MC Loph's pregnant fiancee discharged from hospital + His burial details

 

MC Loph's pregnant fiancee, Nkiru Orji, who was in the car that killed the musician, his sister and cousin, has been discharged from the hospital after partially recovering from the injuries she sustained from the fatal accident. Nkiru, who is now in stable health, is incredibly still pregnant. Isn't God wonderful?

Meanwhile MC Loph will begin his final journey on Sunday Oct 23, with a candle light procession/tribute concert at Ojez , National stadium, Surulere. The wake keep is on Thursday Oct 27, and he will be buried at his home town, Igwuaro, Umunze, Anambra state on Friday Oct 28th.

May his soul continue to rest in peace..amen.

Nigerian playwright, Jallo wins African Playwriting Prize

Zainab Jallo, a poet and playwright from Nigeria has won the West African zonal prize of the Arterial Network maiden continental Playwriting Competition.

Jallo’s play, Onions Make Us Cry, and five others from other zones (Northern Africa, Central Africa, Southern Africa, Eastern Africa and Western Africa) came top in the zonal finals.

My people, I'm in SA o. Came here yesterday. Between flying, sleeping, eating, looking around like a JJC, taking pictures and checking out all the fine fine guys at the Hilton Sandton Hotel where I am lodged (yes, I had to say that...I'm gradually becoming a VIP..lol) I've not had time to open my computer...until now.

I'm here for the African Fashion Week which is taking place at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesbourg, from 20-23 Oct.

I'm here till Tuesday and I plan to enjoy myself well well and relax a little. But will definitely find time to blog...and also upload pictures from the fashion week. The fashion event starts in a few hours so I got to go.

The Beat FM OAP who handles the Morning Rush from 6am to 11am every week day resigned officially on Oct 14th, handing in a two weeks notice to the management of the radio station. So from November 1, you will no longer hear her voice on Beat FM.

Hopefully another radio station will snatch her up!

Libyan Prime minister, Mahmoud Jibril, has confirmed the killing of Libyan dictator, Moammar Gaddafi.

We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Muammar Gaddafi has been killed," Jibril told a news conference in the capital Tripoli.

Gaddafi was killed by rebels in his hometown Sirte today. He was captured alive but was killed as he tried to escape. His son, Mutassim, has been captured

Haba Onyeka! Why now? - Patrick Doyle

Friday October 14 was not a very good day for me. I woke up and my attention was drawn to a very sordid article in a national newspaper as well as calls from colleagues all over the world directing me to various sites on the internet carrying the same sordid tale in which the well known singer, Onyeka Onwenu, had poured invectives on Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) under whom Onyeka has served in different capacities for several years. 

I felt very bad because I know the facts in the matter which had been so badly twisted in the newspaper and internet stories to damage the name of a good man.

LIB Initiative

An idea just came to me and I wanted to share it with you guys and find out what you think. I was thinking of starting an initaitive/NGO, nothing serious...just myself and my readers donating to charities, orphanages, old people's home etc...

I want to call it Linda Ikeji Blog Initiative, (LIB Initiative), where we basically donate cash, goods and services as a group to organizations and charities. Obviously it's not for every LIB reader, just anyone who's interested in being part of this. I feel like we can make a difference. There are thousands of us here who can impact positively on our society and touch lives.

When we want to donate as a group to charities, some LIB readers will come with us, and those who can't will just make a donation (we will figure out the modalities later).

I also want us to take up cases of people who need money for life-changing surgeries, people who are sick and can't afford their hospital bills, dustbin children, rape, acid victims etc...

What do you guys think? Would some of you be interested? Or should I go and sit down with my idea and concentrate on my blogging? :-). It's just a suggestion, let me know what you think...

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Soulja was in a car with 4 other men, which was originally pulled over for a traffic violation.

Missing Oghogho Esigie found

Oghogho Esigie was found today Oct 18th after she went missing on Wednesday Oct 5th, 2011 in Warri, Delta state. (If you missed the story, read it here).

She was kidnapped and the kidnappers called her parents demanding for 5million naira. As the negotiation was going on, early hours of today, one of the kidnappers snitched on the rest of the gang and let her go. She is home now, as healthy as she left.

There's a battle currently going on between ace musician, Onyeka Onwenu and Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, boss, Chief Tony Okoroji over the N3 million donation made by the Cross River State Government to facilitate the burial rites of late Christy Essien-Igbokwe.

Outrage over hit and run in China. Toddler ran over by two vehicles and ignored by passers-by

A video showing a toddler hit twice by vans and then ignored by passers-by is sparking outrage in China.

The 2-year-old girl, identified as Wang Yue, is in critical condition following Thursday's accident. State media on Tuesday quoted the Guangzhou Military District General Hospital as saying that the child is unlikely to recover.

A closed-circuit television video obtained by state media shows the toddler walking on a narrow market street when she is struck by a van. The 2yr old was left writhing in a street as roughly a dozen pedestrians, cyclists and motorists passed by inside a wholesale market in Foshan, a city in China’s southern Guangdong province, and no one bothered to help her. The girl was run over a second time by a light-duty truck before a trash picker finally picked her up.

The little girl had just returned from kindergarten, when her mother left her alone at the family’s hardware store to retrieve laundry, the China Daily reported.

Are the people in China mad? Every body that passed this child should be jailed. Watch the unbelievable video after the cut...but please warning, the video is very disturbing...don't watch if you don't have the stomach for such...
