  14. I feel sorry for the dead cos that's one life cut short. But come to think of it LASTMA! Smh, those who drive in lagos will definitely understand what am trying to express here. If there's any word more than "their excesses" will be better. Running after a vehicle... you parked on the line... go behind the line... Why did you stop for him to pass? Obstruction of traffic...why are you making call (and my hand is just on my chin), etc etc. Most of them are absolutely insane! All these rubbish should be stopped! I just have one question for our Lagos state govt, why do we need all these colours on the streets of lagos? There's white (VIO) which I learnt are no longer there but not so sure, there's lastma, there's road safety, traffic wardens and the most pathetic ones-the ones in pink at sand-filled round about, they were all over VI before, they stopped before now they are back? Why do we need all these people just to control traffic? Can't the traffic wardens do the job? Road safety if their job is to checkmate road accidents how come we still have terrible cars on our roads? Put all these people under the police force or whatever group you want, let them be one and see how weel they will do. You don't scare us buy introducing colours to our streets daily.

  17. Died for his country keh?isn't it the hieght of foolishness to chase after a moving vehicle?if it was that he was chasing it to save a person's life,we can say it was justified and den we'll tag him a hero.
Abeg,i don't think Fashola told anybody to run after a moving vehicle. The rule applies everywhere in the world-SAFETY FIRST
Tommorrow now, they will run after a moving train.

  20. This goes to show the level of poverty in the nation because of bribe that wouldn't go a long way he lost his life just the other day 100 hundreds of people were burnt to alive becos they wre trying to steal petrol from a tanker. When will nigerians learn because of 5000 naira some people will risk their lives. We need experts to teach Nigerians most especially the grassroots safety rules and regulations.

  21. A life is worth more than money

Lagos State needs to ensure safety of it's LASTMA officials. They need to remind these pple that while their service is important, their safety is more important.

  28. The abscence of proper record keeping ending in a needless loss of life. All he would have had to do was take down the number of the vehicle and get details of the owner if only we had good records...but who chases after a moving car on foot?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Isn't there another way to handle this traffic issue in Lagos than having these officers? This one was probably doing his work properly but got run over in the process. I can't imagine taking up a job like this. It's bad enough for people in their cars driving let alone me walking on those roads, with the mad traffic, trying to chase cars...like this one. Na wa o!

  32. LSG/LASTMA officials really need to be more FRSC, in their conducts I mean. Who dares physically assaults a FRSC official?

I read in PUNCH a while back abt a LASTMA official struggling with a bus conductor and eventually killed the conductor. Rather sad.

His family will be in so much pain by now. RIP

  33. Oh no! This is sad,may he RIP... I wonder why the government haven't thought of putting up traffic camera's so they can capture and fine traffic offenders, instead of Lastma official chasing after them like this and putting themselves in so much danger.

  34. lool ... but rip doe .. he was probly thinking like god of the road.

  35. Very sad indeed! May his soul rest in perfect peace! It is really sad seeing young people die, especially on duty. God deliver us and please let's exercise more caution on the roads; drivers, pedestrians and law enforcement.

  43. Dis is sad. Just last week I saw a lastma official @ agege hanging on to a moving trailer. Am sure he wanted to collect money frm d driver and dat one speed off , so he felt hanging on will make d driver stop. Dat one just kept driving on..shaming d lastma official + it was also dangerous. Some of dem feel dat dia uniform is made of iron or somethin kos the way the stand infront of moving cars is disturbing. Anyways RIP
