The Federal Government is set to deliver additional 750MW of electricity to the national grid from the multi-million dollars Olorusogun Phase II National Integrated Power (NIPP) by November this year.
The Olorunsogo project worth about $600 million is in addition to other ongoing NIPPs which are Omotosho, Ondo State; Ihovbo, Edo State; Alaoje, Abia State; Egbema, Imo State; Gbaran, Bayelsa State; Calabar, Cross River State; Omoku, Rivers State; Geregu, Kogi State and Sapele, Delta State.

Elephants Tusks coming to Lagos intercepted in Kenya

A shipment of elephant tusks were intercepted at the Jomo Kenyatta international airport in Nairobi May 6, 2011. The smuggled consignment of 115 pieces of raw ivory weighing about 1.4 tonnes were intercepted by Kenyan authorities on May 5, as they were en route to Lagos, Nigeria. Kenya remains opposed to the lifting of the international ivory trade ban. - Reuters

What do you guys think of adult twins dressing identical all the time?

I understand twins dressing identical...but when it's all the time, then it's no longer cute. My sister's neighbours drive me nuts. Every time I go visit her and I see them, I want to pull the weave on head till I bleed. I've never seen anything like it...everything they wear is identical, from the clothes, to the slippers to ear rings, watch, wrist band, to the colour of weave and hair style, and I'm sure their under wear. How do we tell you guys apart if you beaches keeping wearing exact same stuff? Even identical twins need their own identity...whaharell? As children and teens and even young adults...it's cute. But as grown ass 30-something year olds? You guys are pissing me off.!!!

I'm complaining so much because one of them told my sister that I don't greet her whenever I see her. Beach, how am I supposed to greet you again when I just greeted you about 30 minutes ago? Oh, that was your sister? How was I supposed to know that? Y'all look same to me. But see, if you insist on dressing identical all the time, how about one of you fall, hit your head on the ground, and have a visible permanent scar, so we common people can tell you guys apart? And then I can greet you every time I see you, how about that?

Mass Exodus Hit Latter Rain Church Over Pastor Bakare's Failed Political Ambition

According to City People Magazine, there is a great unrest in pastor Tunde Bakare's Latter Rain Church as many members have deserted the church saying they can no longer follow the doctrine of a man who joined forces with a man (General Buhari) perceived by many, even Northerners, as an Islamic fundamentalist, who told his northern follows never to vote for anyone who was not a Muslim.

Pastor Bakare in the perspective of some of his congregation may have flouted the biblical injunction which says 'Do not be unequally yoked to an unbeliever'.

Also according to one member of his church, he clearly went against a declaration he made in 2006 in a popular Nigerian Daily where he declared this "Let me tell you the truth by the spirit of God, neither Obasanjo, Atiku, IBB, Buhari, are part of the new. They are part of the old that is decaying. That old is passing away. The new is emerging and these ones are not part of the new."

So it irked some of his members that he could eat his words and join forces with the 'old'. They say despite his ability to hear God's voice, he still took the plunge and latched unto a man that had been divinely rejected by God, making it daunting that the pastor got a revelation from God and then blatantly acted against it.

Do they have a point?

Nigerian Couple Jailed In UK For Sham Marriage

A Nigerian and his lesbian partner were jailed yesterday in the United Kingdom over a sham marriage. Nigerian, Abraham Akinola, 32, and his bride-to-be Roqsilmar Marti, 28, a lesbian from the Netherlands, were due to get married at St John’s Church in Tilbury, Essex, on August 25 last year but were instead slapped in handcuffs when police and Borders Agency officials hiding in the vestry jumped out to arrest them.

I promise you, there's absolutely no ojoro in this at all. I have absolutely no idea who this guy is, and nobody at the Nokia office (who picked the winner) know him. They picked him based on the answer he gave. They shortlisted down to three and felt his answer was the most creative. Below is what he wrote...

I'm an IT technician. One of the most creative things I did with my Nokia N97 mini was when I downloaded an antivirus update from avast! and transferred the file through b/tooth to an infected system at one of my client's offices at Ago-Iwoye in Ogun state.

After cleaning the system of all viruses, I used my N97's 8gb internal memory as a removable drive and did a back-up of my client's computer.

My Nokia N97 mini made my day and saved my client's valuable data! And this is apart from Ovi maps saving me from getting lost on more than one occassion in remote places in Lagos!

That's according to Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), who picked the song for it's lyrical content after many months of deliberating. I love the song and think it deserves it but my personal choice for song of the decade would have to be Tuface Idibia's African Queen. What about you? What's your Nigerian song of the decade?

If you live in Nigeria, how is the power situation in your area? My brother came to me last night asking for money to buy fuel for the generator, and I looked at him like, what does fuel mean? Seriously we used to buy N1, 500 fuel every other day in my house and this happened for many years, until about a few months ago. Now there's constant power that sometimes I feel like it's a set up. Are you experiencing same in your area?

EFCC rearrests former bank chiefs, directors

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday rearrested the former chief executive officers of AfriBank, Finbank, Union and Intercontinental banks and eight other directors in Lagos. According to Femi Babafemi, the commission’s spokesperson, the arrests were based on fresh discoveries. While confirming the arrest of Erastus Akingbola, the former managing director of Intercontinental Bank who was out on bail after a series of court appearances, Mr Babafemi said: “These are fresh charges but they are related — not only him, but three other former MDs (managing directors) and eight other directors; about eleven of them are arrested.”

Fear grips Christians in Kano and Kaduna following news of Osama's death

Many Christian residents in some areas in Kano and Kaduna left their homes in panic yesterday for fear of an attack on them by Muslims fanatics after news of Osama Bin Laden's death was made public. The late terrorist has some followers there.

Christians in these states were attacked and killed in 2004 by Muslim Osama supporters after the US invaded Afghanistan in search of Osama. The Christians are worried it could happen again...though quite a number of them returned home today.

There's heavy police presence in the streets to contain any protests that might rise. Hopefully nothing like that will happen.
