"Jeta waited for me for six years" - Mbong Amata
"He was the one that came to conduct my first interview in Calabar. I went in for an audition and he asked me to read a line. After I did, he was like 'wow, you read it so well'. After I got the role, we started shooting and one day he just walked up to me and said 'Look, I am going to marry you.' For a grown man to tell a 16yr old (child) he is going to marry her is not adorable, there is a name for people like that!!! Whilst she is married to him now if he were not of a particular standing, she would have shouted for the world to know. Na wa for women.
ReplyDeleteWow... That's something
ReplyDeleteTalk about being a peado!! lol But its scary tho...
ReplyDeleteWaiting for 6years nor easy ooo.. :-)
ReplyDeleteGrown man telling a child he would marry her. Paedophile springs to mind
ReplyDeleteIts not scary...its determination and love...and anyone can mean it. Its honorable, rather than marry her young like those silly, shameless Northern leaders all in the name of their stale and archaic religious-culture
ReplyDeletethats kinda sick, but i guess he is a serious man. but still :-/
ReplyDeletelovely couple
ReplyDelete@ Anon 10.35...pls what has paedo got to do wit dis biko? he waited til she was an adult old enuf to consent to d marriage, wetin de bite u!!!! Abeg happy married life to them two...
ReplyDeletefor a virgin, even osama ll wait
ReplyDeleteWithin that 6 years period, he must be seeing other people the girl relayed it like he waited 6 whole year for her in celibacy. Jeta is thirsty as f*uck. He's a P in disguise.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 10:35am
ReplyDeleteHow can he be a paedo when he waited for six years?!!! What is wrong with u people? If he didn't wait and just had his wicked way with her, he'd be called a paedo. He did the honourable thing by waiting, you're still calling him a paedo. Check your warped reasoning. Ok?!
When you say wait. do you mean he had no other relationships, or kept tabs on you? If you ask me, that is child abuse oh. You can't tell me he had no other relationship for 6yrs!!
ReplyDeleteAny which way, I am happy for you two.
congrate, lucy u, i thank God 4u
ReplyDeletethat's interesting, happy 4u o
ReplyDeletesoooooo.....he didnt sleep with anyone else while "waiting"?
ReplyDeleteWe love to romanticize everything sha....
They look happy. If they are happy, im happy for them
Mbong just thank your stars, cos If I had located Jetta in those six years, You wouldn't have a story to tell - cos I would have cornered him (used to have a crush on him). He is sooooooooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteWas he celibate whilst waiting? Therein lies the million dollar question. Cos if he was sleeping with other women during the 6-year wait....is that not parsality?
ReplyDeletewow....this would have got his butt arrested in the states...like seriously? who walks up to a 16year old and go "i will marry you"..only in a no law having Nigeria...I guess this is supposed to be some romantic story?#not
ReplyDeleteAll of you freaks commenting and condemning Jeta, especially the hypocritical female 'Anonymous' bad belle commentators, you all should go to hell. How many of you can boast of being even virgins at 13? You all come on this blog and post sanctimonious shitty comments as if una toto dey tight. Ask all your mothers when they got married if not even younger than 16 in their days ( and I am sure most of your mothers had lost their virginity playing village moonlight games) and now you see a commendable gentleman who waited for his bride for years ( sleeping around or not) and you all write nonsense. Hissssss. I beg, Jeta, carry on with your blessed life, jare! It me, your friend, 'Spiritual'.
ReplyDeleteIn the States, he would be sitting in jail and registering as a sex offender; however, this happened in Nigeria so his actions would not be deemed a violation of any laws especially since a sitting senator married a 13 year old.
ReplyDeleteIf saying he waited for her makes Mbong sleep good at night then great for her:) I think Jeta was seeing other women but he never gave his heart away to any of them since he had Mbong in mind for his wife. I am not saying a man can't be celibate but e get as e be when one is a top shelf director in a an industry where some women will do anything to be famous.
Well, good luck with your marriage young lady:)
i'm sure while he wwaited during those 6 yrs....he was test driving awon bigger girls. hahhahaha body no be firewood
ReplyDeletedidn't omotola marry at 17 or something like that to her older husband?
ReplyDelete@Anon 3:26 Y would he get arrested for telling a 16year old dat he is going to marry her? Get ur facts straight b4 u start claiming knowing d law of the United States. He never suggested anything sexual, or tried anything physical with her. Meanwhile, what is wrong with Nigerians? Y all d hate amongst themselves? #justasking
ReplyDeleteshe is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous
ReplyDeleteBUT A HORRIBLE TERRIBLE ACTRESS AT BEST
Some people are just daft.Claiming you know US law when you never enter the country before.
ReplyDeleteThere is no law against telling a 16 yr old he will wait for her to marry her.Thats an honorable thing to do.
Please what is the age difference between the 2 of them? Noone is even considering that. What if the guy was 26 and she was 16 (10yrs) whats the big deal.
The spirit of jealousy runs in naija women's blood and thats how you block your own good things from happening.
May God continue to bless your union Mbong and Jeta. All these babes here are jealous, low life, losers and haters.psssst
Look guys, it's not that diffcult to read carefully.
ReplyDeleteShe never said he waited 6 years for them to have sex. Rather, she said he waited 6 years to get married.
That means they weer bonking each other while they waited.
Ok seems like there are a lot of 'Americanas' always constantly quoting America and ish on every single issue on this blog. Like please get over it, America is not synonymous with the perfect life so please spare us the unnecessary deets!
ReplyDeleteHe saw a girl he likes, and decided to wait until she's old enough to be a lawful bride, what is wrong with that?
As a human being, he let it out at one time because he saw what he liked and just couldn't keep it to himself for so long.
And who cares whether he waited faithfully or was trying to find another girl? The point still is that he still saw her worthy to be the one after 6 years and came back, please how is that not romantic? Some people just like to rubbish everything good about people sha!
Mbong dear, don't mind anybody. It's something to be proud of.
ehn all the haters have landed here!mschewww! jealous, envious and bitter people that is what all of you are! erm did he violate her sexually or try to rape her if you cannot read well then don't bother commenting she said he said he was going to marry her but she told him to wait cos she was 16 plus he waited for her for 6 good years now that is sth...and all of you saying that he must have slept around while waiting for her how are you so sure? did you sleep with him during that time(if you did no be ashawo you don become? or if you didnt then shut the hell up or else how did you know?)aprokos nonsense! i wonder when nigerians would start focusing on the good/positive aspect of things.
ReplyDeletebadt guy! caught her young.haha
ReplyDeletelinda....this is why nigeria is called a failed state.....nigerians have problems with everything....us law....us law...what has that got to do with waiting for someone for six years...nwankwo married his wife at age 19....omotola 17...what is the problem with nigerians....
ReplyDeletei live in the states and this is always the problems with nigerians.....claiming to know what they do not know....
Ohhh please! Why does anything that is not "kissing ass" on this blog always equal jealoudy to some people. Other than money, what else does Jet have that other guys dont have? You people are talking as if there is something to be jealous of. Anway sha, I think its cute and creepy at the same time. You barelt know someone and you are already proposing marriage? Some Nigerian men have no swag when it comes to "toasting" lolol.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you look at it,she said waited 6 years to get married and not exactly 6 years celibate, whether it be with each other or other people. So hmmmm.....
Btw, is it just me, or does this chic look different in alnost every pictire I see her in?
ReplyDeletealicia says said no one is kissing ass here truth be told is that you have a sad life and you always try to bring ohers down to satisfy your selfish interest.....i think i have an idea of who you are! very soon your cup will be filled up!mscheww
ReplyDeletebtw it is obvious that you are a jobless mofo always on Linda's blog looking for who to bring down! tufia for you...no one ever does anything right in your sight...you must hate from mercy to mohits to jeta....doesn't that say sth about you....you need to check yourself and ask God to help you appreciate others instead of hate! a word is enuff for the wise...i am out!
ReplyDeleteso cute my HUBBY did the same thing.... I think it is and Eastern thing. IBO N Delta men can wait forever for a woman they want..(PLS NOTE FOR A WOMAN THEY WANT)
ReplyDeleteGrace no be only alicia my dear Chi nko you no dey see the thing she dey type for ppl.. ALL NA WINCH!!
ReplyDeleteAfter she read this you go see the thing wey she go type for here
BLAH BLAH BLAH, SAVE YOUR PREACHING FOR WEDNESDAY'S EVENING MASS!
ReplyDeleteas i said, its cute AND creepy. how can you propose marriage to someone you barely even know? abeg, sharrap there!
if it were John Okafor, what would you be saying? everyone would be calling him a creep and stuff. puhleaze!
its not odd, and pedophilia in any time of way, its ingrained in our culture, and history/ongoing western civilization is making us forget that.
ReplyDeleteDon’t mind Alicia I don’t why she will not go and get a man of her own instead been here criticizing other people bless / happiness. Alicia when you welcome god thing that happen to others God will bring your own to you. Alicia is a100% Amibor girl.lol
ReplyDeleteshe is pretty. congrats to them
ReplyDelete@ChiChiLuv: No girl, in the States, a man can marry/get in a relationship with a girl less than 18 if her parents give consent.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that you'd say that considering the fact that it's all over the news that a 51yr old actor just married a 16 yr old aspiring singer.
@MsJb: Spot on!
lmao Alicia na busy body oh! mtchew who said that everybody would call him a creep? do you think everyone thinks like you? with your pea sized brain! go and sleep my friend!
ReplyDeleteFemiLuv - I can agree with you if the parents were consulted with and gave their consent PRIOR to his statment. However, if taken at face value, her statement (if I am not wrong) is that she was working with him when he came up to her and said that he was going to marry her. In the States, if someone over heard that and reported it, Jeta would be questioned in the very least about his intentions even if Mbong did not feel accosted. I know of the case you are speaking of and I am also aware that a child of 14 years of age and up can ask to be emancipated from the parent etc etc. I am just saying that without digging deep what he said could have gotten him in trouble here but in Nigeria, he can get away with make such a statement. People might actually say that she should be flattered that a big time time director said something like that to her.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice having a nice discussion and differing opinions without the rudeness. Thanks, Femiluv!:)
na wa ooo.pple dis nt an issue!!!!!!!dey re both grown now ..married nd hapi..wats d wahala now...una sha lik gossipppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlicia, just wondering do you take drugs???
ReplyDeleteIf so, its seriously messing you up,man? Gosh
na wa for people sha..its not a matter of difference in opinion o.its a matter of haters(@alicia).i mean, the girl is happily married.the guy waited 6 yrs for her which is a gud thing.abeg free them jor. dont they have people in the bible who worked for years for their brides...he made his intentions known for the girl n waited for her n he's been labelled a ped. in the US sef most of the 15 yr olds look like 20sthing plus.all u peeps.naija people no dey happy for others
ReplyDeletenot creepy at all. cultural context is very different. and to chichi the lawyer, try jailing someone in the US for making that comment. u watch too much tv.
ReplyDeleteThis is so so romantic. You can feel something good when you see it. @ Alicia, what of if they get to know each other better during those six years. Must you sleep with someone to propose marriage? Just asking.
ReplyDeleteHate it or love it! this is some fairy tale wedding here in Naija.. Happy for them both. And besides, isn't he meant to marry her young or is it when her boobs are sagging or when her pussy would have slacked off like the millions of girls out there. I just feel 90% of the comments here are from bad belle females wishing they were the ones telling such stories..
ReplyDeleteAbeg jealous people carry your beef and park well!! I like this guy and he really did the honorable thing...I mean what's the age diff btw them? what if he was 25 then? What? everytime US Law, US Law, what's your own law in 9ja? Nansense!!
ReplyDelete@ChiChiLuv: Yep, couldn't agree more. Have a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteAll those people calling him Paedo should just SHARRAP. 16 is the legal age of consent in most countries, it is lower in some countries and higher in some.
ReplyDeletePlease check the meaning of Pedophilia before you start throwing the word around.
Ndi okacha mara.
"In the States, he would be sitting in jail and registering as a sex offender"
ReplyDeleteChichiluv, making that statement will not land him in jail. For Christsake she was 16 going on 17, not 5. Heck some states in US still have age of consent as 13 sef, my dear go and read up on it.
Chichi luv you are totally wrong. this is what the U.S law says.
ReplyDelete"The phrase statutory rape is a term used in some legal jurisdictions to describe sexual activities where one participant is below the age required to legally consent to the behavior"
So please stop talking crap you don't know.
And even self, when did the U.S become the standard on marrying? Its in African culture to marry young so what the hell.
for those mentioning America...it is a good thing we are in Nigeria No?
ReplyDeleteSee una mouth like America
Linda U see wetin You don cause for here. Now everyone thats writing after Alicia is asking for her head. Like its not all of us here that condemns what we feel is not right.
ReplyDeletePlz people every human is entitled to his/her own oipnion and I personally think every individuals' oipnion should be respected. Alicia only said what she thinks of the issue on ground, why are you all biting her???
Hypocrites is what I will tag all of you here, You guys are antagonizing Alicia cos you happen to read her own comment before posting your own, she only said what majority of us had in mind but lack the courage to say and only try at best to go with the flow.
Suggestion: I think its more honourable to respect peoples view even if you don't agrre with it.
TO: The two anonymous nonentities that posted @ 2:49 and @ 1:34 PM - please see how FemiLuv and I had a disagreement but we managed to discuss it without being rude and condescending. This is how MATURE ADULT speak with one another so until you can learn to do so, please refrain from talking to me.
ReplyDeletePeople called the man pedophile which is far worst than what I said which right or wrong is not even close to being a pedophile, una know carry una ITK go dere o, na my own concern una, shebi? Whatever works for y'all works for me LMAO.
Again, I say I love how my name attracts all kinds, heck, maybe I should start a blog lol. Whaddaya think, Linda? Can I be your protege?
ChiChi luv when others talked, they were expressing opinions. Unlike you wey don turn yourself to supreme court judge of America. Stop stating things as facts when you don't know anything about it.
ReplyDeleteIn America this, In America that as if America na gospel. And you will think for someone who drops America all the time you would at least get your information right.
4.56pm: Well, since I live in America I will ALWAYS use it as my reference point and in some cases I might even use Nigeria because I lived there for many years and still visit as often as possible. You can read my OPINIONS as though I am stating them as the fact of life, that is your perogative. You are wrong. I have never claimed to know more than anyone even newscasters, newspapers, magazines get their information wrong from time to time. You don't have to like nor agree what I say, my life continues regards but I can say thank you kindly for at least experience your disagreement objectively.
ReplyDeletePeace!
chichiluv ok now i at least respect people that could own up to having communicated wrong information.....lets sign peace treaty.
ReplyDeleteSha this brings up another topic that linda you should cover. Why do we always use the west as a measuring stick for almost everything?
@alleny, i love you! muah. you are not like many people here with their mob mentality.
ReplyDeletehaha :)
CORRECTED:
ReplyDelete4.56pm: Well, since I live in America I will ALWAYS use it as my reference point and in some cases I might even use Nigeria because I lived there for many years and still visit as often as possible. Additionally, I will use other places as well if it is relevant to the discussion. You and others can chose read my OPINIONS as though I am stating them as the fact of life, that is your perogative. You are wrong. I have never claimed to know more than anyone even newscasters, newspapers, magazines get their information wrong from time to time even with all the research they do beforehand. You don't have to like nor agree with what I say, my life continues regardless but I can say thank you kindly for at least expressing your disagreement objectively.
Peace!
naija babes wetin be una own.For the fact that he waited weather he was sleeping around or sleeping with her which one concern una. For the fact that he waited for 6yrs that is commendable and i'm sure through out that 6yrs the bobo was wooing her and was consistent cos i know we women we love attention. I leave in the states and here teen pregnancy is high and i mean girls as young as 13yrs re baby mamas. so tell me which is better being a baby mama without husband or having an honorable guy who is ready to wait 4 u and doing what is right. No matter how old Jeta is i don't think he is older than 40 moreover what about the likes of Omotola and Bianca(remember Bianca was a beauty queen and her father was the deputy gov so it wasn't a money issue. she even forfeited her crown. )so y don't u all look at it as love in Mbong's case too. i don't think any babe ll leave a guy that is consistent cos i'm sure Jeta was and is.and as long as they re happy that seals the deal.
ReplyDelete
