Assault Saga: Official Statement From The Beat 99.9FM

The attention of the management of THE BEAT 99.9FM has been drawn to widespread online and social media reports, regarding an unfortunate incident that occurred between two members of our staff on THE BEAT FM 99.9 FM premises in the early hours of Thursday September 8, 2011.

The management team can confirm that there was an altercation between our Programmes Director Olisa Adibua and our editor Adewunmi Oyekanmi. We are fully investigating the incident and have placed Olisa Adibua on a four-week suspension as a precautionary measure while he cooperates fully with the investigation. Adewunmi Oyekanmi is also assisting us with the investigation.

As a responsible organisation, the management of THE BEAT 99.9FM condemns any form of violence, assault and abuse, and, will not condone any such act by ANY member of staff.

The BEAT of Lagos event that occurred on the 9th of September, in which Olisa co-hosted with our other BEAT 99.9 presenters, was a jointly staged event with a partner. This partner was made aware of the situation and still requested that we honour the existing contract with his firm which stated that all presenters, including Olisa Adibua, be present at the event.

We assure our listeners, friends, partners and all concerned parties that decisive actions will be taken, and enforced.  The management of the BEAT 99.9FM is already putting in place measures to prevent a repeat of such an unfortunate incident.

 Thank you for your understanding,

The Management
 THE BEAT 99.9FM

  3. say NO to bad behaviour11 September 2011 at 09:29

This statement is too bland its not werking for me at all like they r on the fence pleasing olisa n consoling adewunmi at d same time. Adewunmi sit there n look like ode u hear let them brain wash u go n sue olisa's ass for every dime he has get a good lawyer! And Glo what r u waiting for? Where's ur own statement firing olisa? Look he made himself a scape goat this will teach others like him a lesson. As much as I still find this hard to believe olisa's this brutal, I can't condone such behaviour! Belive it or not a lot of peeps in this country needs shrink.

  4. They need to fuck themselves!! If this didn't get out on the internet, they wouldn't have done anything about it!! Now, they are trying to save face. Fuck you(in Chinese)

  5. How many days later? Olisa needs to be fired! That's not the way to query a member of staff. And if from earlier comments people working with him are terrified, why subject them to such horror on a daily basis. He makes everyone at that place feel worthless. Let us continue to demand for his dismissal!

  10. Mr Chris Obosi if u do not fire olisa snd Deji Awokoya then u are not a man of honour and i can bet u Olisa will ruin ur business

How can u employ people who oppress junior staff? 25 staff have left beatfm in the last 2 years because of Olisa.

He sleeps with junior female staff, use swear words in the office, bangs the doors when angry, he is a tyrant and you leave him there mr Obosi? I've lost all respect for you

    Olisa must got!

  13. I was the commentator that said that if 99.9FM does not sack that fat belly Olisa, then listeners should stop placing adverts on the radio station, because it could have meant that the station supports bullying and assault.

Linda, I am very pleased that Olisa is suspended. Without bloggers like you informing the masses, it would have been swept under the carpet. Bravo!

  20. Have you forgotten? People always behave as their name sound "BEAT" means beating and that's what the staff got.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is in fulfillment of the meaning of the organisation's name "BEAT", which beating of staff is not far from it.
