Boko Haram: Gunmen Kill Man Obasanjo Met In Maiduguri

Late Babakura Fuggu
So on Thursday Sept 15th, ex-president Obasanjo paid a very private visit to the family of slain Boko Haram leader/founder, Mohammed Yusuf, in Maiduguri, where he begged the family to give peace a chance and forgive those who killed their leader.

The man Obasanjo met with was Mohammed Yusuf's brother-in-law, 48year old Babakura Fuggu. Just two days after the meeting, Fuggu was gunned down at his Borno state residence, same venue of the meeting with Obasanjo.

A lone gun man, reportedly in traditional Fulani flowing garb, suspected to be a member of Boko Haram, entered Fuggu's residence at about 1.20pm yesterday afternoon and shot him to death.

The police in Maiduguri say the killing was most likely in protest of Obasanjo's visit to the Yusufs. No one has been arrested yet.

Guess they are not interested in making peace. But was Obasanjo right in visiting Mohammed Yusuf's family? Do you negotiate with terrorists?

  1. Those guys are not terrorist, they believe in what they are fighting for. the only solution is to let them have it, split the fucking country and let them go! We cannot force them to change their ideologies and I think same goes for everyone else, we in the south cannot change too so make every mfucker find him level. I wish peeps will listen to Pastor Orishejafor make we all de hold something then we see who go run....mchew!

  3. Linda baba was once a soldier, for me i don't think he went there for negociations, maybe he went there for his normal tactis. The truth about Boko Haram is yet to be told.Politics is worth more than what me and you can see. There is more to that.Forget what we get from media,if you did mass comm you ll get a bit of what am saying.Who knows the brain behind boko haram, who knows if its the west, maybe one of there plans to come for peace keeping and drill oil like they do to other countries?who knows if its the Nigerian leaders? Many people believe that every story about 9/11 and the capture and killing of Osama are just lies. There are many unanswered questions to 9/11.I pledge all to live his life especially with fear of God.What matters most is not the life we live in the present wicked world but the life we live after death. For me Islam is not a religion.Boko Haram are just some group of murderes sponsored by some rich men and women out there. They said they don't want western education, the bombs and guns they use maybe its boko haram education that gave them the idead on how to build one.Don't they use phones?May God forgive them all

  5. I agree with what the first commentator said. It is time to say goodbye to the North. We will give them a five year window(still give them oil revenue) to get on their feet. It will be difficult as ppl from the south live there but southerners in the north have got to make choices btw life and property or death. I think CAN should start advising their ppl in north and stop focusing on sharia banking.

  6. If the man obj met was a terrorist then he would not have been killed. The visit was a balm over the wound of the wrongful killing. Boko haram should be wiped off the earth now

  7. I think it was rather uninformed for OBJ to be the peace broker in this matter, it is bad enough that he is from the south, and to add insult to injury, he is a christian(not really though..ebora on my mind).A non muslim put more appropriately. How could he possibly sympathise with their cause? If the country is going to split, so be it. How can a people stay in a marriage of over 50 years with nothing but grief and mistrust to show for it. Lord Luggard your project has failed. Bring on the divorce papers make we sign on the dotted lines. Boko Haram are not the problem, the forced marriage is!!!Na by force???

  9. "he who kills by the sword dies by the sword"

The northerners dont want Nigeria to split
    theres a bigger picture
Theres an agenda to Islamize the world.
    wake up people.

    Europe is getting there
    America has been infiltrated
France is almost an Islamic city (though they are fighting back big time)

This is not in our hands, this issue is something that must happen in order to usher in the antichrist
Its so complicated,it will take like 5 pages to write what is going on

all I know is no man can save this world, but the anti-christ will come and deceive people although that will be temporary

watch the things in the heaven,do your research yourself and then youll know

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

  10. SMH @ those asking for Nigeria to be broken up. Really?

Go ask Ojukwu and Gideon Orkar how that worked out.

Boko Haram has killed more muslims than christians, it has killed more people in the North than in the South, so what has breaking up of Nigeria got to do with anything?

  12. On YouTube, search for "Hezbollah in Nigeria" ... They are well established in northern and eastern Nigeria. They used private and successful private construction and import businesses to fool all of you in Nigeria. They have been there for over 10 years. They are Iranians, Syrians, Iraqis, jordanians, Saudis, and Lebanese. The solution is to deport each and everyone of them just like Idi-Amin threw out the Indians out of Uganda. Nigeria must not be allowed to be colonised by Arabs or by anyone. Nigerians would never dare cause political or any trouble in North Africa or Middle East, so why does Nigeria government sit back and allow the Arabs to deprive Nigeria of peace, harmony, co-existence, happiness and prosperity. If swift and drastic action is not taken against Arab influence and devilish interference in Nigeria, there will be continued violence, chaos, murders, kidnappings, rape and corruption in the name of Islam. Islam is not the problem. These racist (even to their own fellow muslims) and two-faced Arabs are the problem in Nigeria.

  14. You do not negotiate with terrorists. What should be done with the boko haram guys is to do what the Americans did and are still doing to al queda. The forst mistake Nigeira made was giving the niger delta militants amnesty. Sometime ago, our very ';sharp' president was talking about offering them the carrot and the stick... Government knows where they are...get them and exterminate them no negotiation o, all the people they have killed did they allow them to negotiate for their lives. This Nigeria sef, full of brainless people as leaders SMBH (Shaking my beautiful head).

  15. These damn people mean business, it's high time the govt gets down to business too. Pity we have a softie as president who relies on his supposed good luck rather than the required strategizing. This is scary.

  16. I believe the message been sent out is clear by these terror group. They are not willing to negotiate.."A Clear position"..Its time FG and security agencies brace up and quash these terror groups

  17. you people that are talking here makes me to laugh......

you are talking about splitting........and you think that they would let you go....so in your dreams you people think that they would let you go.....with your oil.

for that to happen...they would destroy that nation and burry it in ashes....

they people i pity is the igbos and not the yoruba's.....half of the youruba's are muslims...and in yoruba families....the relions are split....

it is only the igbos that i see as the christians in that nation and that is why they are always attacked....they igbos do not need to be part of nigerians....

atleast i know that they would be better than japan in 10yrs if they stay on their own

  19. well i must say, is poor people it affect. as boko haram need to worship their God in full way let us give them a chance to do that. let every tribe go and worship their own way.just so simple let us stop killing because if it affect any of my person it will be life time the country will be in danger.

  20. Okay @Unique's comment made A LOT of sense.

  21. You "can" negotiate with terrorists. The IRA, ETA, PLO, even MEND are all terrorists that have sat down to negotiate.

Isn't OBJ part of the problem of the Boko Haram hydra-headed monster, with the extra-judicial killing of their leader in police custody? Only God knows what transpired in that meeting in Maiduguri.

Perhaps BH, felt Babakura Fugu was a traitor or he'd squeal about the faceless people behind the group.

Now it seems the fear of Boko Haram is the beginning of wisdom.

    Serious palaver oh!

Splitting the country isn't the answer. Deal with the people behind them and bring them to book.

  22. Obj was 110% right in visiting Boko Haram. If militants could be given amnesty for the sake of progress why not Boko Haram?

    ReplyDelete
  23. it is expected of Obasanjo,he has always been a coward a true representation of his tribe, why should we negotiate, how can they even say compensation should be paid to them for murdering innocent Nigerians, who compensates the innocent souls lost, enough of this rigmarole,Obasanjo cannot fool us with his antics for international relevance, let that weakling of a president get his butt off and lay off any law enforcement boss who is found inept in handling this problem, this is a pure show of crass incompetence on the entire law enforcement,No more amnesty,no more cause to share our money to a few disgruntled elements,if this becomes the norm, then its best people like myself who work hard and pay taxes result to violence since at the end of the cycle of crime and violence,Government will enrich us,Let us convey a Sovereign National Conference, and all ethnic groups be represented, there we will outline if we are to co-exist,terms to abide by,or a peaceful break up of the entity which is called Nigeria.
    Enough said.

  24. Either OBJ was being sly as usual..u should never negotiate with a terrorist tho..guess job done..cause a bit of confusion and division within the ranks of Boko Haram..
The sad thing is Baba's doing GEJ's job..this kind lilly livered President sef!!

  25. The title of your post is damn too weak, politically correct and unreasonably lenient on these evil, backward and barbaric and murderous people:

"The Islamist terrorist & Islamic Muslim Extremist, Boko Haram Murdered Man Obasanjo Met In Maiduguri, Nigeria"

We must call these Islamic Muslim terrorist and their sympathisers by what they truly are. They are enemies of progress and they shall come to a desastrous end just like their evil and twisted leader, Osama Bin Laden. May their soul burn in everlasting hell fire. Amen.

  26. If a boko haram member can kill their late leader's brother-in-law just because baba Obj paid him a visit, it shows how unreasonable these people are. The best way is to calmly device traps for them, just as a man traps mouse in his house.

  29. The man was killed some hours or minutes before he was supposed to grant an online interview. OBJ had nothing to with that.

He was probably killed to stop him from revealing things about Boko Haram to the social media. OBJ saw him 48hrs earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I definitely think it was a great move by Obsanjo to "try" and intervene or talk peacefully with these animals. We all learnt a very valuable lesson with the killing of the poor man after the visit, and it is that these people are unreasonable and will NEVER stop until they have caused a lot of mayhem and havoc. The Nigerian Govt should either severe ties with them or start jungle justice...Shikena

  31. Obasanjo is a bad omen,,,something bad always happens whenever he is connected....but this Boko Haram have just passed a message across to those nuggets in Aso rock. they had better cut the negotiating crap and tackle this issue as they are suppose to. 4 heaven's sake u don't negotiate with terrorist!!!!! and dats all am saying

  32. @ anonymous 9:59 you should not bring our beloved PROPHET MUHAMMAD(SAW)in this issue.

  33. Some of you guys are not thinking at all.

I will advice, you guys to educate yourselves about countries that split. Do you understand that splitting the country and northerners going separate is going to cause more problems than what is already on the ground. Nigeria is already divided enough, so why do you think this will be easy.

It's easier said than done. Obviously, the government know about the boko haram. They should try to negotiate peace, and work this out.

  35. Its quiet sad, the way things are going on. we the northern Christians are the most disadvantaged, because if this country is split we have no where to go, especially those of us from Borno state that are Christians we are not ever going to deny our faith we will follow Christ even though Boko haram slain us and our christian brothers from the east and south are calling for this country to split( which is understandable) this leaves us no option but to fight for the land of our dreams where peace and justice shall reign, we have no where else to.

  36. Is nigeria a country or a land of all?

    ReplyDelete
  37. But do we still have a government in nigeria?
    like a history once said,,,,,,,

The history of Boko Haram began during the “movement for Shari’ah law across the country”; Said Fugu to OBJ. An islamic scholar and jurist, Gumi, started sharia movement in the 1980s, Muslim students Unions- Izala, quickly bought the idea of an Islamic state based on sharia laws for Northern Nigeria.Gumi's teaching is;"a Muslim must be ruled and judged by a Muslim." Members of Izala at that time and most northerners who admired Gumi's prophecy at that time, are today's northern politicalkopf. Our SSSmen know this much, more than Babakura Fugu knew. One wonders why handcuff only hungery youths, parading scapegoats about and creating smoke-screen- as Boko Haram. Why not focus on those who
used presidential jet to fly Gumi's rest into Nigeria and the Izala leaders that promised to fullfil Gumi's prophecy. As you read, one thing is certain,-islamization and sharialiation of northern Nigeria is complete..
obasanjo and lord lugard are nigeria big problems today,,
the hams are no longer sure of protecting there eggs or kids,,thx

  40. IF the man they murdered was part of their sect they probably would have warned him not to accept the visit...afterall it was a secret visit. Which means this BH is not the same BH of yester years.

The problem with terrorism is you are fighting against an Ideology. How do you fight against a person who doesn't fear death?

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Linda, it maybe better for you to wait a few days to get more facts before 'copying' or being misled by some unprofessional journalists. Boko Haram has now said that they did not kill Babakura Fugu.

Kindly pull down this post because it was wrong to blame Boko Haram in the first place. I am not blaming you but some newspapers.

  43. I still believe there's more to this Boko Haram issue...... more than what Nigerians can see at the moment or more than what the press is giving us,,,but what i cant really say exactly is if the whole thing has a political undertone and if it has,,,,who are the politicians involved and what is their motive/mission???.......

From my own reasoning,,,,i dont see anything wrong in OBJ's secret visit,,,,what if OBJ's visit was just all that was needed to pacify these people??OBJ had reasons why he visited and am too sure there are some things he knows about them that isnt clear to anyone,,,,,why didnt GEJ pay BH dat secret visit??there's more to this.....

All i can say is whatever issue(s) BH has,,violence and wasting of innocent lives isnt the best way to resolve it..........they say Islam is a religion of peace,,,am beginning to doubt this saying now cos ever since this issue of BH has started i have not seen or heard of any islamic leader/cleric who has said anything to bring these people to order or make them desist from their violent acts.......

@Annon Sept 18,12:07pm......i strongly agree with u,,,,it may be the signs of the end of this world.....hmmmm!!!

  44. At least somebody is doing something. Since the boko haram happened, Jonathan hasnt done or said anything.
So, no matter what people say about Obasanjo, he tries more than some other loser leaders.

There's nothing absolutely wrong with OBJ visit, something needs to be done. We human beings are never satisfied.

  45. I give obasonjo props. The man get liver die. No body is putting my behind up to that kind of peace talk. Say who die? its just like clinton going to Asia to get those female journalist released sometime ago. This is really impressive of these former presients. Anyhoot these Boko haram bastards are not ready to be reasonable. They are completely bonkers and will kill their own blood to make a point. I just don't know how to fight people like that. Like someone said you would be fighting an idealogy and these people kill for what they believe in. Ain't no changing their minds o
