GEJ's special adviser on job creation promises to create 5, 000 jobs

Ms Josephine Washima is President Jonathan's Special Adviser on job creation. There's a special adviser on job creation? #ohok! Anyway, Ms Washima today at a news conference in Abuja, promised to create at least 5, 000 jobs for people who are qualified. What she said below...
Last week someone called me and was offering me 5, 000 job vacancies. We are going to have a website where people can upload their CVs. I don’t need to know you; I don’t need to know your face. Just go there, if you qualify for that job, apply for it and be sure that you will be called up for an interview.
We are not bringing anything new. We are not trying to do something that has never been done before. But we are going to build on existing structure and strengthen the labour laws of this country in such a way that we will do away with bottle-necks.
We don’t need anybody asking any Nigerians for a note to get a job from anybody. We will work closely with the National Bureau of Statistics to get appropriate data of unemployed Nigerians.

  7. National Bureau of kini? Those ones that don't know the number of their staff. I give it to her, she's got jokes!

Btw, 5000 is too small for a whole FG. If Osun state can provide over 10,000 jobs in 100 days and is still paying all those employed without problems, why can't FG do multiples of that?

  43. Ms Washima, are you going to create jobs out of the air? The outside world is having a good laugh at your naivete. Rule of thumb no 1 for creating jobs is create a stable, progressive and conducive business environment then you wont need to make this embarrassing announcement. This means encourage investors, eliminate 419, prevent airlines from making travel a nightmare and a "not necessary" by not allowing anything but in person bookings for flights that include Nigeria as a destination because we have been tagged a high fraud route (what a “forsaken by all” country), shutting down Boko Haram to create a sense of stability for investors, improve your educational system so that graduates can write one correct sentence in English (which in today's world means castrating most male lecturers who are sexual predators and engaged in prolific sex for grades blackmail, and killing off the rest who sell handouts and use other intimidation means other than teaching to create a non-academic environment – and DRUMROLL….it CAN BE DONE and SHOULD BE DONE), encourage microeconomies (Nigeria has the consumer base; figure out what types of economies abroad including that Dubai of a place are surviving only because of Nigerians, and make a concerted effort to bring those types of businesses and jobs home), provide SUPERVISED incentives to honest and well-meaning Nigerians (Not the uber rich and women who can get anywhere with their downlow) to set up small scale industries across the nation, etc etc. I no be economist but I sabi all these things because I live in a country where we have these debates sometimes as intellectuals and at least those who want to be informed can be informed. You are creating 5000 jobs for the 10k illiterate and uneducated youth in my local government area? When you talk nationwide, are you including all those young northern men who are in phase 3 of what happens when there is massive inequity in society? The ones in my LGA who now kidnap and are technically on salaries of 3-4 million naira every 3 weeks? How much you wan pay them, sister? Na 5k jobs every month abi na 5k jobs for now and evermore? Where did GEJ my love and sweetie pie pick these people? Patience abeg hurry up return house see whether you go help my bros. The more I think about this the more agitated I get. Abeg, na early momo for here. Linda make I no fill all your space with my vexation. Its too early for HBP resulting from all these annoying announcements. When will it stop!!!!

There's so much criticism and sarcasicm in all comments, but I guess she who is working to create jobs already know that data has to be collected, skilled n unskilled, so why can't you all be supportive n give her a chance. Correct, we have been so messed up in the country but when you look around who are the people that messed us up? Ourselves, for we condemn before accepting, please guys let's be realistic and do something to help ourselves instead of cheap talk. BELIEVE guys.
