A group of homosexuals two days ago stormed the Senate to defend same sex marriage.
One of the protagonists, Dr. Otibho Obiowu, argued that criminalizing same sex marriage would make many young men and women refugees in their fatherland, adding that many Nigerians migrated abroad due to lack of enabling legislation to protect their belief in same sex marriage.
“Due to lack of enabling law that would protect gays, lesbians and bisexuals, many of these people are living pretentious lives. Criminalizing same sex marriage makes us refugees, it forces us to seek asylum in other countries. This also affects our beloved country as emigration causes brain drain.
I've always said everyone's sexual preference is their business and I have nothing against gay people but there's definitely a limit. They can do themselves behind close doors, or date openly, that's their business, but MARRIAGE? No way in hell should that be allowed in this country. But why are they even debating this? This is a third world country with bigger problems, don't they have other pressing issues to talk about? This is a non issue abeg! Continue to read more...
“Many talented Nigerians are living in the diaspora openly as gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals. We contribute positively to the development of our country of residence but we are afraid to come and live and contribute to the development of our motherland because of victimization.
“Some Nigerian lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals living in the diaspora are married to same sex partners or planning to do so. This is indeed unfair because consensual adult relationship should not be punished. Love is tender, a beautiful thing that should be celebrated, not condemned or criminalized,” he said.
After Obiowu’s presentation, many gays and lesbians who came to the public hearing to argue their case insisted that there is nothing wrong with the practice, stating that they were being stigmatized unnecessarily.
Also present at the hearing were members of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON). The group, which kicked against same sex marriage, warned the legislators against partaking in any move that would jeopardize the norms and values of the Nigerian people.
The group described same sex marriage as biblically wrong, legally condemned and medically wrong. According to the group, same sex marriage would end in futility.
It would be recalled that Senator Domingo Obende representing Edo North Senatorial District, recently sponsored a Bill that will make homosexuality illegitimate.
Declaring open a public hearing on the Bill for an act to transfer convicted offenders (2011) and same sex marriage (Prohibition) Bill, organized by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, openly condemned the practice, describing same sex marriage as offensive to both culture and tradition.
Mark said the whole idea was foreign and alien to Nigerian culture. According to him, considering such act as freedom would be a freedom too many “and Nigerians cannot allow their traditions and value system to be eroded by foreign culture.”

God Forbid, i reject it in Jesus name
ReplyDelete“and Nigerians cannot allow their traditions and value system to be eroded by foreign culture.” REALLY?? The idiot that said this name is Mark.Is Mark a Nigerian name? The same bible/Christianity they are referring to is a foreign culture that was bestowed on us.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of talk is this again for God's sake? Na wah o! When men and woman full everywhere? God save us from this impending soddom and gomorrah...Meggy
ReplyDeleteLol..Great minds..I was just Gonna say God forbid bad thing like the first commenter. They shouldn't turn Nigeria into Soddom and Gomorrah.
ReplyDeletethe biggest issue i have with this is- of allllllll Naija's problems dat need legislation, na same sex marriage our law makers see fit to contend??? nothing can shock me again in this country! how is dis goin to solve d problem of pple dying on our roads daily, or the dead healthcare services....talk less of unemployment, poverty, education homelessness...and all??? I am disgusted to say the least...this is just an attention seeking shirade, n i hope dese lawmakers come to their right minds real soon, n toss dis nonsense out n TRY to actually deal wit naija's real probs!!! I cant even address dose ones goin to fight against the ban, givin d silly excuse dat pple now migrate abroad cos of their sexual preferences....if dats d case na bcos dose pple no get sense to begin wit...they r not a loss to nigeria! pls pls pls lets stop all d sensationalism n get on wit our real issues!
ReplyDeleteHomosexuality, especialy the act of men gaying each others rear ends (like "hungry" dogs) is foreign to Nigerian culture. It was introduced to Nigeria by Christian missionaries from UK and Europe and islamist Arabs and others from North Africa and Middle East, especially Isrealis, Syrians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Saudis, and others. In Nigeria, many top people government, army, clergy, police, navy, air force, judiciary are gay.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, the judiciary has always been very gay. male Judges kissing and fondling each other, etc. Have you never seen how judges dress? Isn't it gay-ish? If you understand Yoruba (as I do!) you will understand the full meaning of judi-ciary. For those of you that don't speak Yoruba, it means shoot out your arse.
Linda thank you very much for the picture that you used to accompany this post. It's obvious that you're one of those that believes that all homosexuals do is have sex all day long. They have no emotions and do not seek any type of emotion. Just rape and have group orgies in public.
ReplyDeleteI got emotional as I read this because of the rhetoric you used. "They stormed the senate." It's the same way that American media downplays their female politicians where they say that the women "stormed" and "argued" while the men "stated." It's all good.
I thank God that there are actually Nigerians, IN Nigeria who are willing and able to stand up for themselves. I just pray the don't get lynched by Nigeria's ever present mob that throws tires on people and burns them with petrol in public.
I pray my children grow up to understand that there is nothing Christian about denying people their fundamental human rights, and murdering them in cold blood for requesting it.
why dem fall their hand now....??.......our so called Law makers too are Homosexual,,,bi-sexual,,lesbians........they pay pple to com and gv them Good blow job......HYPOCRITS........Mtcheww
ReplyDeleteDear gays,or anyone in homosexual relationship. U can move to any country in the world that condone and accept you but Nigeria should never be the place for some act to be celebrated because it is absurd. we have cultures and values as a country.
ReplyDeleteAn please if anyone has the number of the senator that brought out that idea please post it for me..i think i can talk sense into him
LOL, Odiegwu!
ReplyDeleteWOW LINDA!! As much as you want to believe you don't care about other people's sexual preference, you're clearly homophobic. I mean if you don't care, why should the fact that they want to get married affect you? Why should they have to "do themselves behind closed doors"--whatever that means? And maybe issues like these SHOULD be considered in a "third world country", perhaps from their we'll start learning how to address other basic human rights. Just like a heterosexual couple would fall in love and get married, why should homosexuals have to hide their relationship and not make it legit?
ReplyDeleteI actually want someone to answer this question, and not use religion to attack me. Why is homosexual MARRIAGE such a bad thing?
you say u have nothing against gay ppl why then do u have a problem with them getting married linda, you seem lost on your stand...........
ReplyDeletewell for me there IS a problem with gays in the first place not to even speak of their marriage all we need is prayers so that they will step out of their blindness
Just because a relationship is "consensual adult", it should "not be punished"? The same pseudo-rationale could support bestiality, you know, as long as the animal "consents". And that bit about "love", what a twisting of words, a crass attempt to reframe the debate and position their opponents as enemies of "love". Don't get me wrong, I'm an open-minded guy, but homosexual activists keep engaging in manipulative tactics rather then good ol' fashioned reasoning by deductive logic from factual premises.
ReplyDeleteSo the assumed if they have a "doctor" spoke-person, it will lend them credence? And the cheif point is brain drain??? ilaugh! You people should go ooo. All the straight people in the country have №† done tilted us in the right direction then it's Sodomites? Go, let there be job opportunity for others.
ReplyDeleteAs though we don't have enough issues.
BITE ME!
dem day kolo...walahi
ReplyDeleteThis is what really irks me about this Naija, the post before this shows our children, "the future of Nigeria" and the school dt they presently attend in this day and age. Naija is a third world country with very big issues, greedy and visionless leadership being one of them. And some people want to waste the time paid for by the people's money to debate something as trivial as this?
ReplyDeleteHow about the brain drain being caused by "the frustrating state of things in this country"?
Abeg, make i hear word jor! Shior!
Naija and follow follow, they must sha copy everything they see.
ReplyDeleteSoon Oyibo go begin marry their dogs, and Naija go copy dt one add!!!
Last time i checked, it doesnt snow here, so please, let us not throw away the only thing we have left, let us preserve who we are and stop adopting nonsense from the lost souls of this world.
Like our fore fathers would say....ALU o!!!!
Like the bible would say....abomination!!!!
Amen!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not gay, dont discriminate either but truth be said, Evil has Power. Do not be surprised that for this country to gain some international recognition or solicit for foreign aid, a requirement will be to sanction same sex marriage under the guise of respecting your citizens sexual preference.
ReplyDeleteI just pray it wont be in my lifetime but I think it will happen. Staff of multinational companies have being known to go around stating they are gay or lesbians, so this is mildly happening.
Pls Linda post my comment nah. Wetin I do you
Amen o!!!
ReplyDeleteNigeria has 1001 problems and legalizing homosexuality aint one of them. The west needs to stay out of other people's buisness and nigerians need to stand their ground. Polygamy is serious crime in the west but it's part of our culture here. Do you see us fighting the west to legalize polygamy in their own coutries?! No! They have their values and beliefs and we have ours. They are not the authority on morals and value systems.
ReplyDeleteWhen we go to work and school abroad we have to respect their laws( even the ones that trample on our rights), yet they think they can come as expatriates and impose their own lifestyles and values on others. Yes , nigeria is a corrupt country and yes we know poeple get up to all kinds of craziness. But does one deviance justify another? Do you tell a thief it's ok to be a murderer cos he already steals and sin is sin? i think not
there is nothing good about homosexuality. You think heterosexuals are perverse? they're saints for the most parts compared to one a lot of homosexuals get up to: waiting around in public toilets for fellow perverts they can sodomise, raping little boys,... I live in france so i can talking about.
A guy i know was almost raped by a gang of grown ass men. There had a group meeting at one of their houses and the my guy(x) was invited. X is black african tey guys whoo invited him were white. twas spposed to be a buisness meeting. When they got to the house one of them started making advances at him. My friend startled jumped up and made for the door.
The guys grabbed him and tried to force themselves on him. he fought for his life and made away with a couple of broken ribs. The two men were actually part of a gay coalition at church (x) fightitng for the right for gays to hold leadership positions in the church.
And that was not an isolated incident. Homosexuals like to paint themselves as innocents victims, yet a good number are pedophiles. yeah i said it! they love little boys. They even have an association call the National association of man boy love (NAMBLA) you can google it.
is this what we want? there enough pervesion in nigeria as it is; do we really need to add fuel to a raging fire.
Let us not underestimate the power of suggestion. when these homosexuals strat walking around boldly pushing their crap in people's faces, young men are women will start thinking a perverse and unhealthy lifestyle is normal. Think about your kids. Yes nobody's perfect but that doesn't mean moral depravity should be legalized!
And just for the record, I do not support violence of any type against anyone, gay or straight...well for corrupt naija politicians maybe:)
sassycassie
NO TO LEGALIZED GAY MARRIAGE IN NIGERIA. NO TO ANIMALISTIC TENDENCIES. NO TO PAEDOPHILIA,BEASTIALITY,HOMOSEXUALITY,INCEST AND ALL THOSE SEXUAL ILLS.
ReplyDeleteHOW CAN ANY SANE PERSON DEFEND THESE PERVERTED ACTS?????? We don't want to see, save us the agony PLEASE. MOVE TO ANOTHER PLANET!
The marriage institution between man and woman is ordained by GOD ALMIGHTY. where on earth does homosexuality come from and how does it fit in. Can they procreate? Any faggot in the house to explain?
ReplyDeleteLinda, why? I have always always respected you until today. Shame.
ReplyDeleteWhat's really irritating to me is that you would say, "I'm not homophobic but..." then spew your homophobic beliefs. At least man up and own your beliefs instead of faking like you are open minded and tolerant.
Regardless of what your personal beliefs are, there is NO reason why everyone should not be allowed to freely choose how they want to live. We all know premarital sex is un-Christian. So how about we also make that illegal? We could make it a felony- 10 years, no possibility of parole? Sound good? Ha. I wonder where all of you "Christians" would be?
At the end of the day, it is their choice. On judgment day, they would face their own music. None of you would have to do it for them. (Besides, you will probably all be preoccupied with coming up with explanations for why you slept with married men for money, your boyfriend for fun and that other dude that one time just because.)
I for one don't care who gets married to who. If gay people want to get married let them, it does not affect my life in any way, shape or form. However, I do agree with your point that there are a million and ten problems in Nigeria that need Legislation and gay marriage (or any marriage for that matter) is not one of them.
ReplyDeleteSorry ooo, but don't those law makers have nothing better to be debating on. I mean Boko Haram, Armed Robbers stealing in BROAD DAY LIGHT in PORT HARCOURT should be something worth reading a riot act on and seeing how to eradicate such menace than to be seeing discussing something as irritating same-sex marriage. This is a not a matter of I have nothing wrong with them doing it in their closet, it is everything wrong.....and those that are practising it should be sent to a psychiatric home for questioning. That doctor Obi....whatever should be ashamed of himself of even coming out to be reading such a speech if he wants to marry a man, there are many cities in America he can do that comfortably than to come to Naija that people have not seen light for the past 3 months to be telling them that he wants to be allowed to be with a man publicly. Linda, I dey vex........
ReplyDelete@Temi...wanna know why people of same sex shouldn't get married? because they can't produce offspring. if u want same sex marriages approved, the next is they'll come asking for the right to adopt the offspring of the heterosexuals. the day two gays or two lesbians can successfully make a baby without any input from the opposite sex (spermatozoa or ova), then they can receive the legal rights and freedom to such r/ships. so i don't need any religious grounds to 'attack' u.
ReplyDelete@Paul S...u are on point! even if the r/ship or act is consensual, it doesn't make it legal. imagine a woman 'going at it' with a dog or a horse, or a man with a donkey. technically, both parties consented to it, and they (seemingly) have the right to, but the proponents of same sex r/ships would scream 'eeeeeewwwwwwww' calling it 'abomicountry'
all the people wey dey ask for this same sex nonsense ba, una head need serious washing and setting!!!!
**ahkme
Am surprised Linda is so candid about her opinion on this matter. These days, it's almost a crime to say u r not in support of homosexuality and gay marriage.
ReplyDeletesha, i know e go hard well well for them to get what they r asking for. as in, we r still battling with things like violence against women, child right, etc. these r things you'd think wouldn't be an issue 4 us, but it is.
And yes homosexuality is a choice!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy do people choose it? an experience, some kind of molestation when they were young, a kind of early homosexual experience , a need for intimacy and an inability to connect with the opposite sex. The developing sub-culture certainly makes it acceptable and sucks in many. There's tons of reasons. Why do people get hooked on adultery? Why do people get drawn into pornography? why has fornication become so commonplace?why do pedophiles do what they do? why do people become junkies. Choices, Choices, Choices.
Everyday we are faced with choices. some easy, others difficult.but our chracter and lifetyles are determined by the choices we make.

ReplyDeletePedophiles want same rights as homosexuals
ReplyDelete–
Using the same tactics used by “gay” rights activists, pedophiles have begun to seek similar status arguing their desire for children is a sexual orientation no different than heterosexual or homosexuals.
Critics of the homosexual lifestyle have long claimed that once it became acceptable to identify homosexuality as simply an “alternative lifestyle” or sexual orientation, logically nothing would be off limits. “Gay” advocates have taken offense at such a position insisting this would never happen.
However, psychiatrists are now beginning to advocate redefining pedophilia in the same way homosexuality was redefined several years ago.
In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality from its list of mental disorders. A group of psychiatrists with B4U-Act recently held a symposium proposing a new definition of pedophilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders of the APA.
B4U-Act calls pedophiles “minor-attracted people.” The organization's website states its purpose is to, “help mental health professionals learn more about attraction to minors and to consider the effects of stereotyping, stigma and fear.”
In 1998 The APA issued a report claiming “that the ‘negative potential’ of adult sex with children was ‘overstated’ and that ‘the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from childhood sexual abuse experiences.”
Pedophilia has already been granted protected status by the Federal Government. The Matthew Shephard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act lists “sexual orientation” as a protected class; however, it does not define the term.
Republicans attempted to add an amendment specifying that “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation;” however, the amendment was defeated by Democrats. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fl) stated that all alternative sexual lifestyles should be protected under the law. “This bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice and to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability or all of these ‘philias’ and fetishes and ‘isms’ that were put forward need not live in fear because of who they are. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this rule.”
The White House praised the bill saying, “At root, this isn't just about our laws; this is about who we are as a people. This is about whether we value one another -- whether we embrace our differences rather than allowing them to become a source of animus.”
Earlier this year two psychologists in Canada declared that pedophilia is a sexual orientation just like homosexuality or heterosexuality.
Van Gijseghem, psychologist and retired professor of the University of Montreal, told members of Parliament, "Pedophiles are not simply people who commit a small offense from time to time but rather are grappling with what is equivalent to a sexual orientation just like another individual may be grappling with heterosexuality or even homosexuality."
He went on to say, "True pedophiles have an exclusive preference for children, which is the same as having a sexual orientation. You cannot change this person’s sexual orientation. He may, however, remain abstinent."
When asked if he should be comparing pedophiles to homosexuals, Van Gijseghem replied, "If, for instance, you were living in a society where heterosexuality is proscribed or prohibited and you were told that you had to get therapy to change your sexual orientation, you would probably say that that is slightly crazy. In other words, you would not accept that at all. I use this analogy to say that, yes indeed, pedophiles do not change their sexual orientation.”
ReplyDeleteDr. Quinsey, professor emeritus of psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, agreed with Van Gijseghem. Quinsey said pedophiles' sexual interests prefer children and, "There is no evidence that this sort of preference can be changed through treatment or through anything else."
In July, 2010 Harvard health Publications said, “Pedophilia is a sexual orientation and unlikely to change. Treatment aims to enable someone to resist acting on his sexual urges."
Linda Harvey, of Mission America, said the push for pedophiles to have equal rights will become more and more common as LGBT groups continue to assert themselves. “It’s all part of a plan to introduce sex to children at younger and younger ages; to convince them that normal friendship is actually a sexual attraction.”
Milton Diamond, a University of Hawaii professor and director of the Pacific Center for Sex and Society, stated that child pornography could be beneficial to society because, "Potential sex offenders use child pornography as a substitute for sex against children."
Diamond is a distinguished lecturer for the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco. The IASHS openly advocated for the repeal of the Revolutionary war ban on homosexuals serving in the military.
The IASHS lists, on its website, a list of "basic sexual rights" that includes "the right to engage in sexual acts or activities of any kind whatsoever, providing they do not involve nonconsensual acts, violence, constraint, coercion or fraud."
Another right is to, "be free of persecution, condemnation, discrimination, or societal intervention in private sexual behavior" and "the freedom of any sexual thought, fantasy or desire." The organization also says that no one should be "disadvantaged because of age."
When you open a pandora's box, be prepared!!

at times like this, one actually sympathises with boko haram. instead of our politicians to focus on more pressing issues, precious time is being wasted on debating whether people should be marrying the same sex. such rubbish
ReplyDelete@ Temi the christian belief is very valid here; but for ur sake lets argue outside dat...even if u dont follow any religion, say u're a scientist or atheist... u would at least agree that everything dat exists on earth (matter) has its opposite(anti-matter)for a reason. In an ideal setting it is largely for transformation/regeneration or continuity whichever u choose- now in relation to marriage dis is also one of the most important premise for the family unit which u would agree is created by marriage.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, I understand my knowledge is isn't all emcompassing, but I haven't come across gay plants or animals in d wild, have u? from where I stand again dat is nature trying to show us dat some plants r wiser dan we human sometimes.. There is always going to be a consequence for reversing natural orders, from social impacts to,geographic (as we're now seeing), n more...but I guess we're too blind to see it a-midst the blindness created by our short sighted vision.
There will be many arguments for n against gay marriages, who is or isn't, d hypocrisy behind it all, n more yarns after dat- but 1 thing is simple n explains my point-there is nothing more disgusting dan Elton John waking up in Old age to go hunting for a child cos of a choice he made dat excluded him frm dat privilege even though he was given d right of marriage... dats one little example but I aint got all day...gotta run now! xoxo!
They make my skin crawl. if these are the best brains in the country, they can all emigrate. We don't need them Tufiakwa!! Never thought I'll see the day this will happen in 9ja.
ReplyDeleteO @ Temi I forgot to add-----@Gird your Loins@ n it shall be well wit u! ciao...
ReplyDeletePlease, can this senate debate on who to sack in phcn, the countries that tolerate gays all have good roads, electricity etc. please Mr senator am sure if you said u are in support of gays you would not have been elected because nobody except your gay partner wold have voted for you. plsssss we need lightttttttt!!!!!! that is an emergency thank you!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous (November 3, 2011 10:06 AM)
ReplyDelete>wanna know why people of same sex shouldn't get married? because they can't produce offspring
Your argument is very weak. On that basis, a man and a woman who cannot produce offspring (impotency, barrenness, etc) shouldn't get married, right?
Children has nothing to do with marriage, and neither does your religion. Marriage as currently defined in law is a contract between a man and a woman.
Don't diffuse the central point with your subjective references to the moral dictates of your religion. The last time I checked, Nigeria is a secular state and for all our sanity, it SHOULD be kept that way.
We Nigerians, Christians, Muslims, etc, should learn to practice our religion in our homes, places of worship and lives without imposing our subjective interpretations of divine law on other citizens, schools, offices, and most importantly the Constitution.
I'm a religious person but I know where to draw the line.
Let them sit there in Senate debating same sex marriage until Boko Haram blows this country apart and people are afraid to step outside for fear of being kidnapped or robbed. Let them sit there while men scale the roofs of secondary schools and rape 15 year old children and women get raped and get accused for "tempting men" to rape them. Let them "criminalize" gay marriage so that retarded, bored, and senseless people have a new reason to go about killing other Nigerians for their sexual preference and hide under the law and pretend that they haven't committed sin themselves by murdering people. Nonsense. I don't know if I will ever understand homosexuality but I know enough about this country to know that this kind of thing will only allow radicals to go nuts and embark on a killing spree. We have no electricity, no water, high rates of robbery, battery, paedophelia, and rape all ignored, but let's forget all that. Same sex marriage is the important issue here *hiss*
ReplyDeletePLs you people should leave Linda alone, she is clearly entitled to her opinion. I will gladly say i am Homophobic, its is an UnGodly act please! Don't be fooled! Human beings can never seem to be statisfied before you know it, they would want to legalise human- animal marriage...smh! It is unatural what kind of society will it become, its already bad as it is! Repent pls! Take it or leave it, i have said my mind....
ReplyDeleteThere is no justification for homosexuality. In Legal philosophy, there is something known as Natural Law - the laws of God made for Man to abide by and which are discernable in nature. The anus is clearly not designed for sexual penetration . . .
ReplyDeleteIf homosexuals admit they have a problem and then go on to get therapy or something, I could live with that - but chanting for gay rights? Obviously sickos at work . . . I dont care what they do in their homes - just keep that shit out of public view. Next thing, they would be adopting kids and defiling them on code.
Even if yall insist on being gay, why cant you remain mere lovers (I cringed a bit here)? Oh, you must marry too abi? To what end - certainly not reproduction.
dis country has bigger n more pressing issues than legalising same sex marraiges! 1 thn @ a tym! water, electricity, housing, education for starters!
ReplyDeleteDiary of an ex-gay man: a ex gays struggle for sexual wholeness and healing from past hurts
ReplyDeletehttp://pfox.org/diary_exgay_man.html
Dear reader,
My name is Jake. I’m an ex-gay man in my 20’s from England. This diary is for all those who are opposed to the idea of change in sexual orientation.
Experts have been researching sexuality for decades. They tell us sexuality is a changing and fluidic entity in many people. Data shows that sexual feelings can vary over the course of a lifetime. The statistically proven fact is that many people change their sexual orientation. I am one of those persons.
I don’t feel very sexually attracted to men anymore; I now find girls much more attractive.
At one time, I did not. Now, I do.
At one time on lonely nights I fell asleep imagining myself cuddled up with another man; now I can only imagine myself with a feminine girl.
Some people are uncomfortable with this fact. They are so insecure with their own sexuality that they cannot accept that some people no longer share their feelings.
They’re more than happy to see people turn gay, but they don’t like it happening the other way around. Sometimes men like myself are called hate-mongers. Simply because I don’t want to have sex with men anymore!
Would they like me to keep quiet about my sexuality change, to “live a lie” and deny that anything happened? The answer seems to be yes! They wish to silence me, deny me the right to live my life as I choose, and would like to force me to lead a lifestyle that they think is right!
Not only am I not gay anymore, but I'm happier too. I will lead my life the way I choose to lead it - not the way anyone else tells me to. I chose to change my sexuality. And it worked.
To quote the gay rights protesters,
I’m here,
I’m no longer queer,
GET USED TO IT!
Signed,
Jake

So now emigration is cause by people of the same sex not being allowed to marry and NOT by lack of resources, jobs, educational opportunities, medical care etc? Those were the reasons people of my father's general left and why people leave today.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard any Nigerian say they left Nigeria because they were gay and couldn't be themselves. This is a new reasoning for me o, sha, the wan who dey wear the shoe, na him sabi where e dey pinch am.
@ Temi, Whats wrong with Man Dog marriage, Man Cat marriage, Man Goat marriage? Why don't we eat our pooh? If you can give an honest answer to these questions, then you will figure out whats wrong with same sex marriage.
ReplyDeleteAs one wise man once said,"If God don't act and act soon, then he owes Soddom and Gommorah an apology"
ReplyDeleteno wonder im still single>
ReplyDeleteOk all the ignorance coming in the comments have irritated me to the core!Under normal circumstances, I do not write down comments on blogs but now i need to talk.
ReplyDeleteThis comment is mostly directed at that ignorant person who said that homosexuality/bisexuality is a choice. I wonder where you got such BULLSHIT from. how d hell do you choose who you love??!...and do you think WE choose to just look at the same sex and say..damn...m going to sleep with this one today?..how foolish of you. Look, I am a bisexual woman....i know this because I have liked girls since I was young..but NEVER have I practiced the act with a girl...not because I can not, or I have not had the chance, but because I know it is wrong. Do you think that is easy?..imagine being straight was wrong and you can never be with someone of the opposite sex but the urges are there...All I am trying to say is that, the only choice made is to ACT on the feelings and not to BE bisexual or homosexual.
Also, I will like to add that I also dont believe in same sex marriage. even if i fall under this bracket. It is very very wrong. That is the truth.
You guys need to be more open minded and stop damning us...we go through so much hate already and most of us can't help who we are. Well, I am pretty sure I will be judged by this comment...Typical.
Deuces.
To some of you that have crucified Linda for writing and saying her mind, you should all bear it in mind that she is also entitled to her own opinion like the rest of you.
ReplyDeleteAll i know is that Nigerians are very Godly people, be it Christians or Muslims so therefore we can hardly talk about Gay rights and not refer to God!Pronto.

ReplyDeleteJust because someone has urges for something doesn't mean those urges should be accepted. A pedophile who has urges to sleep with little girls that does not get help to rid himself of those urges, will eventually act on the urges. Our thoughts eventually become our habits. What people who are struggling with such urges need to do is ask for help. Not say they want to remain the way they are because they have good intentions.
please please please abeg!!! for those who are supporting this evil act are u trying to tell me that God who created adam and eve did not know wot he was doing???pls think before u comment...which one be men ve the rights to marry each other....we are africans abeg ooo and such rubbish will not be tolerated in this country.......

ReplyDeleteLinda, we know that Nigeria is filled with stupid problems but the term 'third world' is derogatory and demeaning imposed on us to accept by a group of fools that call themselves 'first world'. This line of thinking should not be enabled, however we should get the crazy leaders of ours out and put in exposed and educated women and men to lead us unto collective prosperity
ReplyDeleteDJ, thank you oh. Marriage is not about having children abeg. There are heterosexual couples that get married and don't want children, same with homosexual couples. There are also heterosexual couples that do want children and can't have them except through adoption or other means, same with homosexual couples.
ReplyDeleteAda, how on earth would you know whether a plant or animal is gay though? What does that have to do with gay marriage sef?
Charles, are you really comparing fellow human beings to animals? *sigh*
i think homosexuality is just Sick. Sodomites will get whats coming to them
ReplyDelete...the truth is that many many many people who have read this and commented against the whole homosexual thing have actually practised gay stuff at some point in their lives....in fact, the more vehement one sounds about it, check it well, the more they may have something to hide....
ReplyDeletethe real question for me is: what difference does it make whether or not such a tepid bill is passed anyway.....the fact that it is currently not legitimate hasn't stopped anything at all....the gay people in fact are getting stronger and bolder by the day......nothing to do with Naija, it is just a big sign of the end times in the entire world.....
Linda you are confused.... they can carry along with their sex but not get married? Pick a side abeg. Your politics won't work in this situation. Or you can decide not to say anything. You cant be swinging both ways. Are u Tarzan?
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me that people are comparing sexual relations with another willing human being to beastiality. Are you serious? And for the ones saying that gays shouldn't marry 'cos they can't have children, I guess barren women and impotent men are doomed in the same category isn't it? Parents who adopt are shameless in their search innit?
ReplyDeleteThe sheer ignorance of some of you.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this, I was like what the hell? We are a third world country for crying out loud, battling to legalize same-sex marriage is no where going to help our economy...Have we lost our sanity?
ReplyDeletethis is so wrong. i agree with linda. they can do their thing in hidden but God forbid that we legalize such
ReplyDeleteThe bible clearly states that it is sinful for "Men who have sexual relations with other men" 1 Cor 6:10
ReplyDeleteI am baffled by the comments above. Comparing Homosexuality to Paedophilia is sickening: it is like comparing heterosexuality to rape. One has mutual consent while the other is forced barbarism.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad how people make rash judgement.
A lot of you have been "rejecting in jesus name"... Can I go as far as to tell you that when our forefathers were calling for the abolition of slavery, inter-racial dating, and equal rights for blacks, whites and christians alike were also "rejecting in Jesus name".
It is so sad... Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice for all.
How dare you, Linda, reduce another human being by saying "They can do themselves behind close doors, or date openly, that's their business, but MARRIAGE? No way in hell should that be allowed in this country."
Who made you the judge over someone else? You seem to have forgotten that years ago and even till now, people fought for the right of women, and ignorant folk like yourself said " Women can talk all they want, they can dream or even talk about their dreams openly but their place is in the kitchen! No way in Hell will I let Women rise to Men in my country."
The Jesus you serve never dehumanized anyone. He accepted the prostitute, the unbelieving, the sick and the free.
How ironic.
Linda nothing do you. Honestly, i think nowadays when people voice their opinions about homosexuality without even having violence in mind, they are seen as homophobic. If you want to be homosexual, go ahead but pls let others also oppose it if they want. ah ah
ReplyDeleteImagine if everyone was homosexual? In fact, we would all either be all men or all women. There was a reason man and woman was created. shikena.
And if you feel it is not a choice or a matter of self control, the fact that a man is so aroused and wants to have sex doesn't mean it's right to rape a girl. self control is the key. sin is sin. God knows our weaknesses and his Spirit is there to help us but we have to be willing. It's called self control. Not acting on your whims.
And if you think it's not your business whether the law is passed or not, 2moro when your child says he/she is gay then you'll understand.
And pls nobody should talk about adultery. before werent people voicing out about it? even till now? but it has become so rampant that people dont speak anymore and that doesnt mean its not wrong. i know very soon sha this homosexuality of a thing will be no big deal. but God is watching...
@keji mind u BEASTIALITY is compared to homosexuality because they are EVIL that involve sex not that we don't know that BEASTIALITY is about humans and sometimes seemingly consenting animals.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, infertile heterosexual couples can adopt a child produced heterosexually.homosexuals should get their own from their type and leave heterosexually produced children out of their pervasion.
keji what are talking about?abi your one of those lost gay folks?
ReplyDelete@November 3, 2011 5:25 PM i totally agree with when u say it has nothing to do with naija but rather another guarantee that things r now getting completely out of hand indicating the close return of Christ. But i disagree when you said " many people who have read this and commented have actually practised gay stuff at some point in their live'' No.
ReplyDelete@anon nov 3 3.18 you said your bi....I say you need to accept Jesus before he returns. Not trying to sound hateful but my father above has made it known in His words that no one is born attracted to their same sex(just the same way no one is born a pedo, rapist, thief etc) IT'S SIMPLY A LIE FROM SATAN USED TO ROB GOD'S CHILDREN FROM ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9
p.s to those cursing gays and lesbians(e.g anon 4.27), are you walking in love like Jesus has told us to when you abuse gays?we should all remember homosexuality is NOT the only sin. The Bible clearly talk against premarital sex, fornicators, drunkards and thieves .... so rather than bash homosexuals ensure you yourself are not committing these other forms of sins that makes you no better than a gay
@frani, i joined dis blog because of. U really got my attention. You've got a STYLE. I'll love to knw you. Labishycode@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteNa wa, see people writing epistles as comments. Oya, let me add my own epistle..hehehe...
ReplyDeleteThere are people dying of hunger, diseases and poverty in Nigeria, and this is an issue??? Corruption is choking our system, Boko Haram is running amok, and this is an issue???
Priorities people, priorities! Let us solve the bigger issues in our society first before our private bedroom preferences. Social, economic and cultural rights should come before civil and political rights in a third-world country that has one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world and where too many people live in poverty. When we have solved those issues, we can tackled freedom of sexual expression/ identity. Don't jump the gun mis amigos, Nigeria has not reached that stage yet.
@Charles as at the time of Sodom and Gomorrah there was no Jesus...now humanity is blessed to have Jesus who makes us worthy no matter how bad we are, we were and are gonna be.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray for these gay people, on Judgement day God would ask You who know this is wrong what you did to show them the way. so would you now say you likened them to dogs/beasts or asked for fire and brimstone to burn them to ashes?
Do you know the truth? Have you seen the light? Spread it and show it through love and not aggression and insults. Hate the sin not the sinner.
Why is it that GAY topic on this blog, generate loads of comment? Make una go check una self out oh! lol...
ReplyDeleteAbi una all be TIBI?
@anonymous nov 4, 2011 6:56am
ReplyDeleteYour comment is the most stupid I've ever heard.. Self Control really? Let me ask you, are you married or planning on marrying? Why dont you control yourself so you never have sex in your life, maybe Gods spirit will help you?
besides, Why do you think they want to marry? Because some of them have the maturity to see that sex outside of marriage is empty. They are dedicating themselves to one another for better or for worse, just like any straight couple with morals will do.
Its not who is getting marrried, it is the intent behind getting married that makes marriage a sacred act: because you are vowing to stand beside your partner till death do you part.
It is also idiots like you that would disown their kids for standing up for jews in the anti-semetic era because "the law said so"
Ode oshi.
I really don't understand y many people judge others like they are innocent. Many of you judging gays here, are definitely gays. I am straight, but i know i do have feelings for women atimes. What i dont do is practise it because i know it's wrong. If someone else wants to act on hers, i cant judge the person
ReplyDeleteSODOM & GOMORRAH? Pls, someone suld open up d bible n remind me of the SINS they committed. PLSSSSS people, it wasn't only lesbianism n homosexualism. Fornication, adultery etc was also there. So, everyone here is a SODOMITE!
All thesame, i dont have a say in its legalisation (cos i wont do it). But stop treating those doing it like they have a plague cos u may not know wat they are going thru.
ATTN Linda!
ReplyDeleteYour rhetoric is confusing but I know why... deep inside, you still wrestle with the fact that all human beings are equal regardless of their sexual orientations. A harmless, consensual arrangement between two adult human beings to spend their lives together as a couple must be respected if you sincerely believe in a free society.
Quick question, Linda. Do we ALL smoke simply because smoking is legal and available to all or have we all been diagnosed of Diabetes just because sugar (an abundance of it in fact) is readily available to us all?! Your answer I'm sure would be a resounding "NO"! And mind you, these are habits and have little, if any to do with genetics! This makes your homophobic paranoia baseless, with due respect.
Get on the right side of history people. I assure you, all this homophobia would become as ridiculous as those who justified the Slave Trade and White Supremacy earlier on in our history!
Oya back to Boko Haram!
Dimeji
SHAME ON ALL OF YOU IN SUPPORT OF SAME SEX MARRIAGE...MORAL DECADENCE!!!
ReplyDelete@kourt If you spent time meditating on the word you should know that Jesus died on the cross for everyone one of us bearing our sins so that we will no longer be 'SODOMITES'(2 Corinthians 5:21) .
ReplyDelete''I am straight, but i know i do have feelings for women atimes. What i dont do is practise it because i know it's wrong''.......
Having an abnormal feeling in your heart for someone of the same sex is as wrong as practicing it(Matthew 5:28,Matthew 15:18-20,James1:14-15). You wouldn't be having them when you accept Jesus and walk with the Holy spirit(Romans 12:1-2)God bless.
Please spare me all this talk about christian values! I am not saying Homosexuality is good neither am i saying its bad. How about all the polygamist in our country? Young girls with many sugar daddies, guys fating 3 or 4 girls together! people who have sex before marriage, people who have children out of wedlock, are we going to make these illegal? They are all sinful in the eyes of GOD!!! So why make homosexuals the scape goat??? And please don't get me started on "ITS NOT PART OF OUR AFRICAN CULTURE" or "POLYGAMY IS PART OF A CULTURE! Is Christianity part of our african culture? So why are we practicing it? Are jeans, T-shirts,suit & tie, pizza,,k computer games, blackberry, lipstick, Armani shoes e.t.c part of African culture????Why not go to a herbalist in the village for treatment rather than a doctor when you are ill so you can stay true to your AFRICAN CULTURE? If you want to ban homosexuality then ban polygamy, set before marriage, abortion, multiple partners, cheating, divorce and all others

ReplyDeleteTaink you, jire. You do well, @Anonymous Nov. 5 2011 4:18
ReplyDeleteYou are like one of the only ones that have common sense here...
People who are willing to look beneath the surface of things will realize that there are western influences prodding them on. I am just sick of Africans living like pawns. Anything that comes from the West is always fashionable to Africans. We don't even have enough selfworth to be selective. Homosexuality is abnormal. Nature is not the author of confusion. You can not be born with male genitals and yet be destined to live like a woman and say this is how I feel. Now the stones will come. There are those who will resort to emotional blackmail and call me "homophobic". But if you disagree with me, I won't call "heterophobic". We have bigger problems in Nigeria that have been on the queue for decades, desperately in need of attention. And instead we bring this to the fore ???? C'mon! We fail to see the bigger picture. There are problems that will come with legalized homosexuality. Are we ready for those problems? Abeg make we drop did matter o!
ReplyDelete"A guy i know was almost raped by a gang of grown ass men. There had a group meeting at one of their houses and the my guy(x) was invited. X is black african tey guys whoo invited him were white. twas spposed to be a buisness meeting. When they got to the house one of them started making advances at him. My friend startled jumped up and made for the door.
ReplyDeleteThe guys grabbed him and tried to force themselves on him. he fought for his life and made away with a couple of broken ribs."
You see what I am talking about!!!I even heard of a sales girl that was raped by her boss' friend. Once this is legalized, men will not be safe around men and women will no longer be safe around women. And parents will be scared of leaving their kids with a same-sex adult minder for fear of sexual abuse. Do you see all the inherent complications. I don't advocate violence against anyone. That's unlawful. But legalizing homosexuality in Nigeria is the epitome of insanity. The West knows that most Africans are poor and vulnerable and they will stop at nothing to finance this war against our heterosexual commitments. And they are slowly gaining grounds. Yes there are some homosexuals and lesbians in government but a lot of them don't come out because they are not proud of the lifestyle. We're slowly being brainwashed by the western media and it's just a matter of time before all hell breaks loose! Got to keep staying in Jesus' good books so I can take my flight before it does. I rest my case.
