DeleteThey normally do that if the person is behaving or showing signs of remorse. Besides, prisons in the UK are full so obviously they won't keep people for as long as they said in order to keep space for other criminals. Also, she looks a but old for a mistress. In UK u serve half of ur prison sentence once it's over six months. U can't bribe ur way through.

ReplyDeleteYup...,you spend half of your sentence if you have been on good behaviour. Ibori however has a previous conviction so that would be considered for his prison term.

ReplyDeleteUK no dey do parole system...but u can serve half ur sentence if u've been on good behaviour in the prison..i.e avoiding fights and obeying the rules.
Same applies in the US. except for sentences with a Life term and no parole. Then u go die for prison.

There are so many Naija big boys and gals that were released from prisons in the West. I see many of them in pics on this blog and I laugh. My prayer though is that they truly are repentant, and are not carrying on with that same behavior and lifestyle in Naija.

ReplyDelete- you can get time off for good behavior
- you can serve multiple sentences CONCURRENTLY
- some states/countries include time spent in jail before sentencing, i.e. Casey Anthony in Florida. Essentially she served 12days for a one year sentence.
