What would you do if you find out that your late father willed half of his property to a church?
I heard from very reliable sources that late Otunba Isaac Durojaiye, the pioneer of mobile toilets in Nigeria who died March 21 2012, willed some of his properties to his church, Mountain of fire.
You see thats how it starts..why did it have to be properties??..dispair at all those people attending healing and prosperity churches..it's the poverty i guess doesn't let you reason clearly and question the status-quo!!
I'LL BE INDIFFERENT!. My Dad worked and earned money to acquire his properties, hence he has right to share it the way he feels. An adage in Yoruba says "Agbojulogun o fi ara e fun osi ta"(I hope I got it?) Why must someone hope/wait to inherit his/her fathers properties? Why not Labour to acquire your own wealth? http://mynaijainfo.blogspot.com/
Linda what kind of question is this?I can't see you are not a beliver.if someone wills his God given properties to the house of God,what's wrong with that?..do not take the grace of God in vain linda, whatever u have is from God and if u use it against him by discouraging those doing his will,I just hope you would be able to bear the consequences!you better take this question down and go to God in prayers to set your path right with him.And for what its worth,a persons will isn't for the public's debate but for the beneficiary of the will thereon...so this is a bit out of line.God bless u.

I don't mind but the remaining one has to be enough for me and my siblings. lol..
My guess is that he gave the Church one of his properties to use and to avoid kasala with his family members after his demise he decided to make it legal..

What can I say? It's his decision no be his money he worked hard to earn. I know better than try in front of everyone to contest. Besides as a woman among the men in my family if I dare open my mouth at that time they go tell me to mind my marriage!
Proverbs 13:22 " Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner's wealth passes to the godly" (NLT) it all depends on how a person interprets this so I'm not saying the father in question is a sinner
ONOME says............ Much as I think the Pentecostal prosperity churches are all about wealth and have missed the point of Christianity,MFM has somehow I think manage to evade all such controversies. So what gives?
I firmly believe that the best legacy you can give your children is an education.Teach them how to fish;let them sort out their fish for life by themselves. It teaches industry and hardwork. Why should I have the mindset thru life of inheriting my pa's property? No way.I will make it on my own with God to guide me.
It may seem like betrayal sha but in so far he made his will with his mind intact,I've forgotten what it's called in legal terms;then he can will it to who he deems fit
Linda,I came from a comfortable family,my parents were very cpmfirable infect my dad was n is still the richest man from his village, when he died because he worked for the government,my family saw smoke to get 1naira,he had a lot of real estate around the country rented by government, his cousin stole his will so when he died it was confusion,my older brother succeeded to start handling some things, luckily his younger sisters travelled abroad,1 married a football player,we were still like 10 so we stayed back after he was able to collect a will something sign off,we discover my dad was richer than we knew so my brother was rich n took care of his dad's other kids,he soon married, had a child and the child died,he jojbe church and upon traveling and moving out of country,he gave his house which us one f dad's home, his cars, his wedding rings with his wife like willed almost everything to he church,a year later he died abroad,1mnth later his body came home, while his body was on it's way,my sisters were home, they gathered mopo, and my other brothers and went to that church Eh,towed al, the cars, seized house keys and gave pastor 2hrs to bring rings which he had sold.it was a crazy scene omg my sisters are actresses, they went and there pastors clothes out because house came furnished, in all this churches and pastors are fake when my brother died, they never came to sympathize with my mom, their house which was our other house is a 3minutes walk away how sad I think it's wrong I will challenge the will
and to the deceased , that will definitely not buy you heaven. you cant bribe God. should have better donated it to charity and not to our rogue Pastors.
i will definitely file for a repossession of those properties. For what na? There are better causes to will properties to, not pentecostal churches of these days. Even Oyedepo wont will any of his private business concerns to The church, the man has shown it a countless time that he cares little about the poor in his congregation.
All these people wey dey yarn say dem no care how their father shares his wealth are jokers and are not being realistic. In the first place, your father worked his ass out so that you his childrien wont have to suffer like him again. It is very unreasonable for a father to say because this wealth is my sweat, I reserve the sole right to share it as I like even when it hurts the feelings and temperaments of those he left behind. I am a very hardworking man, that is self reliant but I will be mad if I discovered that my dad in his will, gave most part of his properties to strangers. And Yes, I have the right to be mad, I am entitled to his wealth, it is my right, dont share let me share it with the wrong people just because you can. That is why in he west there are laws that make it neccessary for a married man to make his wife his next of kin and not his brother or cousin. It is not as easy as to say well, it is his properties and his wealth, he can do as he pleases that is bullcrap logic.
Half of his property to church keh?....No problem.....Then I must be made one of d Elders of d church....since na people wey contribute pass dey sit for front row with Elder titles...
from: Jm: This is a good example to us all. if we understand fully well that all that we have; our children, wealth, intellect, possessions, positions etc, no matter how hard we struggle to get them(not through ungodly means o)Is from GOD. Bible says; every good gift comes from above. And the Lord's is the earth and the fullnest thereof. then we must learn to honour/bless God with our substance by giving; to bless His works, His ministers, flocks, to the poor etc. This is not to say that one should not leave an inheritance for ones children(s) 'cause Bible also encourage this by saying that a good father lives goodly inheritance for his children. so, my co pilgrims, the best legacy a father/mother can give to their children is to lead them to God early in live, praying and interceeding to God; (i)for them not to fail concerning their own duties as a parent and (ii)on their behalf for them not to fail God but to fulfil the purpose for which God the creator, created them for. Sufice to say too that education is very paramount to sharpen/enlighten ones mind as this brings one out of bondage and from limitation of attaining greater heights in life. lastly, pleeeasssse, let ALL be prepare for the journey to heaven. wish you all well and Gods abiding in Jesus name.
May God will bless you for this interesting topic.
I don't think that church is as rich as most churches because when a pastor died in the UK, the family of the paster was unhappy that the church could not pay for his coffin to be sent to Nigeria.
For this reason, I think what late Durojaiye did was correct but if it is a church with 2 or 4 jets, do not Will your money to them. They don't need it.
i WILL DO NOTHING..NIGERIAN KIDS THE ONLY THING A PARENT OWES YOU IS A GOOD EDUCATION..PLS LEARN TO WORK FOR YOUR OWN MONEY DO NOT WAIT FOR DADDYS OR MUMMYS MONEY KAPISH
Bamidele is right, agbojulogun gbojulofo!, i.e. the one who has his eyes set on the inheritance has a hollow mind. Empty barrel.I will give my stuff to charity but spare no expense at education for my kids.

People will come here, post controversial comments and leave it as anonymous. How can a man will his property to a church when He has kids? Well, it depends on the side of things you find yourself. If you suffered along with you mother and siblings as your father toiled then you have a right to vex. Even if you did not suffer with him you are entitled. If the church is reasonable and not greedy, its leaders know they do not need it. The offerings and gifts from members are enough. P.S: LINDA YOU SHOULD SAY HI TO INDIVIDUAL READERS FROM TIME TO TIME. ITS UNFAIR TO BE MUM TO MOST OF US. ABI MAKE WE START OUR OWN BLOG?
