Emekuku Family of 9 Died Of Generator Fume – Imo State Govt

On Monday July 9th, nine members of the same family died mysteriously in their home. Neighbours and other family members said their deaths was spiritual.

But the Imo state government said it has finally unraveled the cause of death of the Emekuku family. According to the autopsy result released yesterday by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Obi Njoku, they were killed by generator fume poisoning.

The commissioner said the family slept and forgot to switch off their generator set and subsequently died as a result of the generator fume they inhaled while asleep and not by ‘evil spirits'

    1. Because africans are lazy! They don't like to think or analyze a situation! That's why white people are enjoying a rich life while Africans live in severe poverty! Africans when faced with a problem will say God will solve it, when the problem is not solved they will say it was juju or the devil's work.

  34. All of you talking nonesense there. E be like say una never reach Naija before. Or una no get family or friends wey poor. How much is a small "I better pass my neighbour"? Quite cheap. The way the average peeps save to buy medium sized gen even with no car, thats how these folks buy those small gens. They probably used it to power a fan and light bulbs.

What I think happened: They got back from market and put on the gen (which was probably in a hall way or even in that room for security). The gas made them all dizzy and they passed out then died. The man that said the gen was off when he got there must be a fool. If the small fuel wey dem put finish, the gen no go off? Na wa ooo.

  54. Carbon monoxide killed them! Sad Sad Sad and all our head of states will be doing yanga around....This is murder because in the 21st century Nigeria should not be hurting from NEPA

    ReplyDelete
  55. Its obvious there's a lot of ignorance about carbon monoxide poisoning. This gas is colorless and odorless. Even if they weren't sleeping, they wud at best have a headache feel faint and dizzy, b4 going unconscious. No gasping, no feeling of distress. And if the levels are high enough it can cause death within MINUTES.

If there's a generator in d corridor or even outside (as long as d fumes are directed into the house,), then there's cause for suspicion.. Even if the generator is nt their own. Overcrowding will worsen the effects as more people will be competing for the available oxygen in the air.

So people, let's educate ourselves, explore all the logicals b4 skipping 2 the spiritual. I am a proud African and I do believe in spirits and forces beyond our control. Bt in this case, there are lessons 2 be learnt and precautions 2 take. A word is enough 4 the wise o.

  63. Ask them in Hiroshima during the 2nd world war how they all perished includng plants!!...welcome to the world of chemical poisoning..

    ReplyDelete
  64. It is called Carbon Monoxide poisoning. This gas is dangerous, because it is odorless and if inhaled it kills rather very quickly after incapacitating the victim who most of the time never crosses back from that till death all in a short space of time. These should be used as education material for others. More has to come from this. Unfortunately there are some bloggers who think the fume can't kill. Please be aware it does. Even in very developed countries like US these unfortunate domestic accidents do happen.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Okay I dont gerrit... was the generation inside the apartment?

Or did the fumes travel from outside into the house?

Before una abuse my ignorance level, na question I dey ask

    ReplyDelete
  66. God of mercy. Who on this planet earth that doesn't know how poisonous generator fume is? until they have mind to use it inside the house and slept off. Incredible.
