nigerians should be mindful what they wish for.Linda u may or may not post this comment,it's ur prerogative!
ReplyDeleteIs Linda screening comments? Because I know this woman has plenty dirt
ReplyDeletePlease I only have 1 favor to ask you guys how in Heaven's name do I own one of those oil blocks. I am sooo inspired right now it is not even funny. She looks great
ReplyDeleteShes is a Cabal Finish
ReplyDeleteAnonymous November 27, 2012 1:23 PM, Did Linda mention their name? She said 4 boys is that too much to say.
ReplyDeleteOga o. Mshewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
So Many bitter Nigerians, SMH. Celebrate others, Others would celebrate you. When she was a "nobody" no one said anytyn, now she's wealthy,y'all are googling her. N
ReplyDeleteWelcome o 'unbitter' Nigerian.A slave in ur own father's house
DeleteDo you guys think she went under the knife to get this figure/ oga o her body is banging
ReplyDeleteall these our rich people and their kids end up becoming entertainers. Cant they become doctors, surgeons, engineer, architects? afterall they have the money to buy the best education anyone can ask for. Tolu Oniru, Davido, these two Alajija boys you all just mentioned, naeto C. The Ibru chick, So many rich pedigree children doing nonsense occupation
ReplyDeleteBabagunda has a lot to answer to God....he went about sharing oil blocks to his friends like as if oil blocks is his personal property....
ReplyDeleteAll those saying turn a blind eye at the source of wealth and just celebrate . BIG SHAME TO YOU, U r the part of the reason why nigeria is so messed up. Sjame on Forbes and CNN
RICHEST MAN IN AFRICA=NIGERIAN
ReplyDeleteRICHEST WOMAN IN AFRICA=NIGERIAN
simply means we are REally gulping this money HEHE.
y wont you say she has four children?after you will say you are educated but you still talk shit about gender.if she had four daughter would you have said she has four daughters?hisss!!my mother too has seven sons and just me as her daughter.STOP SAYING SHIT LIKE THIS,having boys isnt an achievement.
ReplyDeleteitalktoomuch; they all have their certificates lying down. The day they want to work they don't have a problem. Naeto has an MSC, Jide Alakija a Phd. You know why they aren't working because they aren't struggling like you for bank and hospital jobs. They are doing what they love. Nonsense occupation you said but they have more money in the bank than you doing your 9 to 5.
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTE BS FROM FORBES,COS THERE R MANY WOMEN WHO ARE SILENT AND MORE WEALTHY THAN HER THAT DON"T DISPLAY THEIR EARNINGS..E.G IF U WANT TO HERE AN INSPIRING SUCCESS STORY OF A HARD WORKING,TOUGH LADY WHO HAS BEEN IN THE OIL AND MANY OTHER BUSINESS SINCE SHE WAS 25 WITH HER(SPG-SEA PETROLEUM AND GAS CO)AND NOW THE AVIATION MINISTER, THEN TALK OF STELLA ODUA. I SAY AGAIN BS..GOODDAY!
ReplyDeleteCapo de-Tutti i said it above drugs. plus they initiate them into their covens. Ogboni and all. Don't want this type of blood wealth ejo.
ReplyDeletePeople will always talk but that does not make it true. For those interested in her story, her father was the wealthy Otunba Ogbara from Ikorodu. She went to school in England at the age of 8 & also later studied secretarial studies in Pitman College in the UK. She worked in banking first as corporate secretary to four CEOs in IMB Bank & then as head of Corporate Affairs & Treasury. Before she moved to Fashion Designing in 1986.
ReplyDeleteShe worked in IMB Bank with the likes of Suzanne Iroche, Rotimi Williams, Ebitimi Banigo. As for Famfa, it was incorporated in 1991 but got allocation in 1993. Did not start producing Oil until 2008. It has been a long and tortous journey to production if you want to know the truth. I salute Famfa for its perseverance.
Ahmed ku ise, thank you for the story. However, d oil block she collected na her papa own am before? Yes or no?
DeleteLinda to build a succesful blogempire you need to know how to use the right words and get ur facts. There was so much disconnection in this story, mrs alakija might hv gotten the oil block somehow but not oil blocks lead to success, what she did was a strategic investment in that famfa oil own a percent of agbami oilfield manage by chevron which the first deepoffshore field in nigeria. At the time i think nobody might hv believed that crude oil will be find in deepwater. That oilfield is located very far in the atlantic ocean. It was great risk taken chevron and also for famfa oil. So pple should know that to attain this type of fortune you must be smart, calculative, and hv knowlegdeable pple around you.
ReplyDeletePoint still remains; why should an individual collect oil block just like that? Does it belong to her father?
ReplyDeleteGod bless you . Is it IBB family property that he has the right to share to his friends.
ReplyDeleteOne day one day we will have a revolution and claim back to the masses what God gave them as natural resources ,,
All you glorifying thieves , well done i hail una .i am all for celebrating hard working earned wealth , but let call a spade a spade. This is not honest wealth , If IBB was not corrupted the oil blocks wont be allocated to individuals in the first place.
Wow so after my own research. I see yeah she's Jide and Rotimi (DJ Xclusive)'s mumsie. She was indeed Maryam Babingida's tailor, and IBB did indeed give her the oil well/bloc. It took decades to get the oil well moving, it started operating in 2008 or so. It is managed by Chevron, and Famfa (their company) gets $1m a day!!!! Jehovah Bu Eze! Jesus is Lord! So basically $365m a year...
ReplyDeleteSo back to IBB, if he could dash her 1 oil bloc, how many does he himself have? 30? 50?
If Maryam could dash her tailor one, how many did she/ibb dash her bro, the rich Sonny Okogwu???
I can go on and on!
no she is not Jide and Rotimi (DJ Xclusive)'s mother . They are her nephews inlaw (related to her husband). All the Alakija are related but these two are not her children.
ReplyDeletei dont want to name her fours sons here but the first two names start with L and K
She is Rotimi mother but not jide alakija mother. the two are cousins
ReplyDeleteATL your minister is dirtier than this woman. Now you are talking of dirty.
ReplyDeleteLinda I want one of the son's number ooooo. I carry God mane beg u.lol
ReplyDeleteI am happy for her. However, the problem is that when Nigerians make this kind of money, people around them fail to benefit. So the money is a wasted blessing. Is the road to her house tarred? DOes everyone in her eviron have light (yes oh, - she can buy a transformer). Has she sponsored any poor kids? Has she adopted a cause? DOes she fucking have oil in her gaddemn backyard. FUcking NO. We drink the waste of oil and she flaunts her money - blood money. Did you bid for the oil bloc using due process abi na man no man give you the bloc? How many of us NIger Deltans can even dare to ask for a quarter bloc of oil? Even the one we are taking from broken pipes, they wan kill us put. You better sow that money into society so that it does not come to haunt you. God punish you and that money.
ReplyDelete@ ATL. Please jare. This woman is definately a silent millionaire. Trust me, I am a NAIJA SOCILIATES stalker and know the gist on 80% of the obvious show off ones. Never heard of this lady before. I heard of her dad and their family name but not her. She is smart business woman and it appears she put in a lot of hard work to make her money. Pls let us stop always bringing people down. It is why many cannot progress. badbelle
ReplyDelete@italktoomuch that ur name suits you. Typical naija mentality. If a child is not studying medicine, law, computer science or engineering, that child is useless ba? nonsense. A good number of kids doing very well for themselves in that naija and that are not stealing or whoring themselves are not in any of these professions. They are into entertainment and making major dough. Pls get with the YEAR 2000'S
ReplyDeleteJide is one of her sons oooh, follow and stalk him on twitter @alakija if you are not on twitter yet, join and follow him ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's only in Nigeria that people own blocs of oil. Very corrupt country. What happened to the government managing oil instead of selling blocs off to individuals. The rich will get richer and the poor poorer.
ReplyDeleteO thanks for making it easier for us now, so the son whose name starts with an L, shey that one just married the lady whose name also starts with an L abi?? LOL
ReplyDeleteMe too I no go put name, but google is everyone's friend.
Dats wot am talkin abt. All dis igbo ladies shud take example and stop d give me attitude and start usin their brains
ReplyDeletehahhaha follow Jide . Trust naija...lol. But on a serious note Jide Alakija is not her son .
ReplyDeleteAll her sons can pass for quadruplet , they look so much alike, very strong gene of them papa. Her sons names start with De, La, Rotimi (not DJ but a name sake) and ka.
@Diva , they didnt even sell the oil blocks to individuals . IBB gave it absolutely free to his friends. Its a pity .
ReplyDeleteNot a kobo self , all allocated for free and now the families Alakija, Alhaji Mai Daribe, Danjuma, Sanni Bello (inllaw to Abubakar) , Gambo., Dantata, Folawiyo, and the rest theives , keeps all the profit . E go better
Its still amazing how we continue to celebrate corruption and people are "tapping"into her anointing. Its looting simple and short. This lady was a fashion designer for Mrs Babangida and was dashed an oil bloc for her services. That 157m a day belongs to you and I and she s ripping us off.
ReplyDeleteGuys, please be careful who you look up to. Look up to people like Oprah, Steve Jobs who actually worked hard for their money from the ground up not some nouveau riche upstart from nowhere. ( that s right I said it)
Its so sickening how some people are now trying to affliate and act like they know the sons! Name dropping and all....
ReplyDeleteHow can an indivudual have an oil bloc?? Explain that! It happens only in this sick country
My father in law is the Oba of Benin, he was offered an oil bloc in the 90's and rejected it. That is Integrity! And some people still have the guts to comment unmentionables on this blog (Jonathans july visit) on His Royal Majesty. May time grant you wisdom.
ReplyDeleteOba gha to kpere; ise! IJN
peace
ReplyDeleteSome Nigerians are bloody hypocrite ..... If they had said it was Abacha wife or Babaginda wife then they would have been a public outcry and endless abuses. Now some people here are talking of tapping anointing, or keep quiet and celebrate... **Spits **, what is wrong is wrong , Lack of integrity and corruption is what is killing us .
ReplyDeleteThis woman is no different from the thieves in power . Its well-known fact that the Oil blocks were shared fraudulently among themselves. Oil block should be managed by the government for the people yet FORBES has the nerve to celebrate as the Richest Woman in Nigeria… Ordinary Constant Electricity we don’t have , no good roads, no nothing.
She should hide joor. God does not sleep , those who have stolen from us , it will not be well with them.......Adenuga was given 6 blocks and is employing people with conoil, addax has one block and is employing people. HOW MANY PEOPLE IS SHE EMPLOYING , Most of the workers are her children and family and we should celebrate .
Our revolution is coming one day
Most of the rich rogues in Nigeria got it through corrupt governments, Linda please post those that made money through self-means,those are the ones we should look up to.
ReplyDeletePlease is she daughter of the late Ooni of Ife,oba Sir Adesoji Aderemi?
ReplyDeleteRead the other comments, somewhere there her father was mentioned!
DeleteNigerians are just hypocrites...how many of you will reject such an offer...to develop an oil bloc? So why are hating? I knw OBJ took the oil loc from her until the Supreme Court proclaimed her the rightful owner of the oil bloc....Does IBB run the Supreme Court too? Alakija has done well but I don't know why IBB shed be a free man in this country!!!
ReplyDeleteermmmmmmm..............still looking for the right word.........
ReplyDeleteShe is my kind of woman hot at 61
ReplyDelete
