TOH BAD!! This is wonderful! I'd love to see it. I wonder if they'll release it for us here in Yankee. We hardly ever get all those good Nollywood ones, which end up in the theaters in Naija.
Reminds me of a good African-American movie actually.
Jeebus! more banality from Nollywood. Are Nigerians so uncivilised, that people actually watch these 'tree impressionist'display their wooden wares. These films(if one can call it that) are unbelievably shoddy and dialogue so puerile. As most things in Nigeria,it is all about Money, not the art. Nigerians should take a peak at french-west african films for their quality. For example, Ousmane Sembene's La noire de;Soulaymane Cisse's Yeelen;Oumar Sissoko's Gumbia.etc etc Wonder Why these french african directors are able to produce well received films, despite coming from impoverished countries.
nonsense but Linda.. After toiling for how many years, you credit Ini Edo and L. Forson after Uti Nwachukwu who has not even done more than 5 films. It is not even bad enough that Uti cannot act to save his life. Women una sabi insult other women
ok! I am sorry to be the spoiler right now, but this story line is so darn played out. I have seen over 5 american movies with this story line; not very original... real sad. I hope the progression of the story is not the same because right now I can actually tell the whole darn story from the preview of the movie... I didnt even bother finishing it
oh my goodness...i beg which cinema go show this movie...i must watch o....and n btw what s trailer????? s dat what ts called or thriller...eyin eleyi e badt gan o
LOL "show me the trouble that is troubling you I want to trouble the trouble" That line cracked me up so badly! Funny dude!!!
Meanwhile Nigerians or wannabe non-Nigerians, I am so fed up with those of you that just carry negativity as your trademark. Like can't you just see something and learn to appreciate it? Especially the wannabe oyibos that have managed to leave the shores of Nigeria! What?!!! I am tired of all these negative comments and it's like I'm always seeing negativity coming from our very people concerning anything that concerns Nigeria. Cut us some slack(yea we proud Nigerians) and give yourselves dignity too.
While I commend the effort put into this movie just from seeing the promo, I have to agree with an earlier comment here that one can easily guess the story; but then that is left for all to fathom at the end of the day. I have a sneaky feeling that the high points of the movie was expertly packaged into the promo with some animated graphics for effects. I also agree with some one who said its the usual Nigerian story. It might be but what one will be looking out for would be the directorial treatment, which in my opinion might just be average. The colour graded pictures and defocused background of some of the shots obviously have fooled some people into scoring the movie high but there is more to that. I still see the SAME old Nollywood SHOUTING, same overdramatic facial expressions, same bland reactions and a NEEDLESS attempt at slapstick by using the comedian with the nasal drawl at the end of the promo. And what kind of a title is 'In the CUPBOARD'? I guess the Producer though using 'CLOSET' would alienate his Nigerian audience but Cupboard takes the prize for silly definations if you ask me! The only true attempt at acting I gleamed was from that Alex Ekubo fellow but I hope it was not peripheral. Uti obviously is much aware of his fine boy status and tries to mask his acting deficiences with that but the camera cannot be fooled. In all, this is just an average Nollywood movie, just some elevated Camera work to add a few marks to the low scores. And..oh yes... the sound was hollow...location sound was less than average. Desmond has some ideas as a director but he has a long way to go...
Uti is not an actor. It should not take a genius to unravel that. While we are at it,that Gideon Okeke chap is Tinsel who was in Big Brother is even worse. I am not knocking anyone's hustle and i know it is all about who you know but you need to visit some of the theatre arts depts in our universities and see pure talent.yet these talents end up in banks, call centres and as teachers while these fine faces with zero acting talents are desecrating my screen.
sighs.....i dont know what to say to all the negative commentators.....buh all i can say is that....try and appreciate what your fellow people are doing kk? we dont have to be Americans or Europeans, Haba.. pls Linda is dis movie going to be online? cos in Canada, the city i live in, most of the movies I watch are nutn to write about...the good ones end up not being online or in stores.

ReplyDeleteAnon 10:40 did you checked the trailer it credits Uti before Ini, Linda probably just copied from that no needs for insults.
ReplyDeleteIf it pains you that much write to Desmond Elliott and ask him to change it.
Lovely...Looks promising.I love the fact that there are new faces.Kudos Desmond Elliot!
