Photo of the day: Mammoth Crowd at MMA2

This is what the Murtala Mohammed Airport looked like this morning after five days of nationwide strike which led to the shut down of airspace. The airport was re-opened today and well, you can see the number of people who need to fly out...

  33. Jehovah please, in your infinite mercy change the hand of power in my country so that all this horrible, self centered, lack of vision, lack of leadership skills and careless people can be wiped away from the face of the earth and let the peaceful wind blow across Nigeria, a country of aboundant resources. Ase n te dumare, sooooo shall it be.

  34. Am sure some airport officials will make use of this opportunity to exploit some travelers by collecting money from some pole to displace the ones that are actually meant to be on a flight

  43. Linda, how many times I called you. Stop blogging rubbish. Those people in the photo was on Night Vigil. They are fasting and praying.

  44. Good people, many of the people you see here came to use the ATMs at the airport as they were unaware the banks would be open. As you know, several ATMs operate 24/7 at the airport even on Saturday and many people thought that this was their best bet at getting funds to tide the impending strike if it continued.

  45. A LETTER TO LINDA

    Dear Linda,

I just read about the outcome of the meeting....THE STRIKE STILL CONTINUES!.....but my fear is PEOPLE ARE GETTING HUNGRIER BY THE DAY!

A wedding reception was robbed in broad daylight yesterday (saturday) in my area. And when i went to the market, some people were begging for food, not for money, but FOOD!

A kingpin in a popular motor-park in my area had to arrange for food to be prepared for the touts in the park, so that hunger would not make them start to rob innocent people!

I am for the strike and prepared but we had cause to lend money to friends, because no money in the ATM.

The reason i am writing and appealing to you, is that you should let people know the STRATEGY GEJ 'camp' are deploring to sabotage this strike which MIGHT collapse gradually when HUNGER begins to rain it's blow on the impoverished masses...this would have a multiplying effect.... i just pray and hope our efforts would not be in vain..please NLC should re- strategize asap.

    Thank you.
