Margaret Ekpo Funmilayo Ransome Kuti Hajiya Gambo Sawaba
The Central Bank of Nigeria this evening announced that it will introduce the N5, 000 note into the system, but contrary to speculations that CBN planned to use Nigeria's late former president, Umar Musa Yar'adua's face on the note, it has now been announced that the faces of three late prominent Nigerian female activists will be used on the new notes which will be launched next year!
The women are:
1. Margaret Ekpo: late politician and social mobilizer (1914 - 2006)
2. Hajia Gambo Sawaba: late politician and activist (1933 - 2001)
3. Funmilayo Kuti: lte politician and women's right activist (1900 -1978)
Nice one CBN! They also plan to convert the N5, N10 and N20 notes to coins next year!
why 5000 naira note???
ReplyDeleteWot if I misplace a note? Na die
DeleteHian, abeg its too much 4 a note, 5000 kwa?
Naija sha, dey shud try n increase d value of naira instead of dis rubbish.
Naby...!!!!
Why #5000 note? Is tht d next problem for Nigeria to be solved? Unhnnnnnnnm. Instead for Jonathan to circulate money nd remove poverty from Nig. he still want to create another problem in increasing ritualists. God arise nd help us do not forsake us in Nigeria.
DeleteShei u have stopped posting my comments abi? No wahala
DeleteNaby...!!!!!
Pls nigerians we cannot sit in d comfort of our homes and condemn d thoughtless acts of our clueless leaders while de go on introducing selfish policies and plans dat does not in any way better lives of d citizenry. We need to rise up and do something for Gods sake! I mean dis is democracy,d opinion of d masses must b considered in their decision making!
DeleteThe situation in dis country is getting out of hand,d powere to effect a change lies wit us.d youths of dis nation, unless we collectively rebel and protest nothing and I repeat, absolutely nothing wud b done, and no amount of prayer wud change dat!
Why did you put that intelligent yoruba woman who is even one of the first activists(aside from Moremi) in naija history. Stop disrespecting my people o Linda. Go mama Kuti! wish I had half the balls you had
ReplyDeleteGoing tribalistic?
DeleteHow ignorant!!
So some people will collect in a single note? God help us. Bigger denominations mean the value of our naira is completely down hill.
ReplyDeleteOne bundle will be 500000 making it easier for people to steal and loot. Nigeria sha. Lamido Sanusi is a big idiot. A big big idiotic bastard.
ReplyDeletePls easy wif d insult ! Hian
DeleteAs in! Stealing would be made easier. And the coins they want to covert. I doubt if we wud be using it sef. Wen was the last time we used coins.

ReplyDeleteAnd Ghana.but dey r copying wrong. To introduce a 5k note; 2k note must first be introduced
Deletewhat is nice about the idea.
ReplyDeleteI still dont see a need for a 5000 naira note .
You have POS, Cheques, Bank Draft, ATM(Debit/Credit).
What is the need for a 5 000 naira note
Wow! That wuld be great, looking 4ward 2 it. Who says it's not a woman's world with women's faces adorning d new money. *amrra*
ReplyDeleteOde nie!!!
DeleteAre you for real?
DeleteHow does this help to make nigeria a cashless economy?besides if they change 5,10,and 20 naira notes to coins it means people will no longer use them
ReplyDeleteexactly and it also means that there wld be inflation in the prices of goods and services. Some people are filling their pockets with money while others are suffering just bcos of this stupid idea
DeleteI second dat ooo.......transport fares wil even be ridiculous as conductors wont wanna b collecting & making change with coins.(i dnt c any utmost need for it @ all, rabbish!) People who board commercial buses to work are in soup from next year and i bet there wont b increment in salaries, every oda thing is gon b inflated(Nigerian's who are called to obey but still suffer each day.....Eme's 'change' should b theme song for naija evry day nao) #national anthem
DeleteBad idea.
ReplyDeleteWHo is that Hausa woman? I never read about her... Idiotas
ReplyDeleteBigot! With all the money your parent spent to send you to school, you couldn't be more than that. Pity
DeleteNo! No!! No!!! We do not need 5000naira notes. Countries are thinking of how to lower the denominations and we are thinking of how to increase ours? Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteRubbish!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm writing this comment in an unknown place (because I missed my bus) but relatively safe country, but I'm still sure of my safety. but can I say this about my own country? Where all the useless rulers know is how to make the economy worse. 5000 bill? When the UK nd the Us do not have 1000 bill, Nigeria is introduing 5000! May God save us from own selves.
ReplyDeleteHorrible idea and for someone who hated math, even I know that! doesn't that reduce the value of our naira? higher denominations that is
ReplyDeleteI'm no economist but won't we get the exact opposite of what going cashless is trying to promote? Also, that's just mad incentive for inflation. The naira will be devalued further, won't it? I mean, 20 naira coins? Really? They tried with the one and two naira coins and yet when Shoprite charges me 999 naira and I give them 1000 they automatically keep the change and think issorai.
ReplyDeleteGambo who?
ReplyDeleteare u kidding me? y d fuck will they ever conceive such a ridiculous idea? who does that? Nigeria. Lord y was i born in dis country? y oh y? d country shd kukuma divide. im fucking fed up...mtcheww
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is a good idea. The Value of our Naira is droping b dat.N ppl won't use does coins.
ReplyDeletevery soon , tom tom will sell for 2 for 50 Naira.. Rubbish country
ReplyDeleteJesu!!! Nigeria is finished.... them pple will be able to launder money very well now. it is well
ReplyDeleteThis is nonsense! There would be nothing to buy with those coins. Things that should normally cost N10 would now be 3 for N50. Ever wondered why we buy sweets 3 for N10? That is because nobody would accept N3 coins for just one sweet. This is just the WRONG move, making things harder for the masses. What a country!
ReplyDeleteDo we have any hope for this country?
ReplyDeleteThese CBN govs introduced new notesClement Isong - 50k, N1, N5, N10 & N20; Abdul Ahmed - N50; Joseph Sanusi - N100, N200 & N500; Charles Soludo - N1000; Lamido Sanusi - N5000.this is not a good news @ all. This will reduce the value of the currency. I'm sure pure water wl be #50 because naija pple dt spend coins. $100 is d highest denomination in US, £50 is d highest in UK even d highest in UAE is 1000 durams, I wonder why naija's own wl be #5000. Anyway, enu e lawa yii.
ReplyDeleteNigeria 2 dey copy na dem dis COSON pple 4 suit go court.

ReplyDeleteThis is crazy. These pple no longer want to steal billions bt trillions. THINK MUDERFUCKERS!!! INFLATION!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a big shame. He's not reducing interest rate or inflation rate, its money he's printing. What wisdom. I wonder where this country is headed. So what we really need right now to develop the economy is a larger denomination? God bless Nigeria
ReplyDeleteHe just want to get his name signed on the Nigerian currency.
ReplyDeleteSanusi u ar an idiot why 5000 note so u what 2 use dis style 2 steal our money
ReplyDeleteR u ok? Tis linda, wat is nice one wt 5000k mscheewww.
ReplyDeletethe bringing of the 5,000 naira note and conversion of 5,10,and 20 naira is completely appalling, instead of thinking about ways to get the naira more circulation, that monkey lamido is coming up with this outplaced and stupid idea, this will mean a complete devalue of most denominations of the naira especially the ones which are about to be changed to coins, bcuz eventually they will be abandoned and done away with by nigerians who prefer spending notes.this act is stupid and should thus be reversed.i wonder what the president is doing about this bullshit.damn.
ReplyDeleteNigeria iyaf finish
ReplyDeleteU see their plans? Una see their plan? They want to destroy nigeria patapata. Ahhh Oluwa ba wan wi. With this naira will fall , looting & stealing very easy, Oluwa ooo oju yin da?

ReplyDelete5k note? Oh boy! If u misplace that one na to sleep for 3rd mainland bridge oo... Lolz!
ReplyDeleteI wonder wat d cashless nigeria is all about now, cos dis Sanusi guy doesn't know how to priortise, other countries r looking for ways to encourage pple to use POS and other electronic means of buying and selling, ours is making our naira lose value. God help our generations Oº°˚˚°º
ReplyDeletenice comment, wastful and selfish govt will have, way to looth money causeing inflation in d economy.selfish govt

ReplyDeleteTis is jst not good 4 d country ryt nw, people will no longer use 5-20 naira, and inflation, it will nw be easy to say dat on sandal is 5000, dis is jst a very bad turn, God help us
ReplyDeletewith the high rate of stagflation in the economy,is this d best line of action, instead of bring in monetary and fisical policies that will improve d economy,of what use will this 5000 naira note be to the economy on d longrun, mallam sanusi pls this policy will dwindle the economy on d longrun.
ReplyDeleteYou asking about the hausa woman, if you don't know her, it doesn't mean she never existed. I am sure there are more than a thousand Nigeria women like these women that you don't even know there names and the legacies they left behind.
ReplyDeleteTis is jst not good 4 d country ryt nw, people will no longer use 5-20 naira, and inflation, it will nw be easy to say dat on sandal is 5000, dis is jst a very bad turn, God help us
ReplyDeleteHa.I can't just look over this tori. This man is about to crash this currency finally.Coin is not in nigeria market women orientation.so how is this not going to cause inflation? 5,000 naira note will contradict the cashless program they have been clamoring. What is the essence of issuing a bank draft when i can easily put 500,000 naira in my pocket. They seriously need to think about this.
ReplyDeleteSanusi Lamido is a big FOOL. I guess GEJ and other bigger cabals are d brain behind dis illicit act. They have succeeded in creating an avenue to LOOT Money. God help Nigeria!
ReplyDeleteanoda method of devaluing the value of naira. May God help us!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm! If u loss this kind one or dem snatch like 4notes from u......na 20k loss be dat ohhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteShET!! ShET!!! ShET!!! Their plans have worked ... We already complaining of the billion billion , we have been hearing on the news now na Trillion , smh!! With this , 1) inflation 2) deplection in value 3) Low risk for them in Looting away cashing. 4)high risk level for banks and citizens in general .. Chineke ... @morlardybaba
ReplyDelete@ anon 8.33 pm you never read about her because you are an ignorant and empty headed southerner who knows nothing about Nigerian history. Even with a smart phone you still exhibit your dumbness. SMH Blondie.
ReplyDeleteThis is really a bad idea, #5000 note??? and 100 coin???..... Even with America $1 note they are complaining of economy crash, God knows what will become of Naija....
ReplyDeleteFinally they want to kill the common man. We so don't need the 5k currency o
ReplyDeleteonly if SANUSI WOULD JUST DIE.... that man is the devils incarnate. nothing good has come out since he has come into governorship. what do we need 500 naira note for... while other people are trying to increase the value of their currency we we are reducing ours. even a senior secondary economics student would know that this has so many negative effects on our country and our economy but ALMIGHTY SANUSI ... no..... i personally think hes purposely destroying this country's economy because even i can do better and i never graduate university... pls GOD y would innocent people be dying all over the world when rouges like sanusi live... y GOD Y??
ReplyDeleteme i tot we were going cashless o... whats all this 5000 naira note things... doesnt that contradict the essence of a cashless society.
ReplyDeleteVeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery bad idea: means more money laundering, inflation and naira devaluation....
ReplyDeleteWhat are they bringing out #5000 note for,smh for my country
ReplyDeletehaba some peeps earn just 10k every month haba. This is evil, wetin do cashless nko. These guys are really silly
ReplyDeleteLeaders in Nigeira are always bringing up what will not move the country forward. Just to think of it what are the reasons, justifications, motive of introducing this Note. CBN giving reasons that other countries has such not yet strong economy, how does that in line with Nigeiran's economy. This move is just for their self movties. No body came with money into this world someday we will leave without it.
ReplyDeleteWHY dont u make N5,000,000.00 SINGLE NOTE. What do you expect? When we are govern by BUNCH OF CLUELESS,SHOELESS,IDEALESS,MANNERLESS,HUMOURLESS,WOMANLESS,FATHERLESS,RESPECTFULLESS,SHAMELESS AND HOPELESS SET OF PEOPLE..OH I swear na cry i de cry....oh oh..oh..mama miiiiii...CBN KINI.....OH OH.
ReplyDeleteNYC-1 says: First, the woman called Gambo does not fit into the pedigree of a National Hero. It's a slap in the face to the legacy of Margaret Ekpo and Fumilayo Kuti. Whoever influenced the selection is an IMBECILE. Second, devaluation of currency is reasonable only when a country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceed import. What do you manufacture in Nigeria for exportation? Third, Sanusi premise might be base on the fact that advance countries have large denominations. True of course! however, what he failed to say is that these large denominations are in stocks and in bonds and only the banks trade in such denominations. To underscore my point, have you ever seen anyone carrying more than $100.00 bills in the U.S.? I beg your pardon, I know we are talking about Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThe N5000.00 denomination is just one of the signals that Nigeria is a failed State.
N5000.00 Face Value with a Real Value of N25.00. Hopeless Rulers.
Finally, dey've succeeded in makin money laundrin easy n. Convenient 4 demselves....license 2 steal more.
ReplyDeleteNigeria seems to be on the road to hyperinflation if care is not taking. Sanusi needs to be sacked because 5000 naira notes are not the answer.
ReplyDeleteBefore sanusi, dollar was 120 to 130 naira, now its between 150 to 165 with no plans of going down, when will all these fools stop ruling nigeria, its surprising that even the educated ones act so unintelligent. soon nigeria will be like zimbabwe, the policians will be able to steal more money.kai we don suffer
ReplyDeleteThis Gambo lady...I know she grew up in the north but she is not full Nigerian...her father is Ghanaian but oooh well
ReplyDeleteIs that supposed to help our country?.....smh...
ReplyDeleteHmmm..........I wonder where tomorrows leaders are.......since I was born......its been the same old corrupt generation.......now it seems to be infiltrating the "new leaders of tomorrow"..... Naija wise up oooo......#N5000note.....I laff in igbo language...Ochi
Cashless system and then 5000 Naira note. Sanusi is truly a "blockhead". Even a primary school kid knows this is nonsense. He is just a religious bigot. Please Nigerians, use every means possible to stop this act.
ReplyDeletedoesn't make single sense 2 me o, 5000, 4 easy move abi, lamido u beta reason wel o,
ReplyDeleteIntroducing higher denomination of the naira isn't the magic wand we need to transform our economy. What are these policy makers learning from from other countries? sanusi should dream of better things to do to move us forward rather than backwards.Talking of going cashless and at the same time introducing 5,000 note shows he's confused and has nothing to give.
ReplyDeleteare we mad in this country !? No one is talkin Abt increasing exportable commodities to boost economy .... these idiotas are talkin Abt laws for the rich , how dis wan go benefit poor masses naa Olugbenga
ReplyDeleteAn Open Letter to Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Governor of CBN: CBN to launch N5,000 notes
ReplyDeleteDear Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,
As noted, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will very likely release into the market on September 1, 2012, a N5,000 currency, The Sun Newspaper, August 9, 2012. Mallam, this may be the worst business decision to be taken by Central Bonk of Nigeria since independency because of its mix implications. The Nigerian economy is not strong enough to handle this type of harsh economic policy since the economy depends solely on the stability of oil price. Also, the timing of this policy is wrong due to the worrisome economic developments of the nation. Mallam, you should put into consideration the high inflation rate (hyperinflation) this decision may cause. Above all, when combined with concerns about counterfeiting, it
becomes more scaring why you should take such a “radical” economic decision at this point in time.
Mallam, for your note, a short history about high-denomination notes: courtesy of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: high-denomination currency was prevalent from the very beginning
of U.S. Government. Interest-bearing notes of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 were issued at different time. However, the U.S. Federal Reserve began taking high-denomination bills out of circulation in 1969. As of May 30, 2009, there were only 336 known $10,000 bills known to exist; 342 remaining $5,000 bills; and 165,372 remaining $1,000 bills. For the most part, these bills were used by banks and the Federal Government for large financial transactions. However, the introduction of the electronic money system has made large-scale cash transactions obsolete.
On the other hand, I do not know who you are trying to impress.
However, this is unpopular way to immortalize Yar’Adua’s and others because this option will surely destroy the national
economy. Nigeria should embrace high rate of inflation.
Mallam, I hope that you reconsider your decision in line with the trends of 21st century technology so that Nigeria doesn’t end up like Zimbabwe.
I wish you all the luck in your business decisions.
#5000 note??This is sooo ridiculous,misplace a note and you collapse :| *motherfxckers
ReplyDeleteN5000 notes?
ReplyDeletechange N5, 10 & 20 to coins?
Oh no! our Naira will lose value the more!
The exchange rate to a dollar will be alarming.
I don't support this.
if someone lost 5k, it will not be funny!
Makes fraud easier to commit!
This is sad. Nigeria's economy is worse than politicians and the government let on.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe SOLID naira are now coins.
Doesn't bode well at all.
Na wa oh, so I can carry 5 million in my handbag and waka, May God help us. I wish I had a cane to flog sense into Sanusi's head.
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh, so I can carry 5 million in my handbag and waka, May God help us. I wish I had a cane to flog sense into Sanusi's head.
ReplyDeleteEven runz girls go inflate their charges naa. When they know say dem fit carry 500k inside purse
ReplyDeleteLolZZzz ... This funny n senseless walai!... ✽̤̥̈̊they ̷̐ ̈́ ̈́ ͂ ̐ only think of how they can grow rich the more and leave poor and needy ones bak to their former state ... They only creatin easy access τ̣ their money laundering issue ... Cashless policy .. Lolzzz going cashless I see it az a disaster globally
ReplyDeleteI can bet the three historical leaders would be turning on their grave right now. What significance does that add to the welfare of the citizens of Nigeria. And to you Linda, what is nice about this? Harder times ahead.. Shame!!!
ReplyDeleteI see so many emotional, baseless, and ignorant posts about the new note. These comments are akin to the beer parlour comments you read on 'Nairaland', 'Sahara Reporters', etc! Did you know that CBN has a Board (consisting of the Governor, the Deputy Governors, and external members who constitute the majority, including Professors, and officials of the Federal Ministry of Finance, AGF, etc)? Did you know that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has the best crop of independent Economists in Nigeria as members? Did you know that this policy was well-considered? People, especially none bankers, just post thrash based on emotions! For good measure, and for those who know, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (SLS) is one of Nigeria's best 3 CBN Governors ever in history!!! This is from a banker of almost 2 decades and who really know what most ignorant posters do not know! And for ethnic jingoists, I'm Yoruba, but I am objective!!!
ReplyDeletethis sanusi guy just like to be noticed shaa even if he makes decision to Naijas peril Wetin ngozi Dey do naa Oya tell gej to slap am god help u if u take 5000 fake note
ReplyDeleteCBN, CBN, CBN !!!!!!! I honestly do not understand this atall.... You introduced cashless policy, and by that you mean the cash policy aims to curb some of the negative consequences associated with the high usage of physical cash in the economy, including:
ReplyDeleteHigh cost of cash: There is a high cost of cash along the value chain - from the CBN & the banks, to corporations and traders; everyone bears the high costs associated with volume cash handling.
High risk of using cash: Cash encourages robberies and other cash-related crimes. It also can lead to financial loss in the case of fire and flooding incidents.
High subsidy: CBN analysis showed that only 10percent of daily banking transactions are above 150k, but the 10percent account for majority of the high value transactions. This suggests that the entire banking population subsidizes the costs that the tiny minority 10percent incur in terms of high cash usage.
Informal Economy: High cash usage results in a lot of money outside the formal economy, thus limiting the effectiveness of monetary policy in managing inflation and encouraging economic growth.
Inefficiency & Corruption: High cash usage enables corruption, leakages and money laundering, amongst other cash-related fraudulent activities.
SO, my dear CBN is 5,000naira note note a HUGE CASH? Please you can not just wake up and decide things, So i am giving you an option to choose is it cashless policy you wanna do or you wanna increase the note for robbery .
Somebody get Sanusi outta there fast!!!!
ReplyDeleteNigeria certainly needs a revolution to get to the stage we all dream about . 5,000 note will only give room for this people to organize more contracts to steal more money nothing else ,This initiative is in the best interest of the government and not the masses,i MEAN WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT A 5,000 NOTE HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO HELP THE POOR IN ANYWAY HOW D HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO CREATE MORE JOBS FOR PEOPLE,HOW D HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO STOP BOKO HARAM FROM HARMING CHRISTIANS IN THE NORTH,CAMMON WE HAVE BIGGER ISSUES TO DEAL WITH.COME TO THINK OF IT AV NEVER SEEN A 5,000 DOLLAR/POUNDS NOTE BEFORE SO PLEASE OOO TELL ME WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT.AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN OUR YOUTHS COMMIT A CRIME WE BLAME THEM FORGETTING WHAT MUST HAVE DRIVEN THEM TO COMMIT THIS CRIMES.GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN HAS FAILED WOEFULLY.
ReplyDeleteTHE ONLY REASON WHY CELEBS OR RATHER KNOWN FACES IN THE COUNTRY WONT TALK BAD ABOUT ISSUES LIKE THIS IS SIMPLY COS NO1 INTENDS TO FALL OUT OF FAVOUR WITH THE GOVERNMENT.CASHLESS SOCIETY BUT YET NEW NOTES ARE BEING INTRODUCED.THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT KEEPS FUCKING WITH OUR BRAINS.
ReplyDeleteEven a layman on the streets know the pains and devaluation this move will cos. Every one who has commented so far, except one or two, can see this. But the CBN gov who's supposed to be a professional and an elite can't see this? Smh.
ReplyDeleteWhat's worse is that, we as citizens only talk, no action. This was done without any consultation (in a democratic setting), yet no counter action by the masses. Smh.... We are all living in a matrix in Naija. D pesn wey do us don die tay tay.
I think the best thing is for people who want to be rid of this madness, is to start organising militancy groups if the military will not step up and take the challenge. Cos Militants get the most positive attention from the Nigerian govt and masses alike.
This Sanusi of a clown is really clueless, how would the introduction of N5, 000 note improve the economy? this would just further cripple own nation, inflation would sky rock. i guess he just wants to have his name written on the new naira note. for pit sake, should'nt he be putting in policies that would move our economy forward???? Haba, how can one be this wicked to ones own home land...God have mercy on Nigeria.
ReplyDeletePlease somebody should tell me, is going cashless the same thing as carrying more money in less quantity of paper money ? Just thinking
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely unacceptable. The CBN should face its business of regulatory policy making and ensuring a robust economy. This is not what we need now
ReplyDeleteThe coins news is pretty much welcomed, but N5,000.00 note?? What's the economics behind that?? Or is it still the same old ease of loot tactics??
ReplyDeleteI dont care about the currency even if them want make them do 10,000 naira note but will that cleanse what they did to FUMILAYO KUTI.... God Bless Fela the King
ReplyDeleteY 5000 naira note, y did dey nt start with 2000 naira note. Ewoooo, financial isuez wil nah increase.... God help us ooo.
ReplyDeleteThis Sanusi is an idiot...Soludo remains the best CBN Governor we've had period!!!.
ReplyDeleteAh the good old days b4 blackberry, Brazilian hair, and limited parole and runs activities took over Nigerian women. The age of "relative innocence" is gone.*Sigh*.
ReplyDeleteHowever this policy underscores how far down the toilet the naira is going and addresses the loss incurred by the CBN in printing a few of the naira notes which have been turned to coins.
The public is yet to come to the reality of the reason for the introduction on the N5000 note.First is to make looting of large sum of money easier and the redesigning of all the notes is a ploy to reintroduce the Arabic inscription. Sanusi islamic agenda.Let rise up and resist it.
ReplyDeleteLinda Linda Linda,i guess they got you right where they wanted. Did you say "NICE",because the N5000 note will bear the faces this three women. Please lets not be carried out by the immortalization and lose sight of exactly what will become of Naija and us the citizens by introducing this currency. Sanusi i now know is a complete arrogant moron, only there to save the interest of those that put and have kept him in power. What is the need of the N5000 note if we are going cashless. Dont want to start on Ngozi Okonjo Iweala cos if this happens on her watch, she will be a big dissapointment and will sooner or later go the way of Dora. Don't these our leaders have conscience, why are they so selfish. Why is their ultimate aim to enrich themselves even if it means destroying the country in the process, Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteLinda pls you should know the economics of this policy and what it will do the common man, do not find anything nice about. Know the influence you have made with this blog and therefore choose your words carefully when writing. Just to make my point clear, i am not against using these women, God bless their souls. But im highly riled by the introduction of the currency which will serve the interest of those thieves in power.
I thought they are introducing cashless payment system..why the N5000 naira notes?
ReplyDeleteNigeria is the only country in the world where coins are not readily accepted. I suggest that we should redenominate our currency so that the N5, 000.00 will become N50.00
ReplyDeleteThis is to spite Ngozi and the Ibo woman; case closed.
ReplyDeleteIbo women/ladies are becoming more influencial than their counterparts.
Though Magaret Ekpo has an Ibo father; Yea but carrying that currency wont make it obvious with the name Ekpo; or even Margaret.
In any case, what ever economic sense 5000 denomination makes with cashless policy in place and no matter how many economist on the board of the CBN truly spoke their mind about this decision; I hope Sanusi is not just seeking for relevance in the history books.
Whatever the case is , I think Nnamdi Azikiwe should be at the top of whichever currency denomination Nigeria has as highest;
Period.
What is the sense in this , with a cashless policy in place.
ReplyDeleteIf they really want to mop up cash without the relevance of the cashless policy then they can introduce 100 k Notes or as far as they can go Notes why stop at 5000.
This is more political than anything else.
it is about Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Ibo women in general
Its okay to glorify women in our currencies, There is already a woman there. And several on the rear side of one denomination.
But why not a symbolic Aba women.
if this is about female activism particularly agaist colonialist or injustice.
Because
Queen Idia, Moremi or Queen Amina
would mean glorifying conquerers of other tribes (within the same country using the currency) and not their worriorship if u see it from the defeated party's side.
.
Why is Murtala Ramat Mohammed, a coup PLOTTER and assasinated as Head of State on the Naira Note
and Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi a Coup STOPPER and assasinated as Head of State; NOT ON ANY CURRENCY?
Cry The Beloved Country! 9ja is slowly going down the drain. How is dis 5k note going to help our almost dead economic bikonu? God please send us leaders before our rulers kill us o!

ReplyDeleteplease educate us, because you seem to be the only one who appears to know for a fact that this makes sense. I don't think everybody on this blog got up and assumed that one person in the Central bank made this decision, but obviously somebody has to be held accountable and it makes sense for the CBN governor to take the hit. So kindly tell us WHY Sanusi is one of the best governors we've ever had and then pity us and explain the benefits of 5000 naira notes. Will there be a very very limited number of notes in circulation that will make it more valuable? Can you guarantee the use of 5 naira coins? You accuse people of speaking based on their emotions but you've just done the same thing. Please present us with cold, hard financial facts and then maybe we'll start to listen because right now I'm hoping to God that there is an iota of sense in this new development
Anonymous 7:10; sanusi is one of the three best governors, whats ur criteria for rating him? They have analysed d effect of d introduction of 5000 notes, didnt they analyse d effect of 1000 notes, how did it turn out? Where was d board when they spent billions of naira printing polymer? So they are just gonna waste all those polymer and still waste more of our money in making coins dat no one will use? Where is d 1 & 2 naira coins they made? If they were profs as u said then a decision they sat down to evaluate b4 implementing shoudnt b changed in such a hurry. U are a banker, so wat? Should i run into d bush? I'm sure u r in one these community banks. I know ppl who read fishery and they r bankers so stuf ur hundred decades of banking in ur rum and keep quiet wen we are talking national issues. Mtchwww
ReplyDeleteThey should also add "Aba women" to the three.
ReplyDeleteand Why on 5000 anyways?
sincerely im not happy about this development. why on earth is the reason for changing notes to coins and introducing new notes (N5000). the N1000 notes we have is causing havoc already, yet they want to introduce N5000. what is these people's problem. infact, im so pissed. their plan will never work in JESUS NAME. AMEN.
ReplyDelete..they shud put dame patience der naaa ^_^
ReplyDelete..they shud put dame patience der naaa ^_^
ReplyDeletewaste of resources producing the notes, why cause so much hardship, so what was all the bravado about cash'less' policy? Anyway Nigeria still has what it takes to make it.Come 2015,a true leader for the people will emerge, a leader that will listen to the people's voice.
ReplyDeleteour problem here is GEJ. I hope he stops this Sanusi mallam this time, to save us from this prevailing calamity.
ReplyDeleteNigeria is being paddled by confused set of people.... Evn a one year old baby wud knw dat introducing 5k note is against a cashless economy and introducing 5,10 and 20 naira in coin is as shameful as tryna to bury the existence of such moneys. #shameless pipo them#
ReplyDeletethis is absolute foolishness for this economy, one day they will turn this country to zimbabwe where they have 100trillion zimbabwe dollar in a paper note, introducing 5000 is not the solution to nigeria, while introducing higher domination the smaller will be having problem. Foolish leader of nigeria you have forget the million dollars you use in printing the polymer, now u want to comderm it
ReplyDeleteWho are these women? What they did for africa?Any nigerian queen nzinga, kimpa vita,etc....?
ReplyDeleteHello Expensive things.....Hello inflation......
ReplyDelete@ anonymous 7.10, August 24 2012, pls I would really love it if you could share the benifit that will come with the 5k note, as if you point that the board of CBN are highly intelligent economist and etc, Sanusi Lamido and Ngozi Iweala are very intelligent and successful in their field of career, but the have show us that when it come to Nigeria, they don't know nada, Nigerian should just remember how our highly respected intelligent successful elite were going around canvassing for subsidy removal, that was a scam (January 01, 2012), Credibily (charater) is one the most important C for even getting a loan according to banker, pls do Mr Lamido have this important C to actually put forward this decision?
ReplyDeleteEhew, njas dey hav done it again,kk so dis is naw a new method 4 dem 2 start carryin our money 2 oda countries, smh 4 dem oo,linda if u like don't post my comment oo
ReplyDeleteLike Seriously! I thought this guy was smart... This is just increasing the rate of inflation more and more... Used to be proud that I'm a Nigerian but this one has gone too far. Is the cbn not meant to control inflation? God have mercy
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder what s really happening in dis country our leaders hu r faced wit so many challenges ranging 4rm insecurity corruption poor economy unemployment etc ll alwayz neglect dis issues nd gamble wit d masses dividends nd other things to be enjoyed by d masses I really feel so sad. But I want to say dis if dis leaders attitudes continue dis way dis country is heading for a DOOOOOOM
ReplyDeletei hate this country. in the end they will all die. i pray sanusi dies a very painful death. that disgrace of a man. because he wants to be emir of kano na to steal and steal and make the mass suffer. may he die a painful death
