Autopsy: Wole Olumide Was Strangled; He Didn't Commit Suicide

Late Egba chieftain, politician and architect, Apagun Wole Olumide did not commit suicide as is being circulated in media spaces but was rather strangled to death at the artificial lake beside the Golf resort Hotels, according to the result of an autopsy carried out by the family.

Apagun Olumide died on Friday in a manner that has been speculated as suicide, after excusing himself from his driver only to be found lifeless in the lake hours later. His remains, recovered by local divers, was intercepted by the Police on Saturday morning and later deposited at the morgue of the Neuropshychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta.

However, divulging the details of the autopsy released on Sunday, a family source said the late right-hand man of former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, was strangulated to death. - (The Will)

  4. I sensed dat d initial report cnt be true. OGD shud be questioned, i feel it is a way of shutting out a sole witness to a court case against him & making it luk lyk a suicide. Ve said М̣̣̥̇̊Ɣ own.

  11. Lobatan! I knew we've not heard the last of this story.
If a witch flies across the window at midnight and the baby dies early in the morning, I don't think we need to call wikileaks to show us the link between the two events.
Its not from my mouth you'll hear that teacher's mum has kicked the bucket.

  25. The word is "strangled" not "strangulated". I know it's not written by you, but it's not a bad idea to correct these things.

  30. I could have told you guys that one for free. I knew him, did some work for him in 2004 or so. Nice man, had passion for golf and tourism in Abeokuta.
His driver is a strong suspect (if I had a say in the investigations). I hope he made his peace with God.

  34. I am, the no Sender.

It's a pity. Condolence goes to the family for the fortitude to bear the loss.
Question(s): why did he have to stop where he did to disembark? Was it to swin at the lake or abi na stream? Could he have had a phone call that resulted in him stopping where and when he did? Was there a business issue or the political one at hand?
So many questions and the answers I pray not to elude the exacting hearts of those who genuinely want to get to the bottom of this. God help us all.

  35. How do we know the driver was not involved?? So the man, "excused himself" from his driver in the middle of nowhere and walks into a bush only to be found dead? They need to check for the driver's DNA! I wont be surprised if the driver was paid to end him and dump his body. No other witnesses to him walking away alone into the bush...??

  36. the story is kinda dodgy, y would he go into d bush to pee. plus tha autopsy result is so fast.oga oooo

  37. you need to do your research and stop joining rumour mongers. The man conmmitted sucide. Why is it so hard for Nigerians to dismiss mental health issues and jump to conclusions. He was very depressed prior to his death.Get off the false reporting wagon.

  38. Onix; both are used actually but "strangled" is more modern.

  39. Of course I knew it he can't possibily commit suicide where he went was a meeting place for him and some people he didn't want his drive to know and he was the one who sent the driver away not knowing the people he wanted to meet are lions.........RIP ( My Opinion)because lots as been going on in his life lately
