Your President....

From the presidential election results released so far, President Goodluck Jonathan is leading...by a mile...so he's most likely going to rule us for the next four years. How do you feel about that?

  1. If he wins, I pray God gives him the wisdom and bravery to lead the country aright. But I counting is still going on, I pray that God's will prevails on Nigeria.

  2. Mixed feelings!! Considering that the beginning of Nigerian's progress should be a strong war against corruption.... Buhari would have been a good candidate

  9. He was the best candidate standing, all factors considered, in my opinion. Buhari would've been the worst choice for Nigeria....all he cares about are his interests and the interests of his people, he would probably have been worse than Obasonjo considering his track record under Nigeria's military rule. All the stupid, backward mentality rules he put in place back then, I sincerely don't believe he has changed or will ever change..still the same man.
Nigeria needs to move forward, we need change! The same ol' people can't keep on running the country like it's their personal property, this opportunity is Goodluck's to lose..my hope is that he knows that and gets Nigeria on track
I believe this is my longest comment on your blog so far Linda..hope you've been good. :)

  14. If he wins he deserves it...why should a former dictator come back to rule...surely people endorsing Bihari can't be that naive...or maybe?!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Err....Too early to postulate Linda.. The electoral law says the winner must have 25% in 2/3 states in the country. Till all numbers are in, its too close to call.

  18. A bit premature to be concluding that he is leading- half of the country population is in the north and they are strongly backing Buhari up there; so it could lead to a run-off between the two. Also we should wait for official confirmation from INEC. These elections, while credible, have had some fair share of controversy and poor sportsmanship by opposition parties every time they lost.

  19. results released in the south? the north has gone overwhelmingly for Buhari

  20. Four more years of the PDP at the helm is painful. It will be BAU and i believe GEJ will show his true colours and also get rid of a lot of OBJ men for his own men.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Linda, I think this is very irresponsible of you! No authentic results have been published yet so enough of this junk journalism.

  22. This tatababe docent make sense, you comments are always crap.....

  23. Lets be patient.... the best leader would emerge. If GEAJ wins this would mean the the very first for him.at least the position he would ever really get by contesting..Goodluck Nigerians ...Best of Luck my motherland

  25. insha allah rubbish must we be ruled by Northerners forever up DELTA!!! UP CHRISTIANS!!

  26. mixed feelings also. i guess he isn't the best candidate, but he isn't the worst. and it will be good that someone from southern Nigeria, more especially a minority tribe finally gets their turn (i know i usually preach against tribal bias, but this will let the other smaller ethnicities know that its not impossible). tired of the same old people from the same old area doing the same old thing! anyway, my biggest flaw with Goodluck is his affiliation with PDP and we all know how that party gets down. thats the only thing that keeps me "at the edge" concerning Goodluck. but whatever, make the best man win.

  30. I'll be really sad if Goodluck wins. He's way to complacent to push this country in the direction it needs to go.
It's also really unfortunate that there are Nigerians out there who know Buhari's track record and can still CONSIDER him for president.
We, the people, need to change.

  31. His wife officially needs an etiquette coach and English teacher..Let's remember that Nigeria was a British colony, thus the president's wife should be able to communicate effectively in good English. We have the reputation of being some of the most eloquent people on earth..

    ReplyDelete
  32. what do you mean, Your President, please change to OUR PRESIDENT....shebi you be naija too...lol

  33. Linda is calling a national election based on results from one part of the country... Stick to gossip and fashion, abeg...

  34. Well, I'm rooting for Ribadu but if Jonathan wins, I can only pray and hope that he has the country and the people in mind.

  35. Hands down. GEJ is the best man for this job. Have u seen all the clowns people endorsed to even be considered presidential candidates? People keep on thinking ruling Nigeria is a joke. Firstly, is the candidate educated before you start asking if they are corrupt or not corrupt. r u serious? When Buhari talks, I want to bury my head in shame. The other day, OBJ was interviewed on Africa channel. Woww, I was just ashamed as he was giving answers that had no correlation to the questions asked. Let me not started with bad grammar that was coming out of the mouth of the ex-president of an english speaking country. SMH.
Nigeria needs to give GEJ a chance. For the sake of God, he took over from yaradua! What magic do pple expect this man to perform under an administration that was not his own? Do you know how hard it is to spin anything in a bureaucracy? Its like going against a tide. Everything is systematic and does not take one person.
We lose hope too fast. No matter how bad home is, we have to be optimistic. I'm a 21 yr old studying in the US and I cannot wait to come home. Home is home for a reason. I'm so proud of all the young people who are taking the initiative to become politically active. Movements like this get the younger generations thinking and aspiring to get to that position some day.

Like any child is out there saying "I want to be a politician". If you plant no seeds, u reap nothing.

  37. It's a bit sad cos I like the man but not his entourage. That shouldn't matter but it does if he can't do a thing without their influence. The pact between Buhari & Bakare would do well for discipline in Nigeria even if doesn't augur well with majority i it is what we need for now, believe me! After that, a more suave person can come in. The decadence is way too much and the impunity of corrupt people make me sad and I ponder how my children will grow up in a society that is nearly devoid of values.
Yes, Buhari was a dictator but I believe he has somewhat realized that the draconian system of government can't work in a democratic setting. Also, he has a VP that will not be a stooge but veritable help steer the ship - a good balance. Both of them seem "extremist" but hasn't the dearth of values gone beyond extreme?
The only time I ever knew good order ion Nigeria was the earlier BB era. Even tho' it seemed forced, with enough time, people would have adequately imbibed the culture. Some needn't as they are just goats but many would and it would do well for a nation. Jonathan is a good man but not all great mean are wise.
The situation has reached critical mass.

  38. I have noticed that the northerners are voting for Buhari and the Southerners are voting for GEJ. Not new with us Nigerians
Then again where its not religious i have noticed that the poor people are voting for Buhari and the rich folks r voting GEJ.
I am thinking its because Buhari promised to send them looters to jail.

  41. What's up with the title of your post? Find it a little unpatrotic. If the people want him, then so be it. All we pray for is a leader to take us to a long awaited milestone.
Whoever wins is OUR president and deserves our prayers and support.

  48. Then Nigeria will experience drastic change in a positive manner in the next for years

He has already won as Buhari won 7 states, Ribadu won 1 state and GoodLuck won 24 states out of the 32 states that has been published by a reliable source

    Congrat G E. Jonathan GCFR

  49. lmao @ some dumb people ranting on about linda's title and comment on the post. You obviously dont get the kind of expression she's trying to convene to the readers. Its more of a "and the winner is" then the "..." means more details to follow. its like the use of an oxymoron (go google). Like this is your president and then, is it??? Sigh...

and please whats so unpatriotic about the comment/post???
first of all, he hasn't been declared yet, hence the way linda makes the announcement isn't flawed and isn't being disrespectful to anyone
Secondly, its just an expression of the way she makes the announcement. Hasn't nothing to do on wether she accepts the dude or not, which quite frankly is non of our business.

  51. GEJ all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally, a south south president has emerged. Initially, I felt region matters less than the individual but on a second thought, why must the presidential candidates come from the north and their running mates from the west? if we r truly one nigeria, south east and south south wld've been adopted by cpc and acn. Go GEJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. If he does win, I hope he leads Nigeria into a better and brighter future #thatisall

    ReplyDelete
  53. @ anon 11:34p.m, then why didn't the south-east region present a candidate? why did APGA and LP said they are not presenting a candidate but they will just support a candidate? Why did APGA, an ibo party for that matter was only able to win only a senatorial district in east so far? MAybe and ibo man will become a president in 2050! mugun! The ibos are the dumbest set of people in Nigeria!!!(Apology to all the ibos)
