D'Banj and Don Jazzy: Generous Men

Don Jazzy is giving N500, 000 of his personal money to the Most Intelligent Nigerian Student. Any student in any Nigerian University who writes the best essay on the topic - The role of music in entertainment in Nigeria - gets N500k cash from the top producer. The essay competition is being put together by Dynamix Magazine and the winner will receive the prize at the Dynamix All Youths Award taking place next month. I hear he's pledged to continue giving out 500k to one lucky student every year.

D'Banj on his part gave out over 200k of his personal cash to students of University of Lagos when he went there to perform early this month for the GT Bank show. He held a small dance competition on stage and gave the winner 200k. Other contestants were also given some cash.

Nice way to give back!

  8. Linda,I would personally appreciate if u will be posting issues of this nature about our actors, actresses and artists etc as against telling the youth that so so and so bought the latest range rover or Bentley etc don't think u helping Nigerian youths in that way and more so I can't figure out any value that the knowledge of such news will add to the life of your readers.our society is already corrupt and the mindset of most youths is already warped wen u post issues of these people "living large" it could send the wrong message to some of ur readers especially when such readers can't figure out where such an artist could have gotten such a huge amount of money to acquire such luxury. The average Nigerian youth wants money and will most likely do anything to get it pls don't encourage them by making it seem like acquiring luxuries means fulfillment in life and that the ultimate thing they should strive for.Instead, try to celebrate hard work, innovation, people of intellects, people that are taking giant strides to make our society better, inform us of people adding value to the life of the common man (as u just did) no matter ow small/big their contribution is.Am not against those acquiring luxuries in anyway but we all know dat in our society it is d norm for majority of artist/actor to av a single legal means of income and numerous illegal/immoral ones. Concerning this issue at hand,u could go a step further by posting the name of the winner and his/her pix that alone could be a source of inspiration to some other reader.Help the Nigerian youth please I beg U.Thumbs up to Don Jazzy and D'Bang...U guys should keep it up.

  10. hmmn shey all of u now want to eat their money abi? i dont know why nigerians are selfish and self centred! when dbanj bought his car all of u were the ones opening ur mouths to say he should have given bck to the society instead of buying an expensive car! do you guys suffer to make the money with him? i guess the answer is no, so why tell him how to spend the money he suffered to earn? its his bloody money and he can spend it how he desires! dbanj and don jazzy Godbless u guys for giving back to the society but i can tell u dat u r not obliged to do so! if u feel like then do it dont listen to all this people that were not there wen u were suffering to make the money!

  11. Thats a very nice gesture from them.......God bless u guyz,,,

@Grace,,,,,what's ur ranting all about???dis is a public site where everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.......some condemned D-banj for buying a new car,,while some didnt......so how has that become a reference point to the above topic??

  12. @sleekreek Thank God you said that this is a public site and everyone is entitled to their opinion cos i just said mine :) btw my comment relates to the article because people criticized dbanj in a former post cos he bought a car with his own money, now everyone has seen he gives back to the society. My point is this should he buy a new car next time no one should complain or criticize him!

  14. As much as this is a nice gesture, this competition should be geared towards High School and Elementary students. Asking University students to write an essay of this nature is simply appalling! Rather they should be motivated to participate in more intellectually stimulating and challenging essay competitions not "the role of music in entertainment" long hiss! Shaa I do give kudos where it's due so kudos to D'Banj and Don Jazzy for taking the initiative.
