May D, Square Records Split

P-Square's record label, Square Records, just released a statement announcing the end of their business relationship with the only other artist on their label, the very talented Mr May D. See the statement below...
To Whom It May Concern
I, Jude 'Engees' Okoye of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences.
We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.
Yours Faithfully

  22. Knew it will happen someday,Square records is all about the twins and the twins alone. May D never blended with their style, and he was as unnoticed as d Linesman. Wishing him d best sha.~BONARIO~says so via NOKIA3310.

  23. They probably had artistic differences about what May D's brand should be. Might not have been personal. And honestly I think May D will be fine. He's got talent and should know the industry my now. Wish him all the best. Can't wait to see how he blossoms.

  24. Wetin appen naa!!!!all d best May d!!!go college bustop

  25. Wats d big deal, every group and partnership must end one day, either by irreconcilable differences or death... So nothing new

  26. Maybe he was the one that leaked Alingo. Because I don't see any other reason for him to be dropped from the label. He was doing very well with them with Ile Ijo which still remains my favourite. Anyway, I wish him all the best with his career, because I'm sure he can do without them and their copy copy singles.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Frm me to u, they will definitely bring the guy bcos he is multi talented wit a unique voice. D irreconcilable mata Na moni mata Na. Abi him no Sabi he is doing biz wit igbo men???

    ReplyDelete
  28. They probably got scared that he was taking their shine with all his hit singles so they dropped him. With their fail of a song called Alingo. Copied Timaya all throughout the song mschewww. May D is original, which is what I like about him.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This seems like they Fired him tho...na wao...I believe the guy will do well, coz he's @ least Original....compared to them them

    ReplyDelete
  30. As a sure boi......You should have stayed away from family business.

  48. If you are surprised by this then something is wrong. P Square has an antecedent of using people without giving credit, they are selfish and self centred. This is a group that used Waje on "Do me" single without any reference to the poor lady until she voiced out. She was not even featured in the video and no mention was made of her contributions even on the album. They claim Engees shoots their video but Engees has never shot videos for anyone else like Clarence Peters, Patrick Elis, Akin Alabi etc in the industry apart from P Square. How are we sure someone's effort is not being usurped by Engees?. Since they started they have never helped anyone successfully instead they use people without giving them credit or kudos. Its unfortunate they have used May D again but I know without P Square, May D will succeed. He needs a good record label that recognises talent and not charlatans like P Square. Good riddance.
