AFRUCA founder, Debbie Ariyo, appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire

Debbie Ariyo, Founder and Executive Director of AFRUCA – Africans Unite Against Child Abuse has been appointed an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 Queen’s Birthday Honours List announced on 11 June 2011 for her services to children and families.

Debbie established AFRUCA in 2001 as a platform for promoting the rights and welfare of African children in the UK.

  2. Big congrats. I hads goose bumps when i read it in the dailies on Saturday. We have so many mutual friends on FB. Also, John Amaechi ex-NBA star was given an award too. It's a shame, there's just one comment here.

  4. She has saved a lot of people from slavery in the UK. The Queen should grant her a OBE or an MBE someday. Debbie ride on!
