African Tourism Ministers call for a common visa regime

To shore up its performance in global tourism and encourage intra-travel in the region, African tourism ministers have called for a common visa regime.

They made the call at the 53rd United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Commission for Africa (CAF) conference which held in Calabar, Cross River this week.

Common visa regime; se o possible? Se o necessary?

    1. Balala is no longer Kenya's minister for tourism. It is Danson Mwazo. Linda put up an archive picture of a past event.

  4. All I know is keep those animalistic islamic destroyers in their neck of the woods. Those bastards just made it totally hard for true muslims with muslim names to get visa to anywhere in the world aside from countries that committ terrorist acts

  6. NYC-1 says: You don't give what you don't have. People are afraid of visiting Nigeria bcos of increase in violence and kidnapping. Countries like Ghana and South Africa will shun the idea bcos they have left Nigeria behind. The average man in Nigeria NEEDS FOOD not tourism. Has the govt forgotten Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Nigeria is still crawling even at 51, so stop talking of tourism when there is nothing attractive in your domain.

  12. This is the usual cheap talk one hears whenever politicians meet.

The technocrats who really know how to weigh the pros and cons will tell anyone who cares to listen that a common visa is not a viable option for the continent at the moment.

Each African country has its own internal problems to square out before we can even think of having a common visa. National security prevails over all this talk of African unity.

  16. anonsJune 30, 2012 3:57 PM, u need to get ur facts right, there's n othing so speical n Ghana for them to have left us behind, d capital of Ghana which is Accra is nothing b ut a mini lagos that cannot be compared to Abuja which is capital of Nigeria, Yes they have electricity but there's no house n Ghana that does not have a giant generator mounted in their compounds except for d poor that cannot afford to have, try to have an appt inside Accra - remember to take ur mat to sleep n d traffic and have lunch there - so I need u to explain to me how Ghana is ahead of Naija or is it because obama visited them? i begi

If u r talking about SA, yes I agree with u, they r far and trust me, they are n the world of their own, that country has gone far, naija can never even meet them.

  18. what does this have to do with end times. Nigerians have been brainwashed with stuff thats not even in the bible. how about like beginning times when you didn't need visa to travel. i should not need a visa to travel in africa. its ridiculous. thank God for Ecowas we would have been requiring passport to enter Ghana... this is very welcome even if it would not benefit nigerians since out tourism industry needs a a lot of work but maybe it would be motivation

  19. If u don't like tourism, others do! Ds isn't abt Nigeria bt Africa. Boko haram hz bcome part of Nigeria fyn bt it is left for tourists to choose their destination. We all claim we aint growin at 51,hw do u expect us to grow wtout all ds things coming to reality? Mind u,it is JUST for tourism so to me,its a great idea. Slikky
