As such, a painting like this doesn't change our relationship with God, besides our religion clearly shows that our God fights his battle unlike many others where humans fight the battle of the god they profess. The bible says in Isaiah 59:1 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:" We do not get offended by such things, no real christian would.

I think he was trying to say that though Obama wants to help, people keep castigating him which if you look through the magnifying glass, it's true. I don't know what better way an artist would be able to pass along the message but as a hardcore Christian, i'd say it makes light of what Jesus did. The only things dat makes dis painting depict Christ are d crown of thorns and way he looked down. We seem to 4get that the only reason why we reconcile this image with that of Christ is because someone also painted the picture of Christ dying on d cross, a picture we are so familiar with dat we re almost worshiping d picture and nt the Christ it stands 4, a picture dat I'm 100% sure dat it wasn't painted in d time of christ but yrs later, a picture dat I'm also very sure that whoever painted it didn't have an eyewitness of christ dying on d cross to describe it to him; it was his own interpretation of what he musta read in d bible. And yet we accepted it as christ despite never having seen Christ.

ReplyDeleteWell i would like to highlight the creative aspect of this expression to the effect that its symbolic meaning leads in the direction of not being valued cherished and appreciated even in the face of hard work, integrity and merit.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama, has done enough for to earn a place in history as the first black two term president of America, yet the so called establishment and the red necks still does not value, cherish or even appreciate his contribution to their society even when they are benefiting from it simply because he is a person of color.
On the other hand, as Christians we are not concerned with the things of the flesh, after all remember what Jesus said to Peter when he was enraged by a passerby mocking him. Christianity will always turn the other chic, but you know what we will always triumph, cos we are not of the flesh but of the spirit. So in my personal and humble opinion as a christian i see no offense, it was only a creative expression of the difficulty President Obama faces as a two term first black president of America.
LMAO I hope the third commenter knows that this is NOT Obama and that someone just painted it. The guy is looking for cheap publicity ans trust Christian Warriors to provide it. The God I serve fights His own battles so no, this is not offensive - just mildly amusing in its quest for controversy. Next please.

Please give me a break, u guys that are acting offensive, tell me that u've not mocked the muslims in this country, even calling them names. So what if an ignorant artist paint a picture of Obama, how does that potray what Jesus went thru, besides if God did not strike the artist immediately, then we should leave the man to his faith, and note that Obama might not have anything to do with this painting, and we should learn to understand that God Cannot be MOCKED. And a peice of advice if u dont want ur religion to be mocked, dont mock or judge others.

ReplyDeleteThe picture doesn't remind me of Jesus. When I look at the cross, I feel peace and remember the ultimate price He paid for me. The artist's work looks like a caricature of Obama and I think he was trying to depict how Obama has been wrongly accused and blamed for the things(state of the economy) he didn't cause. He should have used something else besides the crown of thorns but I can bet a buck that he doesn't believe in God.
