  7. Well deserved but is this what Nigeria needs right now?
we need to focus more on her situation and deal with it rather than entertainment all the way!

  8. i have nothing against them being awarded national honours but...the way Goddluck j hands out this honours (like agege bread)no wonder chinua Achebe declined

  12. IN AS MUCH AS THESE ARTIST AV MADE AN IMPACT IN NOLLYWOOD N NIGERIA GENERALLY,I STILL FEEL A NATIONAL AWARD IS WAY TOO AMBIGUOUS .

SOMEONE SENT THIS BROADCAST TO ME N I SO AGREE WT IT:In 45 yrs, Nigeria has given out ova 4000 national awards. D US whom we copied from has given out 105 in over 100yrs...what a shame. Let's compare the numbers of professors this two countries has produced independently, I mean independently.

  13. Ridicule of an award ceremony. What were the criterion for selection? I saw the list of awardees and it's really sad when you have corrupt past and present public offers receiving awards. God help our country and give us courage to help ourselves.

  14. all these money spent on awards, could have been better utilised by mending our social infrastructures. I wonder o, we need a government with right priorities not misplaced one.

  15. None, i dont know why they Honoured them.

  20. The essence of national award is to appreciate good men and their positive contributions to both national and human development.
Now, I think with their movies, some of our Nollywood stars have made a mark across Africa and beyond, and are being recognized for their works. Now, that's a boost to our still-growing-Nollywood.

  21. Linda,don't start,they truly deserve it.

  22. My Comment?

I think Goodluck is jobless! Instead of him to sit somewhere and concentrate on putting an end to Boko Haram brutality and armed robbery and the newly growing trend of kidnapping, he is giving marginally talented media whores some useless plastic/wooden awards... Feed all the families in Ajegunle... then take pictures and I'll appluad! Hissssss

  30. this president seems to be in way over his head...handing out frivolous awards to frivolous people...genevieve i understand but stephanie okereke..i really do not!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. they should have all protested like professor Achebe, I have no respect for any of these people, they are all commending corruption and what is wrong with naija by accepting the award, and no none of them truly deserved it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am sorry, but what are they receiving a national award for again? What has Genny done apart from attending parties in every nook & cranny??? Did she set help fight for freedom? human rights? help those in need? and i don't mean going to motherless homes and giving cornflakes and chocomilo. It's just like imagining Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian getting a national award in the US.This is not what we need in Nigeria right now, there are more important issues to deal with, but i guess GEJ priorities are misplaced.

  33. Naija governmment will neva cease to amaze someone.Just giving out award like "Agege bread".Thot awards should majorly be for those that has impacted the life of their fellow country men positively, brought pride to our nation or people of high undisputable intellect etc but wat we av in naija is the opposite, awards are given to looters of treasury that has made the lives of fellow nigerians worse off, awards are given to people just cos they churned out some couple of home videos....na wa o.This award tin is even turning to a joke self...naija,they will always find a wrong way to do a right thing..hmmmmmm.SMH

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congrats to them.Without Government money they were able to make something out of nothing. No doubt they are more deserving than the the retinue of corrupt civil servants who got 70% of the awards.

    ReplyDelete
  35. They never deserved it, what have they contributed to the society?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I HEAR SAY GEJ DEY YASH STEPHANIE OKEREKE, ...IS IT TRUE?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nollywood Honors?!Good and Fine!
National Honors?!SMH,well except they are doing something economically changing the lives of needy Nigerians, if not NO they don't deserve it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is a ridiculous award and you want Prof. Chinu Achebe to accept f Pawpaw, Genevive and teph deserve a national award, then over 50 million other Nigerians deserve it. What have they done. They are in their business of aing movies. Is that why they shouldbe given Natioal awards. Has any of them even won an Oscar. Jonathan is too frivolous n his dealings.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Agege Bread and pure water Awards...mcheeeeeeeewwwwwww....

    ReplyDelete
  40. i have absolutely nothing against geneveive bt i honestly dnt think she was a good candidate for a "national" award. for christ ssake the girl has so many scandals to her name including dating a vice president and hospitalized for having acute pile due to excess anal sex from the vice president..there are a lot more deserving nollywood artistes for these awards, not gene. bt then again she has already been awarded so nothing can be done abt it..smh for nigeria!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. jonathan is a joker what have this people done in nigeria to merit this award and as must nigerians can see, must of this people are is personal friends, past and present politicians, past and present governors and merbers of PDP and moreover he just give this people award for stealing nigeria money. (excert the nollywood family)

  42. Hell no they didn't deserve it. National honors are for people who have excelled beyond belief in their chosen fields over a prolonged period of time.

Heck just look at induction into the NFL, MLB or NBA halls of fame. Michael Jordan, the best Ball player of all time was just inducted in 2009. Deion Sanders just inducted into the NFL one this year. These are guys who stopped competitively playing in the 90s, early part of this decade, after being in the game for 15-20 years.

Heck, how do you honor Chinua Achebe and Aki or is it Paw Paw at the same time? Hell to the naw.

  43. whats the essence of it?

    A WASTEFUL & WORTHLESS VENTURE!

When there are pressing matters in the country! really? i don tire for this country!

my respects to the wise- writer who refused it twice!

  45. Linda is two-faced. When she was offered celebrity road marshal or whatever, she did not query whether it was well deserved or not.

Why should an old actor like Olu Jacobs wait so long to be honoured with younger actors. The selection was unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I LOOOOOVE D'lola @7:52PM's comment!!!

Jonathan is a joker for this as well as many other of his shinanigans. mscheeeew
