Statement from the organisers of Music Meets Runway

Early this morning, one of the major headliners of the highly anticipated show, Music Meets Runway, Amber Rose tweeted that she will not be coming to Nigeria to host Music Meets Runway 2011.
Due to recent developments of Amber Roses nude photos that surfaced on the internet last week, we were in discussion as to what to do about the situation with some of our sponsors who had understandably shown some concern. We were still in discussions with our sponsors to accommodate Amber when we read Amber Roses tweet about her not being booked to host Music Meets Runway.
Amber has indeed been booked and paid for through a reputable international booking agent and we were as surprised as anyone to see the tweet.
This situation is under investigation and details will be passed as more information comes.
The show, Music Meets Runway will still hold come Saturday, July 9 at Expo Center, Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
Music Meets Runway is an event poised & designed to create awareness for the laudable and fledging growth the Nigerian fashion industry has recorded in recent times. The event won’t be all about fashion as 10 musical artistes will also grace the occasion dishing out hits after hits. It will be a great networking opportunity for fashion industry, professionals including educators, retail buyers, fashion journalists, trendsetters and consumers.
We want to assure the public that we are bringing you a great show with some of the most amazing Nigerian Artists and Designers and that this event will be nothing short of a phenomenal experience.
A press conference will be scheduled shortly and information will be sent to all media houses.

    Amber Rose was never booked.
All this fake event companies should stop extorting the Nigerian penchant for show off by passing off stupidly organized shows for exorbitant amounts!!!

WOW! i just hope they get all that mess sorted out. and I'm not surprised that her nude photos came into play here. SMH. why is anyone even surprised about those pictures anyway? you don't need to see some crude nude photos to know what Amber Rose is all about.
i think they should just find someone else, cause Amber Rose has all this wahala going on.

  8. Oh please are you saying they leaked the photos to make the excuse? I'm sure they booked her because it's not something they can hide forever. Nigeria has hired bigger international stars, is it now Amber Rose that is just a socialite that they'll be lying about. No wonder she thinks she has Nigerian rosebuds, she clearly does

  17. Nigeria really needs some kind of enforced refund policy! These stupid little girls know they can scam us and get away with it. Notice how the press release did not contain a proper apology? In their real lives they are as bad as amber rose- wannabe famous by force. They should give refunds...oops, they probably haven't paid eko hotel

  18. Well Amber Rose has deleted her tweets about not coming to Nigeria so I believe the organisers. This will not be the first time amber is doing something like this. She must be daft or something.

  19. @Tomisin 'she's done that before` really? Pray tell, when?

As for her deleting her post being proof that the organizers were right, really?

  24. if there was nothing shady going on from amber's side, she wouldnt delete her tweets but its lame to use the naked pictures as an excuse. they knew who and what she was and if they were looking for a role model figure who wont have her nude pics everywhere, they sure would av found another celeb. very lame really

  25. FBI Ke? What's their own? Except if the organizers wired money to someone claiming to be amber's company.

In this case however, it seems they didnt pay anyone anything, just like they scammed using Dare's name, they tried scamming using Amber's name.

On that day they would just announce that due to this or that she couldn't make it, and it is what it is.

Shameful that in 2011, such elements still exist in Nigeria.

  28. i dey laugh! i wonder why bella isn`t saying anything about this issue.

This was my exact comment on Bella Naija and it wasn`t published.

I personally think they are all just deluded on that site.

Linda, I love your blog by the way because you talk about real pressing issues.

  29. Nigerians think we are stupid. Are they trying to say that they supposedly booked Amber Rose without a contract??? (Clearly we are dumb)Lets be serious now. If these people go on with the show without her, it will be plain wrong. Nobody is paying money to see Wizkid & co perform oooo. Scamming Nigerians! Why will they bring up the nude pictures??? like don't we all know she was an ex-stripper (so I'm sure that involved her taking off her clothes anyway, whats the difference now if pictures were taken) These "type" of Nigerians just make me sick. YOU CANNOT HOLD ANY SHOW WERE YOU'VE SOLD TICKETS TO SEE AMBER ROSE HOST AND YOU GET THERE AND SEE GENEVIEVE OR TONTO WITH THE MICROPHONE!!!!!!! Dont you think we will notice the "real" celebrity difference. Pschewwwwww Are you kidding me?
