Life is so difficult in this country. Even if its to present flowers with cultural dancers...one country gave medalist cars for participating in Olympics. Only to claim successful people after that nothing SMH
This made me shed a few tears..especially when theat lady said .."there is ability in disability".. Our society is yet to develop an inclusive attitude towards disability.. check out our roads and pedestrian bridges, check out the entrances to Government ministries etc.. No attempt has been made to accomodate mobility access for disabled people.. I cried when i read a newspaper article about a disabled guy that had to take okada to the other side of the expressway, just cos he cant use the pedestrian bridges across our highways! It's a damn shame on the Government of Nigeria, especially the Minister of Sports, the National Sports Commission and all relevant agencies. It's never too late for their (the athletes) state Governors to recognize and reward them with just a little bit from all the funds they are amassing. I also hope corporations can sieze this opportunity to offer these worthy champions nice endorsement deals to promote their products/services. SMDH.....always embarrassing entity called Nigeria!

At this point. I give of the so called Nigeria as my Country. They went there to make us proud beyond our expectations and no welcome back treat or even pick-up at least??? It's only God that will bless and reward them. They might be disabled, but are better useful than the Olympics athletes who won nothing and were treated like egg with all the billions of Naira spent. Able bodied counterparts ke - we have really come to see that standing on two legs and being able to move around unaided does not necessarily mean able bodied. if our government does not recognize how proud the team nigeria guys to the paralympics have made us, i will say it over and over again that nigerians are proud of all of you.
This is really sad. they have showed us that what able bodied people cannot do, they can do it and this is all our government did to repay them. This just sad.
this is totally wrong...i work at the international airport and i can say with all confidence that they were welcomed in a grand way....they were not stranded at all...only God knows where channels got their story from...it is a big lie....

ReplyDeleteThis is really bad, they have done Nigeria proud and its not too much to ask of the sporting officials. By the way i am not a nigerian but i think these people must be appreciated, common nigeria some of these athlets have put u on the map by breaking world records and all.

ReplyDeleteAm crying,listen up,jona, d next olympic,not paralympic oooooo,this guys had better represent us.This are our true heroes.Am so ashame of being a Nigerian.This sport ministry guys are heartless,this is mean and unforgivable.They should be given a car each ooooo,they can sell it if they wish.
ReplyDeleteAble bodied counterparts ke - we have really come to see that standing on two legs and being able to move around unaided does not necessarily mean able bodied. if our government does not recognize how proud the team nigeria guys to the paralympics have made us, i will say it over and over again that nigerians are proud of all of you.

ReplyDeletethis is totally wrong...i work at the international airport and i can say with all confidence that they were welcomed in a grand way....they were not stranded at all...only God knows where channels got their story from...it is a big lie....
