Breaking news: FG withdraws operating license of Dana Airlines
The Federal Government this afternoon withdrew the operating license of Dana Airlines following the crash that left over 160 dead two days ago. Good one, FG! Now, let them start making some arrests. You don't play with people's lives!
Linda there are rumours going round that the Dana aircraft couldn't land because the airspace was shut off to allow the first lady to land in Lagos. Please confirm.
Linda it wasn't even the fault of dana although they are extremely dangerous. The crash would have been avoided if the first lady didn't hold them stranded. But I guess this was a way to expose dana airlines and their faulty planes, however the fact still stands that it was dame patience's fault ! #gbam
there is a rumour circulating that a compensation of $100,000 (#16 mil) wld be paid to each family. if this is true, why didn't the buy a new plane if dey cld pay such compensation. my cousin philip chukwuebuka was involved, may his young soul RIP.
Linda hav u hrd dat d crash might hav been averted if d plane hadn't bin delayed frm landing by presidential protocol. Madam first lady was attending a baby shower at oriental hotel in lagos dat day and d airspcae was blocked for 2 hours so d presidential jet cud land. D news was on "kilonsparkles blog"
Nigerians, stand up n stop lettin ds pepul deceive us. Ds pepul dnt care bout us, d action ws taken cos of d caliber of pepul dt were involved in d crash. Dos tears on jona ws robb induced. Ow many tyms does he visit accident scene where tanker xploded n killed 100, am so angry
Choi, what happens to our money? We dat have paid to book online before this one happened? I thnk its a good move though n it shldnt be limited to Dana alone.FG shldnt spare resources to verify worthiness of other airlines. Better late than sori
Linda, withdrawal of their operating license means nothing to dem cos these Indians are dubious and as wise as serpents...they'll probably give d airline a new name, do all d necessary fake registrations and bribingsss and booooooom....we have a new airline in Naija!!! May God help us...
A Step in the right direction but they should check other operators too we should not just focus on Dana o we need a total overhaul to avert another disaster please...
Good..but this must be followed up with criminal charges. The souls of the departed must not be in vain..and lessons learned from this accident must be not be obliterated.
Dana management, NCAA officials and associated operators in the commercial aviation industry must be charged with criminal negligence and obtuse complicity.
Nigeria and Nigerians must stand up (for their basic rights) or stand down from the face of the earth!
Ok, I guess this is a 'good' move... BUT why is it always medicine after death in Nigeria??? Innocent people have lost their lives because someone looked the other way...
This same license was withdrew sometime ago, how do they goy it back? Some people will just come to Nigeria in the name of Business and start killing and messing up our country, thing they would not try in their own or other countries. Nigeria especially our leaders should please wake up.
O boy see as I dey dodge bullet! Methinks u shud enlist with the US army make them send u go scatter taliban with all these ya missles! Damn bro, u can like to spell check b4 u kill us here!
funny how most pple talk so much junk when they really dont know much about the inner workings of an airline. alot goes into gettin a plane up in the air.the plane going down might not be a function of neglect. No pilot in his right mind would fly a faulty plane. Do you know how much authority a pilot has over his airplane? if he says hes not flying thts it. no management can make him it then stands to reason that the plane was certified green(ok) before he took off. remember that flight was probably not the only flight the plane operated that day. It had probably done the lagos abuja thing almost 4 times that day. and i can tell you it was probably the same pilot. Bottom-line is no point laying blame, at least not right now. Even your newly serviced car can develop brake failure. Does it mean you r stupid or have no regard for your life by driving it. so your mechanic tells you i have fixed your brakes do you then look inside the engine to see if the brakes really been fixed? I just wish pple would take a chill pill and see how it all plays out Agreed Naijas maintenance culture sucks but seriously lets take a deep breath and get a full picture of what happened. #Darrisall
Not just arrests. This is a positive step but it took the lives of 150 pple to make this step. Moving forward now, let them start investigating other aircraft. All the attention shouldnt just be on Dana. If we want to avoid this sort of unfortunate incident, the appropriate regulatory agency needs to start putting strcit measures to operate an aircraft in our nation......May the souls of the departed continue to rest in peace......
Mschewwwwwwwwwww.As if that will do anything,we need laws that must be followed in this country. The Aviation industry needs someone like Lamido Sanusi to shake it and put the necessary rules and regulations in place that stupid aviation minister does not know jack.Aw can an airline be given operating license with just 5 old planes to operate anyway? I weep fo my country oooooo
Linda, you are a fantastic blogger. I can see you published the manifest contemporaneously. But, behind those names are life stories some great, some Inspirational. I know you are obsessed with nollywood just like I am, It will be great to dedicate this week in finding and publishing some of those life stories behind the long list of Dana manifest. A tribute accompanied with lovely pictures not burning bodies will be great! They need to be remembered in a positive sort of way not of the gory details published all over
If it is the right thing, I can tell u authoritatively that EVERY airliner should have their licences withdrawn!!!
The ministry of Aviation knows why this happened! They do not do their jobs. Air crafts are not investigated before OK-TO-FLY. The withdraw licence to show they are working meanwhile Stella the minister keeps her job after shedding a few tears on TV.
The NCAA official who OKed the aircraft from Uyo yo ABJ to LOS keeps his job, other airlines are still OKed by the same 'killers' to carry Nigerians? The management of Dana and engineers are left and we all seat down and praise Jungle Justice??
Over 150 Nigerians dead and Stella is still the minister???
Drive all the bollywood indians from Nigeria. They think we have populations like them, and want to waste lives. We, Nigerians have our own challenges, but we are not corrupt and in human like these TWATS
Hope they have also arrested the Managers of the airline responsible for the painful death of this innocent souls, due to thier greed to make profit. They should be sentenced to life imprisonment. Gbam!!
Yes o! Okwa SHARP SHARP ARRESTS! And let it be broadcast: the entire court process, the sentencing and the final walk of shame to prison of the management of Dana Air!
Be slow to anger,be swift in talking, judge not.! Lets allow for investigation to be completed especially with all the data box fully recovered. I fly a lot and that's worldwide with all humility, most aircrafts worldover has an issue or the other. A non functional toilet in a plane is equally bad and dangerous. May the souls of our loved ones departed rest in peace. Those of us still alive have this second chance to put our ways and actions right before man and God Almighty.JIL!
Thunder fire your left nyash there! Idiot! I don't blame you. Its becos you didn't lose a family member that's why you have the guts to vomit such nonsense as 'let's be slow to anger'. BLOODY FOOL
Let Stella Oduah and Harold Demuren also step aside. The aviation industry needs a total overhaul! And pls they should investigate Air Nigeria,Aero Contractors and d rest while they are at it!
Kudos 4 the update @Linds..Now we talking..this thing pain me no be small..the victims and victims past shall not die in vain..pls lets make sure we get our voices heard..if we profess to live in democratic societies at home and abroad..we must exercise those rights..!!
and they had better start probing AIR NIGERIA, whether the ex-finance director is negative towards Mr jimoh ibrahim or not....this shouldn't and mustn't happen again. by the special grace of God, if only human beings adhere to safety measures.
It's a good thing to do FG but this should have been done long before now if the right checks where been carried out by the aviation team. There's nothing that can be done that would restore the lives of the departed. However, I kindly request that you don't stop with Dana Air. Check the other airlines. Remember 2005, if this check was done with all airlines what happened with Belview in October wouldn't have repeated itself with Sosoliso in December. Please do a good and complete work and do it fast. Thank you kindly
Safety Standards demands that before a plane is allowed to fly, it must be certified fit to fly by regulatory bodies. NCAA is one of such here in Nigeria. So withdrawing the license of Dana Air is good, but the government have to do better by probing NCAA for certifying a plane that had been giving mechanical warnings(developing faults) in May, 2012, fit to fly. So those heads in NCAA and FAAN, that have been collecting bribe and allowing these buckets of death to fly, should roll. These 153 innocent persons must not die in vain. There must be a revolution and a payback to all who has joined Dana Air management in perpetrating this evil. (Everyday na for the theif, one day na for the owner). The time has come for them all to pay back. I repeat, these people must not die in vain.
So happy about this news thou i knew it was coming ...This will serve as a lesson to other Airlines as they will begin to respect human life. Way to go GEJ AND HIS CREW!
is it only Dana air? What about the other airlines? from what we read they all should be banned from flying anybody until all the safety regulations for airline operation has been observed.
Good to withdrawn their license but this can not wake those that have gone. The minister for aviation should also be charge to court. As her job there must be a routine check of all our planes to know their status. May God forgive those that have gone.
That's so great,FG needs to flush this indians away from our country, they are just after theirselves, they aint care bout human lives,m currently doing my IT in one of their companies and i know the length they can go just to make money...our leaders need to act before disasters strike and not after,i appr8 what they've done sha...nd kudos to u linda, uve been keeping us well informed.

Is that all the FG can do?let the India man be arrested.withdrawal of DANA licence dosent mean anything cause by next year they will change name and continue 2 fly
Good,i hope this doesnt go the way things in our dear country usually goes, that is really the word Linda you dnt joke with people's lives esp wen they are paying their hard earned money.Linda wetin i do u nah?post my comments
Let this serve as a lesson to other airlines so dat they'll know u don't joke wit pple's lives cos of selfishness and greed.they should go back to their country abeg. All those Indians are greedy thhieves, they're wicked too. They have no human feelings whatsoever. Good riddance of bad rubbish
good move in the right direction, declaring total of the aviation industry should be next overhauling and reviewing all existing licence not forgeting pegging the age of aircraft that could be brought into the country for whatever purpose.
Missing after death!!! Fools!!! Withdrawing operating lincense will not wake the dead up!! The most important thing is carrying our regular checks to ensure that planes are fit to fly! That is what these bastards do all the time!!!! you withraw lincenses after the deed has been done!!! What about ensuring there are standard checks!! I weep for my country !!!! I am really upset and irritated! I personally do not known anyone on that flight but i feel the pain of those mourning their family and loved ones. This is absolutely unfair! The management of DANA air should be sued for mass murder and negligence !! becasuse that plane gave signs but they ignored the signs.I am utterly devastated!! May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace!!!!!
Shebi dem know say d airline get fault na em d Indian owners order dem make dem fly am. Oya na, if na dier land, dem no go accept am ooo...instead dem go stop our airline say ''u have not met d necessary requirements to fly in our country':... Plz 'ARREST MOOD ACTIVATED'
Good job FG! That's not the end but its a good beginning! Now, let's get to some serious investigation...and compensation for the families left behind without their loved ones.
You know what's funny? It's when people applaud dictatorial moves like this because it happens to appeal to your current anger. How does withdrawing the operating license of the airline solve the systemic problem in our aviation industry? You think because they yanked Dana Airlines' license, other airlines will shape up? If they really want to save lives, order a mandatory mechanical review of all domestic fleet.
Which License are you withdrawing? They have already beaten the Government to it when they announced since yesterday that they are suspending their operations in honour of the victims. People in government should decide what they want to do. If they want to be behaving like businessmen, they should let us know
Is there any way of getting confirmation about the news I just got?that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for - the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Good luck Jonathan. Private jet owners who had to hover in the air same time leaked this. This was apparently the reason local news didn't report the crash for so long till CNN and foreign news stations started reporting it.Local news was “blacked out” trying to kill the story of the airspace being closed while a distressed plane couldn't land. It would be shocking if so.Though there was engine failure there was still time for the plane to have landed apparently. You do know anyway that the airspace is closed for up to 2hours each time the Presidential Jet needs to go into the air 2hours for any 15 minutes take off or landing! And this jet is used by President,VP, President's wife and if I recall David Mark. It's almost a daily occurrence accodind 2 a dana staff..
wat will withdrawing their license do. I work with an airline, (although it's international one)and trust me, no airline will ever want a crash bcos one single crash can ruin an airline. pls lets focus on why the hell the airspace was closed for 2 good hrs, bcos of a single person. ve seen it happen lots of times, and it's just not right.planes ve to hover in d air bcos of unplanned visits. although the airlines ve a part but the system does not help at all
Its about time, my govt is working... Lol. I give kudos to Jonathan, atleast now we know he's not that lily livered like a lot of people think he is. Bye bye to Dana Air. Meanwhile, what happens to Aquadana? Make them no use vex poison people through that one oooo. Blood sucking, greedy indians. Linda post my comment ooo!!
Good one, it shouldn't end there, let the FG arrrest the management and owners of the airline,we have lost precious lives including children who could have been leaders tomorrow. The management of Dana airline are heartless, flying a faulty and outdated plane.God will judge them
not only to withdraw. Federal government should burn the license and that of Jimoh Ibrahim's Air Nigeria and all others who are culpable in rendering shoddy services to Nigerians. Federal government should bring back Richard Brandson's Virgin Airline. The guy was good. They used bad belle to send the guy away cos he wasnt playing ball. See how many people's blood had to be shed for their ineffectiveness. This is so so incomprehensible.
That should have been done 24hrs after the crash. Now the FG ought to fly in aviation experts from the UK and the USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts.
Arrest Who??? all these for show actions. There must first be investigations to determine the cause of the accident. Linda, If you have to disseminate information, you must also learn to be objective. What if it is found out that the plane didn't have enough fuel to get back to Lagos? What if it was Pilot error? Check the statistics, over 50% of air crashes are due to pilot error. Lets not rush to judgement. Lets us learn to wait for the outcome of the investigations. The NTSB is involved because its a US made plane so nothing will be swept under the rug.
That should have been sone 24hrs ago. Now the FG should fly in aviation experts from UK and USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts in Nigeria.
Good not Dana airlines only the same should apply to every other Airlines in nigeria. enough is enough . they should stop playing with pples lives cos they can't make one.. thank linder
That should have been sone 24hrs ago. Now the FG should fly in aviation experts from UK and USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts in Nigeria.
Air travel is still the safest means of transportation. You are more likely to die in a domestic accident than in a plane crash. How many times do we scream for the head of the Minister of Works or the operators of Road transport companies when there is a ghastly motor accident? How many Children are rendered fatherless or motherless due to the negligence of the transport companies? We need a total system overhaul. And can the media also shine the spotlight on Road accidents like you do when a plane crashes. Abi those people are not human beings? Can there be a law that institutes heavy compensation for victims of road accident?? Our people are killing our people and all we want to do is rush to act like we care. #justsaying
The names on that list is fake!!! Many people are yet to recover the bodies of their loved ones! Please linda confirm what you are putting up before you do so. This is unfair cos peoples emotions are being messed with!
I'ld like to say kudos to Mr. President for this move. However, I read this news and cringe with fear for the thought that the owner of this airlines will again find loophole in our laws to revoke this decision in the court of law. The skeptic side of me screams... there is no limit to devious scheming of greedy men. Consequently, I believe there is still need for a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and offenders be adequately punished. I for one wouldn't mind a charge of mass murder or treason for those found guilty. I wouldn't mind if there punishment is death by hanging or firing squad. Anyone who will value percunariy rewards above their fellow human's life should be treated as a common criminal, irrespective of their wealth or status. P.S: my condolences goes to the family of those who's loved ones died in this tragic accident
Read: "On hearing about the plane crash, I decided to board a cross country bus back 2lagos,after all passengers were boarded, a customer asked the driver to put on the ac,the drivers' response was "its not working",everyone on board took it as fate including I, saying to myself " just get me to lagos ac or not" but the dissatisfied customer did not however stop,he called the customer care number on his ticket,& insisted that the reason he travels cross country is because of their services, and asked why this was changing,to my greatest surprise, the bus was changed and an air conditioned bus was provided, that's when it struck me. shame on the person that sent a broadcast saying he had flown in the said aircraft before, and witnessed the problems. why did he not send out a broadcast then and perhaps his complains might have reached the aviation minister, shame on the engineers that are just telling us now that the plane was 22yrs old and should have never hit airspace, shame on everyone sending silly broadcast msgs saying ur picture or mine would never be used as a dp with Rip next to it, cos that's all we are content with, once we, our family and our friends are safe we keep on striving powerlessly in this country that have shattered our dreams & hopes,I don't plan to live 4ever & I consider it a privilege to be on a lot of peoples DP when my time comes, it would simply mean I stood for something, Worse of all shame on all those who signed a condolence broadcast just to be associated with the stars who signed before them, I really don't understand how that would change anything, its not the country or our leaders that is the problem, it is us, we are killing ourselves,if we do not reject this our submissive way of living we would continue to die in our thousands,I am not pointing fingers at anyone, we are all guilty, I am just saying it is time we stand up and make a change or we'll keep dying.
@ Anonymous 4.59pm; you bared my thoughts in writing and I can only imagine how many more feel the way we do. Life expectancy in Naija is probably in the 60's, this tells me that there are more young folks in Naija, we need to figure a way to get the message out. Voting is the only way we can get this criminals to surrender. We need to wipe them out of office and start afresh. 2015 is not too far. I am not in Naija but I will do my own part, and if we all can form an unselfish movement that only seeks to drive the votes we just may succeed.deekay gburu gburu
I have been saying this . When I complain they say I complain too much it's this attitude that keeps Nigeria stagnant. People don't fight for what thy deserve in Nigeria they just make do with shit. No light we are used to it, bad roads we are used to it. E. t.c only yesterday as I muttered to mysel over something someone sai you complain too much. Highly irritating but the truth is not enough of us have that spirit to want better.
A good step in the right direction.. More importantly the aviation sector should be overhauled. They need to set standards which must not be compromised. By now I expect that some people should have resigned or betters till sacked
Is it true that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan. It’s almost a daily occurrence I’ve been told by airline staff when it caught me out on a trip The truth remains that the President’s wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant’s child at the Oriental hotel.. Lekki. Anyone living on the Lekki axis saw first hand the horrendous traffic caused by the president’s wife’s visit..and confirmed reports from airport staff who volunteered information, collaborated this fact, that the Lagos airport was actually shut for 2 hours, about the same time the ill fated Dana Plane crashed. This also strongly explains the reason why Aero contractor airplane could not depart Abuja for Lagos at 3:40pm because of the closure of the Lagos airport. This is criminal and one can only imagine the deep sorrow ad-in-finitum (without limit) that the families of these unfortunate Nigerians and other nationals are currently plagued into. Grief that is so thick in the air, that one can cut through with a knife…rooted soul searching. Yes we have to and yes we can; beginning from our immediate homes and While we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, we need as a nation to thoroughly do some deep ommunities.. with time this will snowball into our National consciousness. For how long are we going to sacrifice the lives of our dear brothers and sisters and by extension mortgage the future of their/our children, just for the comfort of our leaders? For a 15 minutes ritual of plane take-off, an airport was shut for 2 hours because our “DEAR FIRST LADY” was scheduled to return to Abuja.. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!” NIgerians need to know what happened?who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday
Their spokes person just succeeded in pissing the shit outta me. It's just sad that they could make bold to say the aircraft was air worthy. Despite what the Greman who sold the plane to them said.
Gud one !!! My sugestion is as folos!! DAnar shuld b sued 4 gross negligence n misconduct, al so all d indian workas shul b areSted!!! Den d law govnin d aviation industry b revisited n amended!!!! Zina GH
How about making sure that planes older than 5yrs do not fly our airspaces? I mean if developed countries are using planes 10yrs and older does not mean we should copy them. They have effective emergency rescue systems, we don't. So in the absence of emergency systems in Nigeria, why don't we just fly new planes? Or is this impossible to achieve?
IK Okoye was a very good friend, he was too nice, easy going and handsome to die. Those indians should be hanged for what they did to IK's wife, kids, mum and dad especially the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping.
@ anonymonous june 5 (4:59pm), dont u just understand dat wen stories are too long, ppl get bored and scroll away as fast as possible and dey end up not gettin d messg u want to pass across. Y do u av to write an epistle? Pls alwz try as much as possible to be concise and brief. Aye o po
Babe u get a big wet kiss from me. Dat shit probably makes sense but who d fuck wants 2 read soming so bloody long. Keep it short ma mate!! Billie jean
Life is short and everybody's time will come. The occurence serves as a lesson to us all to live dedicated lives to our God. Our system reeks of corruption in EVERY sector! Since we wait for the English courts to grant us justice by bringind those complicit to book we might as well run to them once again because in the end the episode will be swept under the carpet just like others before it. We say a requiem for their souls while we wait for the cliche "THE PERPETRATORS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO BOOK" from our bleeders....oh sorry I meant to say leaders!???
mscheew..na 2dai biko on 2 d next 1, its so dat dey can buy the company amongst themselves, rename nd begin operation with this same deficient crafts....pls we aint buyin dis s**t this tym around
This doesn't change much. People are still missing the point, yes the sector is in decay but withdrawing the operating license of Dana (who presumably was the best airline out of all the local airlines) doesnt bring back the dead nor solve the decay in the system where by people are more bother about the security of their jobs than the security of their lives. The fact is this, after that plane crash landed, it dint burst into flame for 20 mins, NO RESCUE PARTY!!! what is the FG doing about that. Yet their were crowds around the plane, most of them helpless shouting eyahhh, yepa and all sorts. Is the FG going to looking to creating an effective crisis management team? Yes you can say they are taking the step and they have done the right thing but this is just a pinch of salt compared to the more which is yet to be done. It is done! All the sectors in that country are in arrant decay and its just pretty sad.
Did Presidential Jet Conveying Mrs Goodluck Prevent Faulty Dana Plane From Landing Before Crash? I just received this -
"Is there any way of getting confirmation about news I'm just getting that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

NIgerians need to know what happened?who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday june 3,2012????
What a country! All of a sudden everybody's talking about airlines and old aircraft. How about the numerous old and dangerous tankers and lorries that ply our roads everyday oftentimes destroying lives and properth and causing
it shouldnt stop there; what about an immeidate comprehensive investigation into the technical status of the planes of other airlines, their staffing and management crew and level of conformity so far. Followed by immediate withdrawal of license for whoever fails the test to also send a resounding warning to d remaining ones
This means nothing to me. There had better be more coming. I thought that after Sosoliso stopped flying, it signified a change. Nothing happened and the lives of over 60 children among others were snuffed out with only the removal of a minister to show for it. I don't know how many people even commemorate that day. I vaguely recall that there was a protest by mothers in Lagos and the police threw teargas at them. Withdraw, suspend, sack till tomorrow. Until we have answers and we see measures being taken to fix our aviation industry, they have done nothing.
,,,Pscheeeeew! now that the truth is coming out (holding up the airspace for Dame), they deceive us and make us feel good by quickly withdrawing Dana's licence without any investigation..Is that the issue..Y hold up d airspace, must you ritualize us all to remain in office...You will surely pay for this if it is true, GOD is watching.
what indians and chinese are doing in this country ehh only God would save us because the ways dem dey cut corner for everything ehh linda nah wa ohhh puting peopls lifes at risk because dem wan make profit
hmm why is FG delaying the sack of stella who can't even read? Instead of dana air she said diana air, and instead of survivor she said surviver??? Na wa for this water goddess oo, she and that her stupid egoccentric brother called joe idiots
Linda there are rumours going round that the Dana aircraft couldn't land because the airspace was shut off to allow the first lady to land in Lagos. Please confirm.

A Step in the right direction but they should check other operators too we should not just focus on Dana o we need a total overhaul to avert another disaster please...
ReplyDeleteThe best news I've heard today!!!
ReplyDeleteigba yi laro!
ReplyDeleteGood..but this must be followed up with criminal charges. The souls of the departed must not be in vain..and lessons learned from this accident must be not be obliterated.
ReplyDeleteDana management, NCAA officials and associated operators in the commercial aviation industry must be charged with criminal negligence and obtuse complicity.
Nigeria and Nigerians must stand up (for their basic rights) or stand down from the face of the earth!
igbayi laro! After many lives have gone for their carelessness
ReplyDeleteOk, I guess this is a 'good' move... BUT why is it always medicine after death in Nigeria??? Innocent people have lost their lives because someone looked the other way...
ReplyDeleteperfecto!!now start the arrests..those indian idiots shld pay d price>>its nt like life is bot in d market..we will never ever see those ppl again>>
ReplyDeleteFantastic news, now please heads must roll and the executives at Dana must be sent to jail on manslaughter charges.
ReplyDeleteNice start!
ReplyDeleteFinally!! Action is being takin..God is our strength!!
ReplyDeletewoow
ReplyDeletekudos to Federal Government, this is the best decision they have taken in a very long time.
ReplyDeletei agree..
DeleteThis same license was withdrew sometime ago, how do they goy it back? Some people will just come to Nigeria in the name of Business and start killing and messing up our country, thing they would not try in their own or other countries. Nigeria especially our leaders should please wake up.
ReplyDeleteO boy see as I dey dodge bullet! Methinks u shud enlist with the US army make them send u go scatter taliban with all these ya missles! Damn bro, u can like to spell check b4 u kill us here!
Deletefunny how most pple talk so much junk when they really dont know much about the inner workings of an airline.
ReplyDeletealot goes into gettin a plane up in the air.the plane going down might not be a function of neglect.
No pilot in his right mind would fly a faulty plane.
Do you know how much authority a pilot has over his airplane? if he says hes not flying thts it. no management can make him
it then stands to reason that the plane was certified green(ok) before he took off.
remember that flight was probably not the only flight the plane operated that day.
I just wish pple would take a chill pill and see how it all plays out
Agreed Naijas maintenance culture sucks but seriously lets take a deep breath and get a full picture of what happened. #Darrisall
On point! I totaly agree with u.u v spoken wit. Gr8 wisdom! Let's not shout crucify him!bc dey r indians. Dnt kil dem b4 dey r pronouncd guilty
DeleteYayyy! Now sack letters for some ministers should follow ASAP!
ReplyDeleteNot just arrests.
ReplyDeleteNot good enough, shut down Dana motors, Aquadana and arrest and jail the bloody indians. Bastards
ReplyDeleteMschewwwwwwwwwww.As if that will do anything,we need laws that must be followed in this country. The Aviation industry needs someone like Lamido Sanusi to shake it and put the necessary rules and regulations in place that stupid aviation minister does not know jack.Aw can an airline be given operating license with just 5 old planes to operate anyway? I weep fo my country oooooo
ReplyDeleteGehn ghen!!!!
ReplyDeleteLinda, you are a fantastic blogger. They need to be remembered in a positive sort of way not of the gory details published all over
ReplyDeletejust saw this in a blog :
ReplyDeletea must read pple

Good one? withdraw licence before investigations?
ReplyDeleteIf it is the right thing, I can tell u authoritatively that EVERY airliner should have their licences withdrawn!!!
We are NOT ready in Nigeria!
Drive all the bollywood indians from Nigeria. They think we have populations like them, and want to waste lives. We, Nigerians have our own challenges, but we are not corrupt and in human like these TWATS
ReplyDeletedrive these twats away from Nigeria.
ReplyDeletefinally some much needed action in Nigeria, for dis i am most grateful
ReplyDeleteI dint expect less.... They should pack and go to their country we dnt dis type of globalisation biko!
ReplyDeleteLet's give Nollywood and all it's glamour a break this week, and celebrate our lost citizens. Thank you
ReplyDeletei like this.....
ReplyDeleteHope they have also arrested the Managers of the airline responsible for the painful death of this innocent souls, due to thier greed to make profit. They should be sentenced to life imprisonment. Gbam!!
ReplyDeleteYes o! Okwa SHARP SHARP ARRESTS! And let it be broadcast: the entire court process, the sentencing and the final walk of shame to prison of the management of Dana Air!
ReplyDeleteLet diz b a lesson 2 oda airlines who dnt jst care about ppls life...GEJ u try smal 4 diz 1
ReplyDeleteBe slow to anger,be swift in talking, judge not.!
ReplyDeleteThunder fire your left nyash there! Idiot! I don't blame you. Its becos you didn't lose a family member that's why you have the guts to vomit such nonsense as 'let's be slow to anger'. BLOODY FOOL
DeleteLet diz b a lesson 2 oda airlines who dnt jst care about ppls life...GEJ u try smal 4 diz 1
ReplyDeleteLet Stella Oduah and Harold Demuren also step aside. The aviation industry needs a total overhaul! And pls they should investigate Air Nigeria,Aero Contractors and d rest while they are at it!
ReplyDeleteKudos 4 the update @Linds..Now we talking..this thing pain me no be small..the victims and victims past shall not die in vain..pls lets make sure we get our voices heard..if we profess to live in democratic societies at home and abroad..we must exercise those rights..!!
ReplyDeleteA message as been sent!
ReplyDeleteand they had better start probing AIR NIGERIA, whether the ex-finance director is negative towards Mr jimoh ibrahim or not....this shouldn't and mustn't happen again. by the special grace of God, if only human beings adhere to safety measures.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to do FG but this should have been done long before now if the right checks where been carried out by the aviation team.
ReplyDeleteSafety Standards demands that before a plane is allowed to fly, it must be certified fit to fly by regulatory bodies.
ReplyDeleteSo happy about this news thou i knew it was coming ...This will serve as a lesson to other Airlines as they will begin to respect human life.
ReplyDeleteWay to go GEJ AND HIS CREW!
is it only Dana air?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the other airlines? from what we read they all should be banned from flying anybody until all the safety regulations for airline operation has been observed.
yeah bt we want arrests, prosecution and life jail for all those who are involved in the ill fated crash
ReplyDeleteNiiiice.....some heads have to roll..mostly Indian heads and they need to be jailed for about thirty years, then deported back to bombay
ReplyDeleteok o..make we see what's next. I hope it won't end there!
ReplyDeleteGOOD! We want heads to roll on this
ReplyDeleteeven though this move wont bring back the dead or the pain in our hearts, its the right way to go.... next is the arrests.
ReplyDeleteGood to withdrawn their license but this can not wake those that have gone. The minister for aviation should also be charge to court. As her job there must be a routine check of all our planes to know their status. May God forgive those that have gone.
ReplyDeleteSomeborry get me a bullet proof vest! Dude your brother is up there signing up with the army to eliminate the taliban, I think he can use ur help too.
DeleteThat's so great,FG needs to flush this indians away from our country, they are just after theirselves, they aint care bout human lives,m currently doing my IT in one of their companies and i know the length they can go just to make money...our leaders need to act before disasters strike and not after,i appr8 what they've done sha...nd kudos to u linda, uve been keeping us well informed.
ReplyDeleteLinda can this be confirmed via a reliable media outlet...can not find this anywhere else...
ReplyDeleteThat's so great,FG needs to flush this indians away from our country, they are just after theirselves, they aint care bout human lives,m currently doing my IT in one of their companies and i know the length they can go just to make money...our leaders need to act before disasters strike and not after,i appr8 what they've done sha...nd kudos to u linda, uve been keeping us well informed.
ReplyDeleteNow datz wots up
ReplyDeleteSeen it...Nigerian Sun online...
ReplyDeleteJonah correct! More of this pls. Just asking pls can they still rebrand with the revocation?
ReplyDeleteYes ooo, you don't. Life its not a dice you play with.
ReplyDeleteAfter how many days. Thought it was automatically withdrawn that sunday. God pleas save us from osama jonathan. *crying*
ReplyDeleteIs that all the FG can do?let the India man be arrested.withdrawal of DANA licence dosent mean anything cause by next year they will change name and continue 2 fly
ReplyDeleteGood,i hope this doesnt go the way things in our dear country usually goes, that is really the word Linda you dnt joke with people's lives esp wen they are paying their hard earned money.Linda wetin i do u nah?post my comments
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this.More please...
ReplyDeleteLet this serve as a lesson to other airlines so dat they'll know u don't joke wit pple's lives cos of selfishness and greed.they should go back to their country abeg. All those Indians are greedy thhieves, they're wicked too. They have no human feelings whatsoever. Good riddance of bad rubbish
ReplyDeleteFG!! surprised me for d very 1st time.wonder shall nver end.oye
ReplyDeletegood move in the right direction, declaring total of the aviation industry should be next overhauling and reviewing all existing licence not forgeting pegging the age of aircraft that could be brought into the country for whatever purpose.
ReplyDeleteNice one FG but I think to be fore warned is to be fore armed. I suggest u look into other offenders and sanction them accordinly...
ReplyDeleteGood one!
ReplyDeleteToo Late
ReplyDeletei love this let really start some arrest cos if we don't do it our up coming children will not forgive us pls bring them to book the dead are crying
ReplyDeleteWat needs 2 b done is put d dana operations ppl and der families in a DANA air flight with a grenade attatched 2 it and off dey go!!
ReplyDeleteBillie jean
Missing after death!!! Fools!!!
ReplyDeleteWithdrawing operating lincense will not wake the dead up!!
"You don't play with people's lives!"
ReplyDeletebut the Nigerian govt has been playing with ALL our lives with their incompetence
ReplyDeleteNow what? I hope it doesn't stop there
ReplyDeleteGood job FG! That's not the end but its a good beginning! Now, let's get to some serious investigation...and compensation for the families left behind without their loved ones.
ReplyDeletewww.nwavic.blogspot.com
You know what's funny? It's when people applaud dictatorial moves like this because it happens to appeal to your current anger. How does withdrawing the operating license of the airline solve the systemic problem in our aviation industry? You think because they yanked Dana Airlines' license, other airlines will shape up? If they really want to save lives, order a mandatory mechanical review of all domestic fleet.
ReplyDeleteWhich License are you withdrawing? They have already beaten the Government to it when they announced since yesterday that they are suspending their operations in honour of the victims. People in government should decide what they want to do. If they want to be behaving like businessmen, they should let us know
ReplyDeleteIs there any way of getting confirmation about the news I just got?that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for - the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Good luck Jonathan.
ReplyDeletePrivate jet owners who had to hover in the air same time leaked this.
Not happy about talk of re-certification and ban could be lifted if their planes are airworthy!!..knew there had to a k-leg in there!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-18330586
I pity those who will lose their JOBS :( but needed
ReplyDeletewat will withdrawing their license do. I work with an airline, (although it's international one)and trust me, no airline will ever want a crash bcos one single crash can ruin an airline. pls lets focus on why the hell the airspace was closed for 2 good hrs, bcos of a single person. ve seen it happen lots of times, and it's just not right.planes ve to hover in d air bcos of unplanned visits. although the airlines ve a part but the system does not help at all
ReplyDeletehmm!...DE JA VU!.....
ReplyDeleteIts about time, my govt is working...
ReplyDelete#Nnewi Son#
In fact make NAFDAC go conduct testing sharp sharp and find it unfit for human consumption and shut them down too!
DeleteCorrect!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Good one, it shouldn't end there, let the FG arrrest the management and owners of the airline,we have lost precious lives including children who could have been leaders tomorrow. The management of Dana airline are heartless, flying a faulty and outdated plane.God will judge them
ReplyDeletenot only to withdraw.
ReplyDeleteThank God! FG don start to dey get sense.
ReplyDeleteThat should have been done 24hrs after the crash. Now the FG ought to fly in aviation experts from the UK and the USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts.
ReplyDeleteArrest Who??? all these for show actions.
ReplyDeleteThat should have been sone 24hrs ago. Now the FG should fly in aviation experts from UK and USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteGood not Dana airlines only the same should apply to every other Airlines in nigeria. enough is enough . they should stop playing with pples lives cos they can't make one.. thank linder
ReplyDeleteThat should have been sone 24hrs ago. Now the FG should fly in aviation experts from UK and USA to carry out a mechanical audit on all privately owned commercial aircrafts in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteAir travel is still the safest means of transportation. #justsaying
ReplyDeletelinda abeg help us verify this one o (see link)...if its true then shege for this country o!

MEDICINE AFTER DEATH...
ReplyDeleteEVEN OUR GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO BE BANNED
RUBBISH
@willadebo
The names on that list is fake!!! Many people are yet to recover the bodies of their loved ones! Please linda confirm what you are putting up before you do so. This is unfair cos peoples emotions are being messed with!
ReplyDeletecant still believe Adanne is gone.Cant forget her forever.remember she was her daddy's favourite.
ReplyDeletePerfect start! While you're at it dear FGN, lets start deporting us some Indians too.
ReplyDeleteI'ld like to say kudos to Mr.
ReplyDeleteP.S: my condolences goes to the family of those who's loved ones died in this tragic accident
ReplyDeleteshame on the person that sent a broadcast saying he had flown in the said aircraft before, and witnessed the problems. why did he not send out a broadcast then and perhaps his complains might have reached the aviation minister, shame on the engineers that are just telling us now that the plane was 22yrs old and should have never hit airspace, shame on everyone sending silly broadcast msgs saying ur picture or mine would never be used as a dp with Rip next to it, cos that's all we are content with, once we, our family and our friends are safe we keep on striving powerlessly in this country that have shattered our dreams & hopes,I don't plan to live 4ever & I consider it a privilege to be on a lot of peoples DP when my time comes, it would simply mean I stood for something, Worse of all shame on all those who signed a condolence broadcast just to be associated with the stars who signed before them, I really don't understand how that would change anything, its not the country or our leaders that is the problem, it is us, we are killing ourselves,if we do not reject this our submissive way of living we would continue to die in our thousands,I am not pointing fingers at anyone, we are all guilty, I am just saying it is time we stand up and make a change or we'll keep dying.
DeleteI have been saying this .
DeleteA good step in the right direction.. More importantly the aviation sector should be overhauled. They need to set standards which must not be compromised. By now I expect that some people should have resigned or betters till sacked
ReplyDeleteIs it true that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

And this jet is used by President, VP, President’s wife and if I recall David Mark.
It’s almost a daily occurrence I’ve been told by airline staff when it caught me out on a trip
The truth remains that the President’s wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant’s child at the Oriental hotel.. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!”
NIgerians need to know what happened?who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday
Pls are u sure of dis infomation? If its true,God pls u r stil a God of Justice.Avenge d soul of des innocent ones.
DeleteTheir spokes person just succeeded in pissing the shit outta me. It's just sad that they could make bold to say the aircraft was air worthy. Despite what the Greman who sold the plane to them said.
ReplyDeleteGoodone Fg!!
ReplyDeleteIs a good decission, but it cannot bring back those who died,so sad,all because of carelesness, which would have been averted.

ReplyDeleteHow about making sure that planes older than 5yrs do not fly our airspaces? I mean if developed countries are using planes 10yrs and older does not mean we should copy them. They have effective emergency rescue systems, we don't. So in the absence of emergency systems in Nigeria, why don't we just fly new planes? Or is this impossible to achieve?
ReplyDelete@Anon 4:59pm God blessed you dearie a friend said jut that yesterday if someone had spoken out before now maybe...............

ReplyDeleteThis doesn't change much.

The truth remains that the President's wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant's child at the Oriental hotel.. Lekki. Anyone living on the Lekki axis saw first hand the horrendous traffic caused by the president's wife's visit..and confirmed reports from airport staff who volunteered information, collaborated this fact, that the Lagos airport was actually shut for 2 hours, about the same time the ill fated Dana Plane crashed. Grief that is so thick in the air, that one can cut through with a knife...rooted soul searching. For a 15 minutes ritual of plane take-off, an airport was shut for 2 hours because our "DEAR FIRST LADY" was scheduled to return to Abuja.. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!''
ReplyDeleteThe smartest way to fly(for profits ofcourse) but never the safest way to fly
ReplyDeleteit shouldnt stop there; what about an immeidate comprehensive investigation into the technical status of the planes of other airlines, their staffing and management crew and level of conformity so far. Followed by immediate withdrawal of license for whoever fails the test to also send a resounding warning to d remaining ones
ReplyDeleteThis means nothing to me.
ReplyDelete,,,Pscheeeeew! now that the truth is coming out (holding up the airspace for Dame), they deceive us and make us feel good by quickly withdrawing Dana's licence without any investigation..Is that the issue..Y hold up d airspace, must you ritualize us all to remain in office...You will surely pay for this if it is true, GOD is watching.
