Well we may have to wait for at least a year to see if there are any improvement or concrete actions towards improving infrastructure and other sectors of the economy to truly know if he is sincere. But the problem is, can people endure till that time? Was there no other way of generating money like cutting the cost of governance and saving Nigerians all these hardship?
Anonymous 8:09pm, every enlightened individual knows that removal of fuel subsidy is in the best interest of any country. But I beg to ask you (as I have been doing lately), Is removal of fuel subsidy the ONLY option for improving any lacklustre economy? Did other triving economies remove subsidies to be stable? Why must the poor masses be the sacrificial lamb on the alter of falacies whenever any LYING government comes up with methods of improving the economy? Why must fuel subsidy be removed in a society where majority of the people live below one dollar a day, power supply is erratic and resources are not shared equally and equitably? For your information, the only means of attaining positive results ultimately from the fuel subsidy removal is if there exists a competitive market (which I doubt would happen). GEJ is promising us that SOON, we would reap the dividends. Pls, do ask him, WHEN IS SOON going to be attained? 5yrs, 10yrs, a century, a millennium (I guess)? Or when the streets would be littered with decaying carcasses of poor people, whose primary cause of death was HUNGER, secondary to FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL. Lets call a spade what it is! There is not up to 50% guarantee that the UTOPIA they envision would materialize. It would still be business as usual! WHO IS FOOLING WHO!

People make me laugh when they say stuff like 'they regret voting for GEJ'. Whom would you have voted for? Buhari? What is there to say that he would have been better?
First of all, know that Buhari headed PTF which was a creation of Abacha's oil subsidy removal when it was increased from N3 to N11. So, in essence, Buhari believes in subsidy removal.
Secondly, I do not imagine that Jonathan would purposely seek to punish Nigerians. I'm sure this is being done for the greater good. If we all remember, GSM was N50 when they first started, but it is now about N10. So may be this is what will happen here...

d greatest mistake Femi Kuti made was not impregnating several girls. It was ever allowing Dbanj to be dressed like Fela and play a Fela song at the Shrine with Femi and the positive force band backing him. That day Fela turned in his grave. Femi needs to perform rituals for his father to forgive him that sacrilege. Dbanj is a prototype of everything that is wrong with youth of this generation. Nigerians would be better off on the long run as a result of the PMS subsidy removal but there are better approaches to its implementation.
GEJ woke up from the blues and gave Nigerians a bombshell on the 1st day of the year.
Had he given a national broadcast before the removal stating the available options and their resultant outcomes and the reason for his preferred choice, the effect of his final decision would have been cushioned.
Another national broadcast immediately the subsidy was removed would also have pacified Nigerians.
Whatever decisions GEJ and his cohorts in Aso rock make, they should realize that such decisions directly affect the everyday life of Nigerians irrespective of thier status in the society.
They should also realize that power is transient and someday they will be out of that 'rock' where they take refuge of all sorts.
