Eventually, the plane left Gatwick airport at 4:30 pm and arrived Nigeria at about 12:30 early this morning.
After spending extra hours before leaving Gatwick for Lagos, and arrived way past midnight, passengers were shocked to be informed to come back for their luggage!
A lot of them are so mad about what they went through yesterday and are planning to sue the airline company and it's chairman, Jimoh Ibrahim. Got this info first hand from passengers on-board the aircraft last night.
From tomorrow Monday September 10th, Air Nigeria will no longer fly...for at least a year.
God jimoh Ibrahim should issue an apology
ReplyDeleteGood for them not to fly because they are not serious with business.I have not used the airline before but there is nothing like Emirates. How can they say lack of fuel made them not to fly, what an airline.Naija, everything is possible in that country.
ReplyDelete*SIGH* God help us in this country...
ReplyDeleteSo because of 7600 pounds they made 190 people suffer like this.. Hian!!
ReplyDeleteOdera.
God punish Jimoh Ibrahim...n he says he's a motivational speaker!!!he cnt handle any business
ReplyDeleteOur Aviation sector needs serious prayers.
ReplyDeleteI thought he had closed the company. Why are they still flying? *confused*
ReplyDeleteALL THESE SAD NEWS MAKE ME WEEP AND PRAY FOR NAIJA EVERYDAY.
ReplyDeleteAha from tomorrow it will be gone. I had to re-read!
ReplyDeleteJimoh should please get a life. Why suffer people this way? This is total rubbish. Smh
ReplyDeleteWhat an insult, pay extra £40 for fuel! They should sue the living daylight out of the useless Airline. Rubbish!
ReplyDeleteGosh the aviation sector is in such a big mess, and the minister is so useless which doesn't help.... Na wah, it best to avoid anything nigerian when it comes to flying.
ReplyDeleteBut this is so sad! In the firstplace I can't figure out what could have made FGN approved 'Air Operation' License to someone like Jimoh Ibrahim! His tendecies are so bad and they know it, but did it for sake of their own benefits and corruption. As far as am concern, Jimoh doesn't deserve to live among people cos he's an animal. U just need to experience him as a person or work under him to understand what am saying. He's a bully, arrogant, so vulgar and an exploiter who is taking advantage of our bad leadership and vulnerable citizenry who easily give up to fate. I hope the passengers won't give up on this though, till he pays back and learn some lessons.
ReplyDeleteNaawaah ooh linds no comment smh
ReplyDeleteMadness!!!
ReplyDeleteJimoh should be in jail. He has no right to hurt people and mess with their money, emotions, time and all. I HATE HIM. Nonsense somebody...
ReplyDeletePathetic! Thank GOD they came back safe.
ReplyDeleteWhy fly Air Nigeria internationally in the first place, like they don't have enough problems locally already.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha *laughing in french* They should be grateful to God they landed safely,I guess they could only afford to fly the passengers cause passengers + luggage consumes fuel.
ReplyDeleteCrazy airline , that's too much mhan . ppl really had to go through all that ? Smh
ReplyDeleteNa wa o! Only in 9ja will passengers contribute money for aviation fuel..... Air Nigeria should have had a better back up plan before grounding the airline.
ReplyDeleteLong live federal republic of Nigeria!
How people fly Air Nigeria remains a shock to me. Please, they are not air worthy. I have been on one of their planes before and I was praying the whole time. Even when they were Virgin Nigeria, they had K leg. Please abeg, our lives are not cheap. 6 hours over the Atlantic is not a joke.
ReplyDelete"Fresh Air" Nigeria.. LOL
ReplyDeleteJimoh Ibro is an idiot and God ll punish him. Jack of all trades master of none
ReplyDeleteLinda u mean after waiting on you for hours to post a new story, dis is the best you can do? Seriously? Mayb i shud sue u too fr postn stories too l8 n making me wait expectantly cz truth b told, i m addicted to ur blog but pls do better
ReplyDeleteNo lie abt dis...God will punish jimoh ibrahim and everybody responsible for this
ReplyDeleteNa whaooo ! Diz is not funny
ReplyDeleteAm I surprised?, the professionalism in this country is woeful. Honestly I think any air transport that springs up from nigeria is nothing to right home about.I got back from London on tuesday morning on Arik and I was told to come get my bag the next day. Who does that?. I honestly think people should abandon all these nigeria air transprts and use the foreign ones. And the reason most people fly them is because of the cheap fares.
ReplyDeleteI was in this flight...got to the aiport exacctly 6:40am...to check in did not even take me 1hour,the flight was meant to take off 10:50am but they delayed it till 12 no offence about that,ds pple kept telling us to give them some minutes...to cut the long story.According to them they needed 10,000pounds(£10,000) short three(3) oil companies turned AIR NIGERIA down to fuel the plane...before it was suggested that we passengers to all contribute 40pounds each(even wit ur baby still 40pounds)..the 4th company agreed..I tink the condition the company gave them was to leave some luggage so air nigeria would come back to clear their debt....the plane was not full at all so I dnt c any reason y dey won't bring our bags to NIGERIA...people that don't have money to fuel plane to bring passengers,thEy would nw fuel the plane 4 luggages..God help us in this country
ReplyDeleteLike I said before dat jimoh ibrahim is sick upstairs, he does not hve any idea about business, just want 2 be rushin in and out of business yeye man, stupid idiot, men of such should be thrown inside a dumpinsite, people am beggin u run away 4rm jimoh ibrahim
ReplyDeletehey,assult
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame!
ReplyDeleteHavard cn only teach bt cnt help to practice.
JI talks too much...
Wow wow wow! One thing you should never be asked to do is pay for the fuel for the plane you are about to take, especially since you already paid in advance, total fail. I hope this is a huge lesson and if they operate again in the future avoiding something like this should be vital.
ReplyDeleteJust another story adding to Nigerias already bad business reputation
air nigeria can go to hell
ReplyDeletevery good if all dis stupid people who treat people d way they lk and tink they can get away wt it should be getting there instant reward dis way that means evil and wickedness wil reduce in dis country,i hv once been in such situation so i knew how bad it hurts, so dana has nt thought those airlines some lesson aby? they stil hv d gods to toil wt passengers aby? stupid selfish wicked people.
ReplyDeleteNigeria's going down the drain. There's no other way to go for nigeria but down.
ReplyDeleteNigeria! People are still boarding a flying coffin?
ReplyDeleteMuch of the mediocrity that we see in this country is cos we allow it. I hope the affected passengers follow up this matter to end. What rubbiish! What sort of madness is this?
ReplyDeleteAsking passengers to contribute money for aviation fuel! D@'s jst messed up rilly! Shame on Air Nigeria! Shame on Jimoh Ibrahim!
ReplyDeleteDis is madness na.....dts wht happen wen a farmer is suppose to service people......jimoh is just an illiterate,....why will he treat people anyhow......
ReplyDeleteEverything Jimoh touches turns to shit! What a dude!
ReplyDeleteThis Jimoh Ibrahim is something else!! And wats d authorities in Naija doing about this crap?.....Triple A to da M!
ReplyDeletepuahahahahaha this cannot be serious?...nigeria needs to have regulations set in place and be consistent. now they r saying this airline will no longer be flying until a years time....hmmm lies.....something called "BRIBERY", the genie in the bottle will do them justice. just to think i wanted to relocate to nigeria....having second thoughts...
ReplyDeletefor real? this country sef...smh
ReplyDeleteLet us thank God for the Journey Mercies, not a very good image about the airline though.
ReplyDeleteRelax. This is pure sabotage. They want their boss to get sued that's all
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat was unfair on the passengers.
ReplyDeleteDis Air Nigeria stuff has really degenerated 2 sometin stupid. Na by force 2 run airline? I tink he shld face his oil biz squarely. Oil & Air dont mix.
ReplyDeleteAir nigeria needs to be sued for every dime its got. We can get things right in this country but we must fight mediocrity with all dedication. Imagine such an incident and the shame it has caused. It was completely unnecessary and could have been avoided if people tried to do their jobs in the most professional manner. Kai!
ReplyDeleteJimoh Ibrahim has gotten away with too much abeg. If govt doesn't want their tax, what about him stealing his staff pension and cooperative money. Now u contribute to buy fuel. WE DON'T HAVE A GOVT.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... thank God the plane landed safely!
ReplyDeleteSame thing will happen if ppl foolishly fly DANA air locally when they become operational now that their licence has been lifted! All these fake businessess owned by corrupt Nigerians using Jimoh as their front should know that in d real business world,u do not cut corners and it is highly competitive too.
ReplyDeleteU either play by d rules or u drop off d radar! Can u imagine begging passengers forty pounds to gas up ur airplane? And they call him a billionnaire? What a joke!
This Jimoh Ibrahim is something else!! And wats d authorities in Naija doing about this crap?.....Triple A to da M!
ReplyDeleteI wl miss d cheap ticket 4 1yr..kai!
ReplyDeleteAn airline that have sacked all its staff, what did the passengers and public. This means they have been operating illegal flights with untrained staff. Where is the oversight of NCAA? Only in Naija!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother nigerian financial "mogul" running his business like it is a danfo, what else is new? Let me know when he gets Thisday Award for Excellence. mschewww
ReplyDeleteevrytin Aviation shud b suspended in 9ja...mek anybodi no travel again!
ReplyDeleteOh my dayzzz...I can't believe what I just read. Wow. My friend experienced similar thing about a month ago. They were delayed a whole day and had to be lodged in a hotel as a result of a part in the aeroplane that needed to be fixed.
ReplyDeleteBut for this case, i cannot believe that this passengers were asked to contribute for aviation fuel jeezzzz. And then come back later for their luggage wth. Where does that happen? Only in naija.
Is Jimoh Ibrahim really broke or what? Or is he been negligent. God help us.
My dear Linda please what would happen to people like us who have a return ticket to Nigeria on the 22nd from the uk if air Nigeria is no longer flying... You have to intercede for us my dear because I cannot afford buying another ticket.
ReplyDeleteChoi 40 quid ke .... na molue be that ooo
ReplyDeletewww.gamugaza.blogspot.com
1year is too small na haba! UseleSs ppl
ReplyDeleteLol, who sent them? Did they not see BA or even Virgin befor they went to air Nigeria? " cheap article "... hehe
ReplyDeleteWhat an epic ending to the movie "Air Nigeria"...lol. #PROUDLY NAIJA
ReplyDeleteAll things bright n beautiful...
ReplyDeleteIts cumin to dem one by one. Thats wat d aviation industry deserves for declining services.
ReplyDeleteNothing ceases to amaze me. This is another level of Nigeria's incompetence and failure(s). When you purchase a flight ticket, it covers all expenses: meal, aircraft maintenance, fuel, overhead-costs, etc. To make passengers contribute 40 pounds prior to boarding due to "no-fuel" is a shame, and utterly disrespectful and damaging to our image (which in my case needs a serious face-lift). Hey, Nigeria, wake up! All that money you spend frivolously on entertainment and miscellaneous government expenses should be reassessed, maybe you should use it and better our infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteNaija we hail thee. And Oga Braimoh Jimoh said everything is fyn and dat d airline is not going bankrupt. After sacking some staff and now this. Lets see what he has to say next.
ReplyDeleteThis is unbelievable. Wat??? Don't even know wat do say
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad.
ReplyDeleteCheck out http://myothercarisaplane.blogspot.com/
Is that gatwick airport??? And they say nigeria airport no try! Dis one no try joor! Looks like ekene dili chukwu waiting hall.
ReplyDeleteDats obviously Nigeria.
DeleteJimoh Ibro is jst a total failure shikena
ReplyDeletetufiakwa nigeria. Disgracing their selves evrywhere in anytin.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised at all. This Jimoh guy is something else. Those are the so called wizkids that OBJ imposed on us! Heard he runs these business like a private entity. They have to seek his approval to fuel an aircraft. This guy doesnt pay his Lagos State refuse bill and they stopped collecting his trash, what did Jimoh do? he dumps his refuse into the lagoon behind his house in VGC! Someone told me how he stopped his convoy to take a leak on Lekki expressway. The list is endless. I dont blame anybody but OBJ for enriching this moron. He has sold all the assets of Nigerian Airways both here and in London. OBJ's fronts, that why he gets away with all these bullshit. Money miss road. Bush Igbotako, Ondo State boy
ReplyDeleteIts a Shame to Nigeria and to NCAA,the aviation system is mesd up.Jimoh Ibrahim shud be arested along side wit First Nation Airline CEO kayode Odukoya,dose2men av no staff n customer frrlings and dey owe staff 4months salary
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking joke, shame on air Nigeria pricks . I could never use such air line . When I visited Nigeria in april I used klm all d way.
ReplyDeleteShame on Jimoh Ibrahim and his Incompetent airline! They passengers shuld sue his ass... How will u ask passengers to contribute money for fuel (lmao) kai kai..... Nigerians sha!
ReplyDeleteIt is nt a small smtin.
ReplyDeleteNa wa o. This our country never ceases to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder if nigeria is real, some of the things I hear and see are almost unbelievable, donate fuel money for airline to fly,and am almost sure like other issues MR Jimoh would get away with this.
ReplyDeleteOkay I siddon dey pray
Whateva happened to flying Virgin/British Airways/Air france or even Arik wit their sweaty sky rather than being patrio-idiotic wit d brand called Air Nigeria
ReplyDeleteYou see...na only 9ja people dem go do that one for..Mtchewwwww! There should be a part of the law that can be used against their sorry ass and then they should be made to pay heavy!
ReplyDeleteNaija una too much, coffee wey i dey drink hia comot my nose as i read this
Its tru... My father was on the flight. Even when he was leaving Nigeria, they cut his luggage to steal stuffs.. Very stupid people.
ReplyDeleteIt's only in Nigerian that things like this can happen and nothing gets done. Lawlessness in the land. The man was supposed to take care of everybody that previously purchased tickets, stop selling new tickets before shutting down. But who cares.
ReplyDeleteLet's see what the court will do..rme.
My blog.. http://ashirigbakaute.blogspot.com/
Cheii... 9ja! r we movin 4ward or backward?
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know Air Nigeria was flying international! Who sanctioned that hot mess?! You're talking about an airline that has never been able to manage domestic flights. Is it now international ones? All this attempting to keep up with the Joneses when we can't even manage small things *smh*
ReplyDeleteGod is watching o
ReplyDeleteAre u guys stupid? Who flies a Nigerian airline? If they can't afford fuel, then they can't afford to maintain their fleet. So y risk ur life abeg?
ReplyDeleteThis is rubbish naaaaa. Kai 9ja my mother land!
ReplyDeletekai!!! naija is jst hopeless...o offence
ReplyDeleteEverything jimoh Ibrahim touches turns to ashes!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDis idiots deStroyed my bags and stole my stuffs....air nigeria has failed so badly.
ReplyDeleteCountry of outlaws...how did that buffon Jimoh..acquire a license!!
ReplyDeleteReally, A̶̲̥̅♏ Seriiusly waiting for the fulfilment of that part of my president's speech, "I will be the most praised". Before he leaves offices, coz everything that goes along with his administration spells failure, fuel subsidy, has encouraged embezzelment like predicted by Nigerians, he cannot do anything abt it, aviation sector is becoming more of a failure dan it was, traveling expenses on the parts if the ministers $ gov officials is on the alarming side, unemployment as nt only increased but evil acts like Boko Haram dat never existed or dared to show its face is not dancing $ laughing in our faces, president's wife goes to a forieng hospital for treatment of either food poisning or ruptures apendix, present wife of the president $ wife of the fornern president fight publicly in the court of law, over a sumptous piece of land, $ many more dat cannot be mentioned. Govt officals make issues like limiting the right of the press $ introducing new currency pertinent issues. More than 4 months subsidy can be said to have been removed, which of the exisiting refineries dat was the shout den been taken care of or, in the porcess of been taken care of? My heart bleeds
ReplyDeleteir nigeria should be changed to Jimoh airways, cos its a big shame that a nation cannot operate an airline.he is soiling d name "nigeria" for goodness sake.look at kenya and ethiopia, doing very well.Giant of africa indeed.plzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteJoke right?OMG...
ReplyDeleteThey shud sue his sorry ass,the guy is just wrecking companies left right and centre!hissss.meanwhile linda av you heard that nigeria plans2give our gold medalist N1.2m I think that's the height of injustice.dese pple brought us honour and glory and all they get is money our president uses 2feed in a day.my mum told me sum yrs back, almost 10yrs now.D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣ gave ∂ gold medialist 1m so 4rm den till now its jus 200k more they deserve?do you no they pay pple D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ give national honour 12m.and we all know the pple who collect these national honours, jus few of them merit it.even chinua achebe rejected wen offered.if they can release 12m 4those pple I expect nothin less than 15m 4our paraolympians.they deserve every penny.Note:I av no family member among the athletes but I feel 4dem.wasn't it on this blog we read that russia gave deir olympians cars.ok o,pls linda look in2 dis story 2confirm if its tru. Post my comment o ehen
ReplyDeleteThe lesson to be learnt. Awuf dey run belle. Only because of the extra allowance Air Nigeria gives its customers, people boycott quality for quantity. Thats what you get!
ReplyDeleteJimoh Ibrahim is a DESTROYER, anything he acquires does not see the light of day again...mtsheeeew
ReplyDeleteI hope d passengers sue him for all he is worth, what rubbish asking d passengers to pay extra to purchase fuel...arrrrrghh!!
Lafff wan tear my belle, what happened to the airfares that were paid that will give the airline the audacity to collect extra 40quid, this is so hilarious. We need to privatise the entire nation including the courts and Fed Govt. So that Oyibo will build operate and transfer init? Naija my country I can't stop laughing and crying at the same time. God save us.
ReplyDeleteThis is so Pathetic!! Nigeria-always different....God help us
ReplyDeletehow will u enter a plane abroad with Nigeria written on it? I cannot try it.
ReplyDeleteAnytin goes in 9ja.. Na wah o.
ReplyDeleteI had ugly experiences in the past. My advice to Nija folks is stop flying with these cheap airlines that clearly have no regard for people who make them money.
ReplyDeleteI fly with British Airways or other reputable airlines with good track record. No airline is perfect but like the saying goes, "Buy cheap, buy twice"
I am going to buy another ticket cos obviously he has stolen money Nigerian citizens and yet no plans to refund us for flying his dead trap planes...... I will lick my wounds but he must surely pay from stealing peoples money and not giving a shit.
ReplyDeleteDat stealing of things from luggage ish has happened to my dad b4 d same air nigeria I don't get dis country anymore
ReplyDeletehmm they will start flyin in 3 months...mtchwww nigerians love money too much mehn
ReplyDeletemtchewwwww theyve been like this from day 1!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletemy mum was trying to buy a ticket with them coz it was so cheap compared to any other airline!!
no wonder...
And im sure they will still be accepting money for tickets
Jimoh Ibrahim has succeeded in embarassing us publicly,nd nit jst publicly, internationally. Lik say I dey der,if I hear say I pay dt 40 pounds..................even if na 40 naira,I no go pay shingbain.y did I buy a ticket,cn dey allow me owe 40 pounds?? Cn dey dash me 40 pounds if I approach dem dt I dnt hav money to fuel my car?? Dem dey madt.
ReplyDeletelemme put it this way
ReplyDeletejimoh is now a new word in the dictionary, 'jimoh' simply put means, to have the ability to ruin anytin u touch! i.e. "my son asked me for money to start a business, but since i know he is always a jimoh, i wont oblige him!"
LOL
how come a 6 hour flight turned to a 8 hour flight???
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS A BLOODY LIE, THEY WERE NOT ASKED TP PAY A DIME!!!! both my parents were on that flight and i called to confirm this and they said they were not asked to pay a dime and the flight was as smooth as ever.
ReplyDeletemy parents even said there were rumours before they boarded that the airline was not going to serve food on the plane but they were served as normal on the flight.
so me i dunno where this rumour started from. Nigerian forever spoiling our own name!!!
There is a very simple solution to all this nonsense. Simply hit the companies that treat you like crap where it hurts....in the pocket. This makes then listen to peoples views, 10 times out of time!
ReplyDeleteShameful to say the least
ReplyDeleteI think d airline shld be restricted frm flyin untill dey get deir bearings. I can neva board such an airline whether local or international. My family frnd dt came in last wknd said the same tin, flight dt was to take off arnd 9AM was delayed till 3pm. u can imagine such tins
ReplyDeleteNational Award in earnest!!..Bloody psychophants!!
ReplyDeleteDISGRACEFUL ALL NIGERIAN AIRLINES ARE USELESS AND EVEN OTHER COUNTRIES ARE USING NIGERIA AS A DUMPING GROUND FOR THEIR AIRLINES.
ReplyDeleteAS FOR ME AND FAMILY, I WILL NEVER FLY ANYTHING NIGERIA EVEN IF ITS FREE
Jimoh Ibrahim is an Economic Boko Haram .... If u dont knw now u know
ReplyDeletefollow @GaMuGaZa

i wonder if all this $20 we pay for luggage is really for fuel. LOLOL the white man try small sha, they call it "tax, luggage fee, xtra lugage." but in 9ja we call "aviation fuel/xmas bonus"
ReplyDeletei wonder if all this 20 dollars extra we pay for luggage in the US, is really for fuel. at least the white man uses more political correct names to describe it. "luggage fee" "extra tax," but turst 9ja they call it what it is " aviation fuel/xmas bonus" :):):)
