So here's what happened. When he hit the scene in 2006, he was signed to a music label called Colosal Entertainment. In 2007, Soul E left the record label and they sued him for breach of contract. The case went to court in Oct 2007 and only just concluded recently.
The record label won the case and Federal High Court, Lagos has ordered that the singer pay the label the sum of N168, 486, 320 and five more albums to complete their agreement.
The agreement, which was signed in 2005, states that Soul E will release 6 albums under Colossal Records, and so many other things which the singer agreed to and signed. The label claim they spent millions on Soul E in the two years he was with them and want their money back. And unless Soul E pays Colossal that money and give them the 5 albums, he can never perform on stage again as Soul E.
very good, most Nigerian artist just want to use a record label to make name for themselves and later abandon the label without honoring the terms of the contract signed. Flavor should watch out. i heard he is also having issues with the contract he signed with his label - Nath Ekanem

ReplyDeleteI Knew this boy over 6 years ago when he was huzzling in sattelite towen and we invited him a few times to come and sing in my church. very talented. I was shocked when i heard he married a cougar and was living large. indeed, not all that glitters is gold. if he was patient, he would have risen slowly without having to owe anybody. he ventured abroad after his divorce and i guess he has now sees that abroad no be where dem dey pluck pounds like that. he had better settle out of court with the record label.

ReplyDeletepride comes b4 downfall. i know dis guy way back in Unity Primary School, Jakande Estate, Mile 2, Lagos. he suddenly became a """bigz boy""" and 4got his root. He wouldn't even associate himself with anything that has to do with Jakande Estate, Mile 2. Mayb he should go back to his friends, Soul D and Soul T. na ur family wey suddenly turn demselves to "gbogbo bigz" na im i pity.
