President Jonathan commissions bullet-proof vest factory in Kaduna

The president commissioned a bullet-proof vest production factory at the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) yesterday in Kaduna.

The factory will produce bullet-proof vests and other textile wares for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in the country.

  5. I know some cynics will soon come and start looking what to criticise. But before they do that I just want us to consider the following:
    1) The lives that will be saved because our security men are better kitted
    2) The direct and indirect jobs that will be created by this factory
    3) The huge foreign exchange that would have been wasted if we decided to import these materials rather than encourage local production.
A word is enough for the wise!

I find the need to ask some very pertinent and basic questions as well as offer some information.First of all , certain calibers are known as armour piercing and will go through level I and level II bullet proof. The .223 Cal Rifle Bullet is armour piercing up to Level III.Bullets come in all shapes and ballistic coeficients which determine their ability to penetrate Armour /Kevlar.Most Bullet proof is effective for 9mm,.380 cal,40 S&W cal soft point bullets. These bad guys use AK 47's and all they need to do is change the Firearm type, the Ballistic Coefficients and the "type" of bullet to get over this problem. The US Govt will not ordinarily allow the exportation of Level III/Kevlar Bullet proof manufacturing technology. At best this is Level I and/or Level II technology which will not withstand LG/SSG/00/000 12 Bore Double Barrel Shotgun Cartriges at close range. This is a .419 Deal.

  34. GOOD & BAD NEWS:
GOOD NEWS >>> ATLEAST WE GET TO MAKE OUR OWN ARMOUR/VESTS WITHOUT RESORTING TO IMPORT

  44. Nigeria is an infuriating country. They haven't started and there's all this attention. That's how they'll start and we'll hear the factory got raided or the workers will start selling them black market. Or maybe politicians will start collecting and add bullet-proof vest to allowance. Why the hell did they make this so public anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Pinkielepa..I agree with you..Misplaced priorities!!
How many times have we seen Presidents and Commanders-in-Chief of greater armies get dressed in army uniforms to parade themselves?

Only in a setting of retrogressive thinking will you get this sort of amateurish acts.
When I see these displays of ineptness, I weep for Nigeria.

Even if he was offered a military garb, couldn't he politely decline such an offer. This isn't the first time he is seen looking unsure of himself in an airforce, navy or army uniform.

There is a reason why in a democracy, a civilian president/prime minister/head of government is seen as a leader of the army without having to dress patethically in such pitiable uniforms.

Gracious grief, we have a long way to travel as a country. We need an awakening of our collective consciousness. We can't keep being tolerant of such gross mediocrity and expect to survive in a fast moving world!

I love my country, it is the clueless leaders I cannot stand!

    Hmmmmm!!!!!
