RIP Aluu 4

Found this in the comment section. Please read...
Goodnight Pain. "thieves, thieves" he screamed, it was almost funny. Not until more voices joined the chorus as they screamed and shouted on us. We could have ran at least to save our lives, but our intentions were genuine and little did we know how the day would end. From a handful of young men shouting and throwing questions at us, it escalated to a crowd of angry mob. There was no way we could escape this one, so we calmed down. They pushed us around and then stripped us all. These men pulled us pants down, we were more than embarrassed, the whole community watched, I recognized few faces from the crowd. Obviously they were so afraid to say "stop" then the beating started, I wished it to be just a nightmare. But it was real, these men were determined. They dropped heavy rocks on our heads, they pounded our faces with large planks, blood covered our eyes, they matched and kicked us right on our bleeding nostrils, we couldn't breathe.

"Bring tire" one of the men repeated, until they brought the tires. "Oh God!" We watched the crowd watch us, we raised hands of plea, we couldn't speak, Some hid, some shot videos and took pictures. there was no one to stop this. This was the point we knew it was over. We felt pain, helpless and hopeless. I thought of my siblings, I wondered how my mum would take this. She would fall apart. I begged God to hold her for me, comfort and make her strong for me, I prayed same for my friends. Then we started crying, we cried together. the tears gave us headaches. We looked up high, the sky was still. Rings of tires landed on our necks, they kept hitting us, but we were numb already. They set us ablaze. We rolled around, tried to reach for each other, I wondered who would give up first, the fire burned our bodies. it hurt, it hurt and then it hurt. But suddenly the pain stopped, Then I couldn't hear any other thing, but silence. I thanked God. the pain was over and Gods glory was revealed. Goodnight pain. RIP ALUU#4:

  33. This gave me chills reading it, and I teared up. Painted such a vivid picture of the boys' last moments. I've tried not to think about what was going through their mind as they were stripped, beaten, battered, brutalised and set ablaze... The writer is certainly gifted... RIP Lloyd, Tekena, Ugonna and Chidiaka. I sincerely pray that the Lord will strengthen your families and loved ones and give them peace.

  51. Beautiful but tragic post, it is how imagined their thots would be. So so sad. I don't know how I'm going to get over this. I've never mourned like this before. There hasn't been a day since Friday I haven't shed tears for these boys. I sob. I would have gone mad had it been my family member.

I try to console myself that that the boys fathers sound strong like they are dealing with it. My voice shakes every time I narrate the incident. I see Ugonna fight for life. Lloyd staring straight at the camera motionless with a tyre around his neck and just blinking as if to say help us. someone please HELP.

I question mankind, the idea of Hell which i no longer believe in. I can't see a benevolent God condoning such cruelty. My human self has been traumatized for the past week knowing those boys were burnt alive. No.I can't believe a gracious and merciful God could do that. I question the existence of an all powerful God who stood by and stands by like the bystanders in Aluu while so much suffering is around. I don't want to question but I can't help it.

Then there is their beautiful friendship, they know their end is nigh, even through the pain they huddle together for one last embrace.

I hav a 4minth old son n i wonder wat d future holds for him in a country like nigeria where everythin bad abounds. Corruption, lawlessness in its highest realms.

My heart bleeds for the innocent boys whose lives were cut short by evil pple, whom if u check, re ritual killers demselves.

God help us. God, donot forsake us in these dark times. Guide our footsteps. Lead us away from d sneers of the evil one whom a lot of pple hav given their hearts over to. Those who dig pits for us, shall demselves fall into d pits. In Jesus name. Amen!

  105. Dear Linda,

Thanks for doing a great job on your blog. Its one of my most sourced news blog. God bless you.

I don't expect you to publish this, its for you only. I emailed you last year concerning your links. I told you about the code you should use on your HTML so that your links would open in another page while your reader still has your page open. Thanks for your response.

However, I have noticed that your wallpaper is beginning to change more frequently. Having studied blogging in a social media class, one of the characteristics of a blog is the consistency of Color and font. You are known for your red wallpaper, the last time it was cream and now the repeated face of someone. I know they are advertising strategies but that shouldn't affect your signature look. What would cross your mind if you hear a different NTA sig tune, something entirely different from what you have always known right from the 80's? These changes are little compare to the content but it can be distracting to the reader.

Again, the new wallpapers takes time to load, I think the size is too large, it should be reduced in photoshop and exported for "web".

You are the blogger and have the final say but considering what I have said may help.Am sorry if you think am talking too much but its just an advise, you have made a name and even here in the US, Linda Ikeji's blog is like a tradition, one of the sites Nigerians open every morning.

Great job girl, keep it up. God bless you.

  136. It is indeed pitiable that such a thing would happen: Nigerians killing their fellow Nigerians in Nigeria, while Nigerians watch. All for a baseless accusation. Even if thos young guys were guilty of robbery, should they have been roasted like animals?
In any case, this one has happened, let us all be cautious enough to ensure that similar occurrences never arise again, while we await Justice for the 'Aluu 4'.
    My condolences to their families.

    My condolences to their families.

  140. U guys are just making saints outta sinners!!
Nobody deserves to die like this-agreed but have u guys considered what dis boys did? How can 4 boys go to harrass just one person? i'm sure they must have been feeling fly wen they went to 'ginger' the guy and collected his stuff.
He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. These guys' hands aren't clean.
They used jungle justice wen harassing the guy, and they met with jungle justice.
This should be a warning to all the university students that feel they are invincible - that feel nothing can happen to them.
For all we know, Aluu community might have been under siege from students for a while and these guys were the unfortunate scape goats.

I graduated from Uniport and i know what uniport students are capable of - especially those that stay in villages close to the school.

There have been cases of robbery, rape, killing etc of villagers by students and it never made news.

This should be a lesson to all - a word, they say, is enough...

  144. God is this your original purpose of bringing men into this wicked and heartless world. Oh Nigeria a country of ungodly people, governed by ruthless politicians, secure by untrained & reckless security men and women,

NIGERIA, country where evil people excel, waxed strong and take control of power, economy, society at large.

One should ask do we have a Government, Governor and Governed? Ooooh yes echoed by the people of callous mind.

I have taking time to think, study and equally do some research and sincerely on my objective opinion I agreed with the great Icon and Prophetic writer Prof. Acheba "There was a country"

But wait oooh do we still have a country....................?

  146. I can't seem to stop their voices from ringing in my head...."this one never die"? "Wey the tyre"?U pay ur school fees yesterday abi?" ****the sound of the cudgel hitting their near lifeless bodies, the face of one of them bloodied and his eyes looking upwards to the heavens while his lips move as in supplication to God to accept his soul, the way the body moved to sit up when the fire touched their bodies, the weak attempt by one to move away from clear and imminent death, the broken arm from his murderers, the voices of the people around watching the gruesome murder and the voice of one saying "no hit am again"....Gawd!!! Nigeria is a lost nation...a nation of murderers...I curse the grounds of Aluu with every thing in me...... Nigerians say Boko Haram have no respect for human lives but they are no different from them......Now Nigerians know now that they are barbarians and deserve the kind of leaders they have...

  169. I am typing this in tears. My heart is broken.this writer precisely captured my nightmares since this story broke. 4 boys, 4 young boys, 4 innocent young boys. Hoping, hoping that there would be ONE sane person in that crowd to stop the madness and HELP them. Ugonna's innocent smile haunts me. how could they do that to them? how?? It is a gruesome act of sheer wickedness and pure evil. Justice MUST be served to the perpetrators.

  179. My first time posting a comment on your blog linda. I have not being myself since this all happened. And i have cried everyday of the week wishing all this never happened. I am pregnant with my first baby after years of waiting and now i know what it feels like to carry a baby and wonder what thier parents are going through having raise a child till the age of 20+ to be cut down untimely and unjustly. Trust me it not easy and i wondered how women could stay there to watch. I found myself questioning God asking him why he let this happen been the all knowing God and knowing they were innocent, i then cautioned myself because i no he is God. I pray trully they made peace with God in their last moments. This whole thing Got me closer to God and i have rededicated my life to God asking him to use me and I hope someone out their is also using this opportunity to give his or her life to christ because "Life itself is vanity"

  189. Linda everyday i think of the horrible thing done to this young men. I wish i had the power to take back the hands of time to that day and make them not go out or the power to get everyone of the people that carried out this horrible thing and do same to them more painfully, slowly and double the hurt this young men went through.
I am sooooooooo angry and wish i had the power. I seriously wish i had. May they rest in peace but before their spirits have tormented the wicked people thoroughly.

  190. am still in shock over this, from the song from the boys you could really tell the city is not a friendly one from time,i thnk they just beeff' the boys,or hw else do one explain this, even if they stole those things they accussed them of,why shud killing be the judgement, cant they be handed over to the school authority,if am in power right now,i will ask that the commmunity be levelled down, yeah this is really madness, man's inhumanity to man,may their gentle soul rest in peace, but again, maybe i will say their soul shud not rest yet, until all those involved get equal punishment for their act,am so hurting now
