Quote of the day...

"Only 4 sets of people can vote for the PDP: (1) those who are intellectually blind; (2) those who are blinded by ethnicity; (3) those who are blinded by corruption and therefore afraid of the unknown, should power change hands; and finally (4) those who are suffering from a combination of the above terminal sicknesses.” -Wole Soyinka

  5. Wole is just talking nonsense as always. I have never voted but intend to vote this time....This is such an ambiguous statement to make and I would think that someone of his caliber would think it wiser to leave some things unsaid. This is why I like Chinua Achebe. Silence is not only golden, it is seldom misquoted!

  8. That's his own opinion.....

We're all entitled to our opinion and we dont need any Professor to tell us what to do with our vote.

I'm voting for an individual who i feel deserves my vote and is not an empty noise maker, irrespective of the political party.....

  10. @ shiorrrr

your statement lacks wisdom. at this point, silence is suicide. and wasnt it the wise men who say: the only thing needed for evil to grow is when good men keep quiet.
prof, god bless you. only losers would vote losers.

  12. Baba has spoken. Vote for a man that is tested and trusted. We all saw what he did between 1983 - 1985 (Nigeria glorious years). Again between 1994 and 1999, we alll saw a glimpse of what oil money can do to Nigeria, in terms of maintaining our existing infrastructures. Cast your vote for Buhari

  13. Hi All. Prof Wole Soyinka put out a blurb in the papers yesterday dissociating himself from this statement which has been going around on bbm and texts. he never said this!!!

  14. Kongi, so what have you done to prevent he victory of PDP?Apart from forming your own party.
If men of like passions like yourself do not come together and present a united front against this PDP onslaught, you and your kind will be as guilty as PDP for the coming destruction.

  15. well i respect him but i do not agree with him...he should be smart enough that this is a time to be looking at individuals willing to bring change and not the party...the pdp was led by obj dat is why nigeria went downhill...are u tryin to tell me that fashola was pdp's flag bearer u will not vote for him jst becus it is pdp...lets not forget that the pdp he is insulting gave us donald duke who brought significant change to the city of calabar and gave us rotimi amaechi who is speedingly developing port harcourt...so abeg wole soyinka is not rite...we should look past the party and look at the individuals contesting..that is what if i feel

  21. It is scary that we do not have as many outspoken intellectual Nigerians today as we had in days past in the league of Prof. Soyinka. We have to listen and do what is right and I support him 110%

  25. I still don't understand why Soyinka didn't like Obasanjo. People can hate on OBJ all day but I will say he tried to do a lot for Nigeria. Even, just for the fact that when he left, Nigeria had 45 billion extra and the debt was reduced, I will say he had a vision, was he a perfect man, nobody is, was he corrupt? every politician is corrupt but some are more corrupt than others. After Obasanjo, PDP party went downhill. I will have to agree with Soyinka on this one.
