New Police IGP Abubakar Is A Religious Fanatic; Indicted Over Jos Crisis

M.D Abubakar
Here's something you all need to know about your new acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar. Culled from The Will
Nigeria’s New Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed D. Abubakar is a religious fanatic, according to a White Paper released by the panel that reviewed the 2001 Jos crisis.
The Justice Niki Tobi led panel also indicted Abubakar for his "ignoble role in the crisis" and recommended that he be forced to retire immediate from the force, and even went as far as recommending his sack, if he declines a request to resign honourably, following his complicity in the killing of Christians in Plateau State during the religious crisis in that state.
If all this is true, then I finally give up on this government. Continue reading...

Justice Niki Tobi is a highly respected retired Supreme Court Justice.

Abubakar was an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, but was Plateau State Commissioner of Police during the crisis in 2001 during the administration of former Governor, Mr. Joshua Dariye.

The panel was constituted on September 7, 2001 to review and proffer solutions to the perennial religious crisis that has plagued the state, but its report was eventually made public on February 16, 2010, local paper The Nation reported.
A newspaper journalist that followed the panel’s investigations and several interviews conducted as part of its exercise told THEWILL on Wednesday that from the testimonies received from respondents, it was obvious that Abubakar took sides with the Muslim/Hausa community, while they massacred Christians during the conflict.

His appointment as Acting IGP is also coming at a time when the Boko Haram has placed a Fatwa on all Christians living in Northern Nigeria.

It is however not clear why the panel’s recommendation on his sack was not implemented. State Governments have little or no control over the police force or the Police Service Commission.

The White Paper released by the Plateau State Government said: "Religious fanatics should not be posted to head state police commands. The commission recommends that for his ignoble role during the September 2001 crisis which resulted in the loss of lives, the former Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Alhaji M.D. Abubakar, be advised to retire from the Nigeria Police Force and in the event of his refusal to do so, he should be dismissed from the service."

The panel further said, "The non-implementation by government of the report of previous commissions of enquiries and in particular the report of the commission of enquiry into the riots of April 12, 1994 in Jos metropolis (the main features of which are very similar to the September 2001 civil disturbances) is a sure recipe for a repeat performance of such disturbances".

"There was strong and convincing evidence before the commission that: on April 11, 1994, just a day before the fateful day, Alhaji Yaya Aga Abubakar, the President of Jasawa Development Association, in the company of Alhaji Aminu Mato’s younger brother, Sanusi Mato, held a meeting at Masallaci Juma at Jos with the Jasawa community during which they resolved to carry out a demonstration the following day.

"So, Yaya Abubakar and Sanusi Mato were directly connected with riots. They were the leaders of the insurrection that brought disaster and shame to Jos metropolis, to Plateau State and to Nigeria, that brought death and destruction of lives and properties".

  6. Cry my beloved country. A man who willfully flouted the order and recommendation of a panel of inquiry set up by the federal government and nothing was done to him, will never take orders from such authority. Jonathan should be ready for all kinds of mess from the police force and different kinds of insubordination. In fact, now that he has been given enormous power, he can place fatwa on the whole of Nigeria.
LINDA IF THIS BLOG IS NOT BEING READ AND MONITORED IN ASO ROCK, YOU HAVE NOT ACHIEVED ANYTHING. WE NEED THEM TO HEAR FROM US, ELSE ALL OUR RANTING HERE IS IN VAIN AND HOLDS NO WATER. PUSH MORE BUTTONS BABY GIRL. THEY NEED TO KNOW,!!!!!!!!

  7. Mr Migammed D Abubakar is already a member of the enemy. He's stained, tarnished and has blood on his hands. He's not fit or morally qualified to occupy the post of IG of police. He should be kicked out immediately or he will have more Igbos, Christians and southerners murdered. Are there no other tribes apart from Muslim / Hausa? What the hell is going. His predecessor was Muslim / Hausa. Why the hell has GEJ given the IG post to another bloody Muslim / Hausa? Why? If a northerner must occupy the IG post, then why not Christian / Hausa. GEJ, I don't support you o in your appointment of this thug. He will turn out to be worse than his predecessor. So, please kick him out so he does no more damage. Abubakar as the IG is like appointing a fox to guard the chickens. I will rather have a white colonial IG than another hopeless, inept and EVIL as IG of Nigerian Police Force.

To do background checks in Nigeria, you ll go to the police. It's dead on arrival my buddie. We don't even have records keeping devices. that's why a convict will get out of prison and be elected into public office.

  15. It's time for young people to take over. if they really want to create jobs for young people, then they should start by advertising for those who want to join the force, training them through foreign bodies and making the profession a noble one. All the present people should be sacked or at least the good ones should be separated from the bad ones through tests, etc. and the bad ones should be sacked. Nigeria needs newness and freshness #justranting

  19. Well I dont know about this but he was superb as commissioner for police in Lagos State a few years ago. The records are still there to prove. I remember watching him on Funmi Iyanda and Governor Fashola always lapping up praise for him.

  20. 2 things involved: either he is wisely telling d thief to take care of d property(hoping he wuldnt steal what is in his care),or he is laying d foudation for his(GEJ) eventual disgrace (which is inevitable)

  22. Linda, I am Yinka Audu and I am as concerned as you are in this matter. But, have you bothered to ask why that recommended was not touched for nearly eleven years? Have you seen the investigative report of Sahara Reporters on this Niki Tobi? The Federal Government under Obasanjo would have realised that the recommendation was biased. By the way, OBJ set up the panel. Now, what exactly did the new IG of Police do to warrant such that recommendation?

OBJ didn't follow the recommendation. Yar'Adua whose judgment in matters of national interest is enviable didn't touch it. And now Jonathan appoints him IGP.

Besides, it is a recommendation. It is not backed by law. It is not a court order. Who says personal interests may not have influenced that recommendation. If you read the Sahara Reports story July 5 2010, you will understand that anything could have been possible if the 'reward' is right.

My view: let the new man be left to do his job. If he fails, we crucify him. Who knows, God may have kept him for a time like this. By the way, do you know that his first son, Jamil, is a born again Christian? That is what his haters won't tell you.

  35. I was in Jos when all of these happened. YES i can confirm to you all that your new IG MD ABUBAKAR is a fanatic and was part of the grand conspiracy to kill innocent people in Jos. It is sad that a man with such a record and indictment by a proper panel headed by a competent and highly respected Justice of the Nigeria judicial system like Niki Tobi can be allowed to rise to this rank in our police system. I bet you they know about his records. What do you expect when you have a MUMU for president.

  38. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE JOS 2001
    riots could have been AVIODED.

I remember that September evening so vividly....brothers,sisters,friends running around from Abuja to Naraguta hostels making sure that everyone was safe, in fact everyone was in panic, unijos lost a number of students that day.
The memories till this day makes my heart skip cos I too missed getting caught up in the riots only by 15-20 mins.
if Jonathan had this report on his table and went ahead to make this man the acting AIG then non Hausa/Fulani Nigerians are in danger and proves that you Mr. president is indeed a stooge and a born fool to hilt.!
    GOD saves us all.

The sanctity and integrity of our country lies in our hands for as long as we refused to be instruments of destruction in the hands of the so called elites and armed bandits called politicians in Nigeria. What a shame, new IG with lots of questions to answer about his character and past; we all can tell what will happen next.

  41. @Yinka Audu, balanced and unbiased write up.I heard on gud records that background check was done and he was found FAULTLESS.
When he was commissioner of Lagos, this guy instituted the SECURITY TRUST FUND that takes care of security issues in lagos, from patrol vehicles to security welfare. He made room for the now security town hall meetings. We are enjoying relative safety and security in Lagos as a result of his security blue prints.
I will never stand against truth and justice but i can say of a truth, lets see this guy.Change can only come if we are ready.Hear what the rank and files in the NP are saying about him,its thus amazing that we are allowing sentiments to becloud our judgements and serving as a tool for anti progress folks in Nigeria.
If he doesn't perform,he will be shown out. I have asked Linda this question last nite,he who is without sin,let him cast the first stone...Am happy with the balanced views of the gentlemen of the press so far.

  46. hi my name is macdonald peter, i hate when you guys post stories that have not been verified, thanks to yakubu audu. the man you guys are crucifying saved lagos state from the hands of armed bandits. I remember a time when my car was snatched by robbers along epe- ijebu ode road, i was refered to a station in ogun state, and the police men there complained bitterly the lack of performance of their CP, saying "mohammed abubakar has driven armed robbers away from lagos to ogun" More so, this same man when he was CP in Lagos state would wake up in the middle of the night, all by himself, and disguised, he will drive to different police station to check if they are working or lounging. this is what i call sefless service, i dont know this guy, but i have heard good stories. Why didnt people bring up the nikki tobi story when he was promoted AIG. Politicians know what he will do to them if they are caught, guess what? those retired DIGs, you think they would be happy with him being the IG? they must have had their candidates. IG mohammed abubakar is no respecter of class, or anyone. Can we sing the National anthem for him?!!!!!!!!

  47. @Macdonald and Samuel,am glad you guys are seeing the truth.Who no like better thing?Linda,i have high respect for you and have met you on one or two occasions, pls for the sake of the future, lets do our own checks.I will never allow all these greedy men use me against the future of my people.Pls lets say no to all those sponsoring these bad press.I am angry because i got this story from point blanknews.com a day before the annoucement that MD ABUBAKAR will replace Rigim.Meaning,it was well timed. We shall#Occupy till we get Nigeria to where it should be.My people, let us resist these monsters trying to frustrate our peace.I have my eyes on perfomance and not "indictment".We must over come in this country.Has the man spoken since?

Linda, answer these questions:the Jos issue was Muslims killing Christians right? The Governor Joshua Dariye; a Christian, set up the State Judicial panel with Nikki Tobi ; a Christian.Joshua needed to retain his job,was it not natural to do the blame game? Put it on some one at least. Why was the recommendation not sent to PSC? Why did take 12yrs for the outcry? This same man had served in several capacities and States as commissioner of Police and AIG respectively, why was he not dismissed? Why now?
Linda, pls investigate this gist,I just got it from a very reliable sox.Joshua Dariye I was told his wife went mad after entering a room in his house that was " out of bound" she found a human being there used for rituals.Pls find out if his wife is really mad.If it's true, then women should rise and face him headlong! Am serious about this.Enuf of all these politicians using women for rituals.
