We performed major surgery for ruptured appendix on Mrs Jonathan -Horst Schmidt Klinik

I have no way of confirming most of these political news but I trust those who get the stories...below is something I read on Transparencyng.com...
A spokesperson for the Horst Schmidt Klinik in Wiesbaden, Germany has revealed that the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan was in a bad state of health when she arrived at the hospital last week.
The hospital’s official, who confirmed that initial records showed that Mrs. Patience Jonathan had earlier been treated for food poisoning in Nigeria before being brought to the Horst Schmidt Klinik, however, said she was responding to treatment after she had undergone a major surgery for a ruptured appendix to remove the poisons in her intestine.
During an eight-minute telephone chat yesterday through telephone number +49611433436, a senior consultant of the hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Mrs. Jonathan was brought to the hospital early last week after the management of the hospital had been contacted and briefed on the deteriorating health condition of the first lady.

She said that Mrs. Jonathan was getting better but added that the hospital management would ensure that she was fully fit before she would be allowed to go back to Nigeria.

When we demanded further details, the hospital official said it was improper and unethical for her to make such details available to a third party, ending the call and refusing to pick up subsequent calls.

A reliable source in Aso Rock told us that the decision to take the First Lady to Germany for better treatment was borne out of the fact that her medical aides in Nigeria complained that they could not get accurate diagnosis as a result of insufficient medical facilities in the country.

Twelve days after she left the country, her Media Assistant, Ayo Osinlu, yesterday said there is no definite date yet for her return.

In a telephone conversation yesterday, Osinlu insisted that Mrs Jonathan is on a foreign trip to take a well deserved rest. "I can tell you authoritatively that the First Lady was not lifted by any air ambulance to anywhere, all those things are lies.

"Nobody is going to put a gun on my head and force me to talk when I have no fresh information," he said.
Asked when the First Lady will return, he retorted: "I don't know. I don't have any information on that.  You don't expect me to call her and ask her when are you returning, is she my mate? Ours is to ensure everything is in order to receive her once her return is made known to us. I do not have fresh information on that".
Osinlu had on Sunday laboured hard to justify Mrs Jonathan's sudden disappearance from the public.
“If you look at her itinerary in August, you will be wondering how she was able to accomplish that,” he told a national daily.

  20. It is great that Dame Patience has access to Germany and Dubai and all the places she has been for medical treatment. One would assume that those called physicians who are allowed near her would be the best of the best. So if the best of the best cannot detect or suspect a ruptured appendix, can you imagine what is happening to people in Nigeria? They were not even close enough - suggesting food poisoning and all sorts of hubris. This is a classic example of how the medical system has failed woefully. Dame Jonathan, can you imagine how many people have died because they did not have access to Dubai and Germany? Ruptured appendix is pretty common. Na so e be for naija. Please let your gift to the people of Rivers and Bayelsa be a state of the art hospital with literate medical personnel, even it means naming the place after your appendix.

  28. And you say people should not steal or amass government money. Now, Jonathan's wife had ordinary ruptured appendix and no doctor in Nigeria could cut her open to clean her system. She had to be airlifted to Germany. Is it my own wife that should now die in the hands of Nigeria' s incompetent doctors or in Nigeria's mismanaged and I'll equipped hospital?. In as much as I would not want to steal, Nna, I ve got to ensure my own family's safety too. There s no amount of salary they wiill pay me in Nigeria that will cover for overseas medical bill. So do you blame the pen robbers? I'm just asking o. If Jonathan could not fix the health sector and would not trust his wife into the hands of Nigerian doctors, ( the same goes for Babangida, Obasanjo, Madueke, Tinubu and so on and so forth). is it other men's wives who should be slaughtered. Ohun to ba gba laa maa fun. What I'm saying in essence is, fix the dying state of Nigeria and corruption will reduce. There will be no need and no excuse to fly abroad under any pretence.

  39. Ruptured appendicitis though fatal is treatable in this country. At least LUTH did a good job on my brother when he had one 3yrs ago. Well na govt money, they can spend it as they like. She now has the well 'deserved rest' as the claimed initially. But they should know that some hospitals can save the individual with ruptured appendicitis in this country. Nigerian hospitals never die reach like that for this case.

  46. Hmmmn Lin Lin, while I bow to d superiority of ur ameboness, I must say this story get serious k-leg. 3 issues:

    1. a hospital spokesperson would not speak on condition of anoynimity

    2. when he does speak, he only gives out info as approved by d px or his family. The hosp can and should get sued if they contravene this.
Even in Nigeria, if wife no give permission to discuss her sickness wt husband, u no go discuss.
Of course, information oftentimes leaks out but never officially.

3.its plausible she had an operation for ruptured appendix. But Saying that she had a major operation for ruptupered appendix TO REMOVE THE POISON IN HER INTESTINE? Chei! 'Naija i hail o, Coffee wey I drink hia comot for my nose':-) . Seriously that info couldn't have come from a hospital source. It probably was from a battery charger, or perhabs it was conceived in d fevered imaginations of a journalist. Or blogger. :-)

PS: ruptured appendix is routinely operated on in hospitals in my papa's village. U see how ur leaders disgrace us and themselves?

    Apologies for the long turenchi.

Our govt don't even reason ΨђåƮ if all dis countries we run to didn't develop their health facilities where would D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ be goin for treatments.instead of dem to put in every equipment in place but no way they prepare to be flying up Äπϑ down.they Aяε̲̣̣̣̥ lucky D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ arrive @ ԎϦϧ place be4 its 2 late cos taking a distance journey when one is critically ill isn't the best anytin can happen. But if we have everythin here no need for flying Äπϑ worrying, give the doctors maximum training by sending dem for foreign course to gain more knowledge but they wouldn't do so, all the money allocated to ministry of health in the budget what do D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ use ԎϦϧ money to do the answer wich every nigerian knows. It is well wit our country nigeria

  48. @Anon, a burst appendix is usually fatal IN NIGERIA!!! My cousin here in yankee had one recently and recovered hale and hearty! We need to do better in Naija!!! It can happen to anyone, so what you are saying is that if you, or your family gets it in naija, that death will be all that is left?? Mba nu o! We must do better!

This article sha is silly "poisons in her intestine", which kind of spokesman for a hospital describes the pathology of ruptured appendicitis in such a backwards manner.

People a ruptured appendix is a clinical diagnosis, an abdominal CT scan can confirm it, its sad that Naija doctors couldnt narrow down symptoms, and assumed that Nausea+Vomiting=Person who has been poisoned.

Price of a CT machine can be about $500k-$1m...expensive yes but we seem to throw money around town in naija, its sad that Aso Rock doesnt have one. I pray all is well with her in Jesus Name! Amen

In Yankee, hospital cant release information (records) regarding a patient's health unless to parties that the patient had signed off on.

  105. secrecy is an unfortunate tool used in managing sate affair in nigeria. to underscore this fact look back in history for examples...stella, yaradua, now patience.

a president wife is a public figure; she live and breath taxpayers money...how the hell will she be holed in a germany hospital and abati and other pr spin doctors men think this is not a matter of pubic information is 'very understandable.'

TRUST is forever lost in governance and ordinary nigeria lifes.

appendix operation is rather pedestrian and can be done in any 1 room hospital, aint no way fashona, jonathan, tinubu, obi, sambo, duke, will ever TRUST their close family member to a local hospital/doctor for even minor headache.

this fact is driven by fear and lack of trust.

it has noting to do with the state of our hospital, or the doctor to do the operation. when TRUST is non existing, where lies hope.

    wish the 1st lady well.

  106. Stupid Africans..fifty years plus after independence they still send their elite to hospitals abroad from treatment and most likely to be treated by the best of African brains working in those very same hospitals! Wish the First Lady will but our backyard must be cleaned thoroughly!!

  107. Have u ever heard that other presidents or their wives came to Nigeria for treatment. Why must we fly our leaders abroad for treatment. Nakwa echeki.

  109. But there is usually signs of a rupture appendix, for a while, you would feel a very hot sensation at the side of ur tommy,is usually very unbearable,my little brother had an experience,Let alone a bursted one?she may have been thinking is the hand work of some witches, and decided to go in the traditional part, until it finally rusted.Pls madam reduce your food intake and walk out more, she is too thick, how does she breath wt ease. Now she was flown abroad,i thought is said we hv Dr wt great brains at d central hospitals.Na real wa wa.Any mild illness abroad am just sick and tired of this people and their waste of tax payers funds.

  110. Ordinarily this is't a very big deal,it remains a minor operation, what are they talking about?but being a wife to the president, trust now the hospital would make it look like a big deal,it would be blown out of proportion, all in a bit to extract very huge sum from them,an ordinary person would go through such at a very little cost. Why could't it be done back home?what is there?

It can happen to anyone, so what you are saying is that if you, or your family gets it in naija, that death will be all that is left?? Mba nu o! We must do better!

You do know a lot of us here also live abroad? So go to hell with if you or your family. Relate it to yourself please. Idiot.

It burst in Nigeria and she was flown abroad. So she was saved in Nigeria first before being flown abroad. Get it?

  117. all this lie lie jonathan is telling us about umblelas health ehh we sahll see what work his wife had done when she returns. instead of jona to see how he can improve the hospitals in naija dem dey jolly dey go for oyinbo land, he forgets that when obama or wife is sick they stay in yankee to receive treatemnt or when cameron or wife is sick dey stay in jand to receive treatment but for jona and wife when dey sick dey go outside naija for treatment using tax payers money is that not a BIG SHAME on both of dem showing dey have no trust in the nigeria health sector and yet dey do not want to do anything about it... just shows that dey should be hidding that their ugly faces in sham SMDH for dem....but all in all i still hope she recovers form whatever is wrong with her
