Thousands move out of Plateau villages, as Fulani, STF reach pact

The things going on in some villages in Plateau State is not funny but the agreement reached between the Fulanis and the Special Task Force (STF) is kinda funny...or maybe it's not! It's kinda confusing sha.

We all heard about the invasion of some villages by Fulani Herdsmen two weekends back where hundreds were massacred. Now the STF want to carry out a military operation in these villages and fish out 'the terrorists'.

So on Saturday July 14th, STF ordered villagers in five villages to move out of the villages temporary to give way for the operation. The villagers agreed but on the condition that the operation won't last for more than two days and they would be allowed to return home afterwards. Also, that their homes and properties would be protected and no Fulani will be killed or arrested.

Many of these villagers have now left their homes and camped at different locations, mostly open fields. What I don't understand is; does the STF expect the murderers aka the Fulani herdsmen to sit in these villages and wait for them? Like I don't understand it. If you were a fulani herdsman and you heard the military is coming, would you wait to fight them or be captured? Can someone explain how the STF plan to make this work? Who will they find in these villages when they've already announced they are coming?

Meanwhile the Military authorities in Abuja have said the operation “to eradicate terrorists” taking shelter in those villages will start 'any moment from now' and would last for two weeks.

  4. Let's just hope it works. If that's the strategy they believe in, then let's wait and see the outcome. D killings is just too much, whatever can be done to eradicate this is a welcome idea no matter how weird it seems or looks like

  6. Linda, when you want to give a child an injection, you say you're taking him to see Father Christmas.

That's what the Army has decided to do here. This will be a permanent 'temporary relocation'. In my book, if you harbour a criminal then you are one too.

And since when Fulani cattle rearers dey get village for Jos? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

    Cue the controversial comments...

  11. Look.peeps should try to have some faith. They know what they are doing and must have gotten some information warranting such extreme tactics. For all u know they could set up satelites and cameras or bomb detection/sniffing apparatus in d deserted villages or carry out interogation in d camp where d villagers are not in their comfort zone.

Let's all wait and see.U never can tell.

  14. Its a pity...i doubt if they will ever return to their village. This is a ploy to let the fulanis settle in those villages, which is what they wanted this whole time.

    So so sad!

The idea is to chase the intruders back ,if necessary kill some and acquire lost land and mountain areas where they used as base to launch attacks.

  16. Somebody has announced it will rain, she people will take cover? Why announce ur strategy to the whole world? You think BH/Fulani / whoever will go back to the same area knowing its been staked out? Weeeeeell.......waiting and watcing*folding my arms*

  17. i think it would work because, those funali herdmen had been terrorising those villages for a long time now, and it would take some level of logistics to move out of their hide outs. this would unstable them and if i were in charge i will place my men at the other exits by now. keep a general overview of those mountain location from the front (village ends) back (behind the mountains) and sides, i such a way that its only one way out of those villages that will be legal to come out. like a containment.

  18. Wont be suprised if the "terrorists" moved with the villagers to the open camps in a brief recess.

wat do u expect from the Nigerian army clueless zombies. Shey the Fulani herdsman go just sitdown or better still carry placard or mark their face with the inscription NA WE KILL THE 200 PEOPLE common sense would have told them that the Fulanis will quickly migrate or quickly integrate with the people instead of them to go to maiduguri and bornu state to scatter boko haram dem dey go jos

  20. i laughed at this until i had a serious fit of cough. lols all d way maybe they should call special agebt OSO (disney jnr) to teach them how to solve crimes

  21. This is not funny! It's a dangerous move by the bastard government. The killings will only get worse..watch and see. You don't handle situations like this. Only in Nigeria! We are ruled by untrained animals. They have no idea what their jobs entail. They got into power through connection so don't expect their leadership to make sense. A bunch of thieves, dumbfucks, and bastards in office today.

  22. Its weird how people are just armchair critics...
Personally i would prefer ALL terrorists are wiped off the face of this earth and i think the Nigerian military is not living up to it's full potential because of inconsistent training strategies....BUT
Even the "so-called" best military in the world employs this same strategy when the lives of innocent civilians are in imminent danger.
Case in point: the assaults on Marjar and helmand province in IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN respectively.
I guess the key question should be if the target villages were enclosed in a "security cordon" which effectively allows the military to stop and search the villagers for weapons as they exit the area. Some of the terrorists might escape, but it's still possible to seize their light and heavy weapons. You just cannot go into an area like that and shoot and kill everybody you see walking,Because u stand the chance of murdering innocents together with the terrorists. And alienating the whole population thus setting the stage for more insurrection and civil disobedience. Thus i think this military strategy is probably the better of two evils...

  23. The military have their intelligence and they believe that those people suspected of last two weeks jos killings are still hiding somewhere in the mountains. So since the military have surrounded the villages, there is no way for them to escape. Go smoke them criminals wish u guys can video the whole operation and sell it as a war film. I will really love to watch.

  24. You guys should wait and see how it will eventually unfold. At least I see a good move in eradicating the Jos menace

  25. Iits simple....dat might be †̥ђξ announcement but d open field may be †̥ђξ target

  26. Its very simple smoke †̥ђξ rat out of its hole.....wen every1 leaves deir villages....†̥ђξ terrorist might want 2 attack dem in fields den wld b caught

  27. This is a sure plot to remove these Fulanis from the state. This is the most logical explanation for this action.God bless Nigeria!!!

  29. please let us pray for this strategy to work IJN even if it appears stupid. God can confound those that believe they are wise (the herdsmen) that have been killing innocent people. God please let this work.
