Linda Ikeji @ JCI's Individual Development Seminar

I didn't realize how big of a deal this seminar was until I got there. The Individual Development Seminar organised by Junior Chamber International, Ikeja, in partnership with Lagos Business School held on Saturday June 9th. The aim of the seminar was to teach leadership and management skills. It's an annual event and I was picked to speak at this year's seminar. So honored! The other speakers were Larry Etah, Group Managing Director, UAC, and Opeyemi Agbaje, Managing Director Resources & Trust Company Limited.

JCI made me an honorary member of their organization and I was also given a recognition plaque.

You know, there are a few disadvantages of being a blogger, but the advantages far surpass the disadvantages..:-). I feel blessed and I'm grateful for this opportunity. I've been billed for a few speaking gigs in the coming months, will let y'all know when in case any of you want to come. Continue to see more photos...

  23. Linda, I like you but why would you wear such a piece of clothing to an event like that. You were supposed to have come off as a business minded young lady but you made yourself look like a hungry "runs" girl. I'm not trying to diss you but please learn to dress appropriately okay. I'm pretty sure suits, pants and shirts have not finished in Nigerian boutiques or wherever you shop. Jisike my sister and keeping making your money.

One does not need to wear a coat and tie to every event for goodness sake. If you want to make it look more 'big girlz' you can add a tailored suit jacket to the jumpsuit, maybe a teal suit jacket to add color, and voila still gorgeous. But still you are gorgeous in this.
Seriously I heard in 9ja a 9-5 in the office one must wear skirt, jacket, and shirt, or pant, jacket, and skirt. But why??

For your info, Kate of England, yes, the one married into royal family repeats her dresses, she just uses different accessories. Na una type go dey buy diff clothes all the time if u become 1st lady, rubbish!!

  74. aside from showing a bit of cleavage, i see nothing wrong with d outfit. well done

    ReplyDelete
  75. I ordinarily see nothin wrong with linda's dressing. She is a blogger which is not a 'corporate' profession. Dont u see steve jobs in his turtle neck and jeans?& zukerberg in his grey t-shirt& jeans...they r tech guys& u cant catch them dead in a suit either in a biz meeting or a lecture. It would actually b odd for linda to turn out in skirt suit simply cos she is delivering a lecture. Some of u just got one track minds! D only thing wrong with d jump suit is the cleavage exposure..not appropriate for the occasion& mixed audience.

    ReplyDelete

You could always take off the blazer once you leave. Anyways, I'm sure u'r only gonna get better from here.

  102. Good for you - getting your business side on. Go girl!! As for commentators, 9ja's are the only group of people I know who can find fault even with Mother Theresa. You cannot please all of the people all of the time my dear.

  103. Funny as Evry1 bad mouths her..she makes money from Every SINGLE Comment posted on here..keep insulting Her while her stacks keep increasing..Yes she may not hav a good fashion sense, but just congratulate her achievement and support her by typing things such as "congrats Gurl"..or "wow dis is nice"..atlist she still makes her money from every Click and Comment..Sooo Linda I have added to ur pocket with this comment also... and U r Welcome..

    ReplyDelete
  104. Why is it that most comment on Linda and the JCI's seminar was on her dress? By now u guys/ladies shd know that Linda has her style and to me her dress or dress sense is less important to me but how she makes her millions. I expected people to tell her to post the lecture she delivered on her blog instead of the irrelevant comments. Moreover, she has a lot of boutiques/beauty houses that advertises on her blog and she has the money to afford the dresses but that is not her priority for now. Her priority is to serve humanity.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Let's be sincere, the outfit was not appropriate. Yes, pants and a shirt, even the pantsuit with a jacket, good. Too much cleavage and as a role model, you do not want to send the wrong impression that exposing your cleavage etc gets you places. I know some might argue that some do get up to boardroom levels, but honestly, it was not a good choice in a corporate/business setting. It wasn't a talk about nigeria's next top model. Better luck next time you get an invite to talk. You wouldn't go to a wimbiz function like that, would you?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dis dress issue is really getting to me o...why can't pple just keep their loud mouth shut!!
We always have seminars in my uni (here in d UK) and none of d presenters were EVER CORPORATE!
@ least Linda was comfortable in her outfit:- which is what really matters.

Carry go jare Linda...and let d haters go n hug transformer

    ReplyDelete
  107. all those bothered about linda's dressing didnt see that the gathering wasnt a formal setting. And nobody has bothered to find out her delivery. but i must tell you, her presence was highly appreciated from all around. Nobody looked at her dressing but the content of her speech.Linda good job
