Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor Resigns

According to TheWill, Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Nsima Ekere has resigned from office with immediate effect. TheWill said Ekere tendered his resignation letter this morning after he was tipped of an advanced plot to begin impeachment proceedings against him on Thursday, following heightened tension between himself and Governor Godswill Akpabio over his governorship ambition in 2015.

Political analysts in Akwa Ibom say Akpabio is backing his current SSG as his successor in 2015. TheWill exclusively obtained the deputy governor's resignation letter. See it after the cut...

  5. Vindictive politics, that is what is played in Nigeria. What is wrong in having political ambition? Better to resign or be impeached.

The first one was abandoned and rejected in office, the second one now is resigning. For me i can read the hand-writings on the wallz. Something fishy is cooking in Akwa Ibom State and by 2015 we will also witness and attest to it. God help us in AKS

  19. SORRY TO SAY THAT POLITICS IN AKWA IBOM, MY STATE IS STRICTLY FOR CULTISTS, RITUALISTS AND SO ON N SO FORTH.
NONE IS INNOCENTS, ALL HAVE THEIR HANDS SOILED. IF AKPABIO WAS NOT A 'STRONGMAN' HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD BY NOW.
DO NOT TAKE SIDE, ALL ARE DIRTY, I MEAN VERY VERY DIRTY

  20. First and foremost, the step he took made it obvious that he respects himself and he does not want such stain, even if he had done what would make the impeachment to be successful.

Also, he is very smart because he must have concluded on the best way towards achieving his 2015 ambition before his resignation.

I wish him best of luck.

  25. u guys talk of propaganda. U ain't seen nothing . Please come to Delta state & see the way Aki & pawpaw (uduaghan & utuama) are 'ruling'& suffering us. Akwa ibom govnr may not be a saint but @ least he is working & he has completed several laudable projects unlike the 'ekpokinkin' we have in delta state.
Point is, its all politics & these people have their way of making up. Its just u & I, the poor masses that suffer in this country. My advice - care less about their affairs & mind ur business jeje!

  27. I WOULD HAVE SAID THE SAME THING IF I WAS NOT FROM AKWA IBOM...YOU CAN'T JUDGE THE BOOK BY THE COVER. THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF THE STATE LOOKING INNOCENT AND ALL THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE IS INNOCENT. IF AKWA IBOM GIVES HIM A CHANCE IN THE GOVERNMENT IN 2015, THEN THE STATE WOULD BE DOOMED. ALL THE HARD WORKS OF AKPABIO IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE WOULD BE GONE DOWN THE DRAIN. THE PRAYERS OF THE WIDOWS AND ORPHANS IS WHAT GOD HAS USED TO PROTECT GOV. AKPABIO FROM HIS OPPONENTS. IF YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SOMEONE DON'T JUDGE HIM OR HER. AKPABIO IS THE BEST GOVERNOR WE HAVE EVER HAD AND I DON'T THINK THERE IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM. WHOEVER HE SUPPORTS WOULD NOT BE LIKE HIM ANYWAYS, NOT EVEN CLOSE. BUT I PRAY GOD GIVES US ANOTHER LIKE HIM IN 2015. COME OUR STATE, YOU WILL THINK YOU ARE IN NEW YORK CITY OR LAS VEGAS. GOV. AKPABIO IS A MAN OF PEACE BUT SOME PPL THAT ARE WORKING UNDER AREN'T STRAIGHT FORWARD PPL, JUST LIKE THAT SLOW POISON EX-DEPUTY OF HIS. I'VE SEEN MY STATE TRANSFORMED RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES AND I AM PROUD AND CAN BRAG ABOUT IT. I'M SAYING WHAT I KNOW...SO, SIT THERE AND JUDGE. SAY THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW AND GET CURSED BY GOD. TOMORROW YOU BLAME THE DEVIL FOR IT.

  36. WHy can't people just consider that, it is possible that Nsima Ekere just resigned for personal reasons and that there is nothing fishy? We musn't read crazy meanings to everything just because it has to do with the government. Can't somebody resign from office? Must there always be an ulterior motive?
