Kanu Nwankwo and wife welcome baby girl

My bad! I actually wrote last week that Kanu and his wife were expecting...but I've just confirmed that Amarachi Kanu has actually given birth. She gave birth to the couple's third child together on Wednesday January 11th 2012 at a hospital in the US.

The new bundle of joy, a girl, is named after Amarachi. Big congrats to Kanu and Amarachi.

  24. YAY! I was actually wishing her a girl on the last post Linda placed about her pregnancy and I am glad God answered her since I am sure she was probably looking forward to having a girl. God bless them. Kanu, I beg you in the name of God CUT THE BRAIDS! It is not cute for a man of your age to still be wearing braids. It is immature, please get rid of it and look like a grown man and not a thug wanna-be. Enjoy your baby girl, man! I wish you all continued success. Lovely family.

  44. @ Anonymous 11:52am: you are completely deranged!! What do you mean by "escape the Igbotic accent?" Are they (Kanu and his wife) not Igbos? Shouldn't they have Igbotic accent? Or are they supposed to have yorubatic or Hausatic accent? Inferiority complex has made you mad and blind!! Kitikpo gbachikwa gi anya! By the way, I'm IGBO and I have IGBOTIC accent.

A big congrats to a happy family, wish u many more blessings associated to family life, and may she bring joy not only to your family but to the entire world. and to Annon feb 18,2012 11:52am you are very stupid tell me which tribe in Nigeria that does not have their own accent, who knows d stupid tribe u come from ZOMBI, unlearned fool go get a life Igbos are proud of their tribe u fustrated animal

  47. @ Bee - how we for take that your statement because e fit go two ways - 1. as a complement as in it is amazing that there are people who still do it in an era where it seems everyone wants to bear English name OR 2. as an insult as in it's amazing that people are still naming their children traditional aka bush aka village names.

I really hope that you meant the first one.

  48. Since when did it become abominable to speak with an accent. The same way there are English, American, French....accents is the same way there is the Igbo accent.

Accent is an aspect of people's identity. It is the unique way they speak. Same way I can tell an Igbo man from his accent is the same way I can tell a Yoruba and Hausa man from their accent. Is that even an issue?

Laughable how some of us tend to be more American/British than the Americans/British. It's high time we embraced our identity.

  49. Congratulations Kanu and Amarachi. I like Kanu he has taste, look at Amarachi after three she is like teenager, nice looking and keep it up.

  51. Chichiluv,

Na to take am in a good way. Amazing means good. I guess i should have be clearer.

These days all you see are foreign names up and down the place. as if we no get culture. So it is a good thing to see people still embracing their culture through names.
