Tanker fire burns 24 vehicles on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway

 Scene of the accident yesterday

The sad event happened around 2am yesterday Saturday June 2nd on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. A tanker carrying fuel fell, caught fire, and at least 24 vehicles around it got burnt.

Fortunately no one died (according to the FRSC). The accident left thousands of passengers stranded on the road for over 7 hours.

  3. Wait! Another one???!!! I heard same thing happened to 8 tankers on Thursday on the same road. Overturned trailer on the new lekki expwy too on Saturday! God help us!

  8. When will all these stop. This is all as a result of the state of our roads. Now we should be talking of carrying of goods on railways. I dey pity this country. We still have a long way to go.

  9. Ok, now this issue of trailer/tanker accidents has become a daily occurrence in Nigeria and it seems we are getting used to it like we've gotten used to all the nonsense in our Nation. Innocent commuters die on our roads every day because we live in a lawless jungle, where anyone can get away with anything. It requires special skills and knowledge to drive a tanker. In civilized countries, you need a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) to operate heavy vehicles. However,in Nigeria, any idiot without experience can jump into the cab of a tanker and kill innocent people.
    The Nigerian govt needs to do more to remove unsafe and unqualified drivers from our roads
    THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!
