"I am too busy doing my campaign at the moment and cannot create time for any election debate, don't think I am afraid of the other contestants, far from it, I am just busy campaigning..."- Goodluck E. Jonathan.
GLJ, we do not to search any further for an answer. Will the debate not be a part of your campaighn strategy? You are Indeed afraid of the other contestants. If you ever go for a debate, I pray the put alongside Chris Okotie.
See dis man o! Is debate not part of election campaign!? It is compulsory that debates be held in our election so that the people can hear from both sides and even have a clearer idea of who they want to vote for.
Imagine!!!! isnt election debate part of Campaigning?????? abeg free the guy jor, dont y'all notice he's got stage fright as in the frequent em,em,em when he talks, when he trys to get confident he overdoes it like did during the PDP national convention, what an excuse!!!!shame
How will u all understand what Jona is talking about? Who among u has ever undertaken a presidential campaign 4? When Obama campaigned, was he able to debate?
This is a lame excuse that really sucks! This means that people like Randle, Dominic, and Dosunmu who debated in the Lagos Governorship Debate are better than him. Some months ago, I watched as Gordon Brown confidently debated with David Cameron and Nick Clegg and I felt elated. Not so for Nija! He is so confident that the elections are going to be rigged in his favour anyway. I can't wait to hear the secrets what WikiLeaks will "leak" concerning the election. SSSSHHAAAAMMMEEEE!!!!
Anyway Jonathan has proven that an inept president is an inept president irrespective of wheather he has Alhaji before his name as in Yar Adua or Dr as in Jonathan. Now that we have that fact proven,it is time to move on to electing a credible president.
linda nne,i thought dey said that this ur brother,GEJ, was once a university lecturer, how come he's not willing 2 tell millions of nigerians how intellectually sound he is 2 govern this country,no wonder there has been no significant development in any sector of the economy since he took over.Almighty God, please, deliver us from the hands of PDP(POVERTY DEVELOPMENT PARTY)
I think the debate should go ahead without him. I hope it cost him votes. He doesn't get it that the televised debate can give him more audience than his physical presence can. What da hell is he afraid of? The mortuary in his mouth or closet? He should be scared. Mr President, dont panic. Be not affarid. Fear not. Come, we wan test you. Or are you a fake like the rest of 'em? The good news, though, for him is he is still on this earth despite his wife declaring herself a widow. Sit down, madam president's wife. Can you imagine. She called herself a widow. Is she planning anything. Hmmm. If I was GEJ, I won't eat her food or pineapple anymore. The good news is she wont be expected to open her grammar annihilating mouth.
Your excellency, GOOD LUCK, it takes more than GOOD LUCK to run a country like Nigeria. In this 21st Century, if you do not have time for debate, which is supposed to be a platform to showcase your policies (economic and social) to Nigerians, you are simply asking us to vote PDP out and we shall comply accordingly. Does any one still have doubts about massively voting Papa Deceive Pickin (PDP) out?. Let us vote for the opposition parties.
Late MKO Abiola was a stamerre and he debated along with Tofa. So as an acadmician (eloquent or not) he should be able to debate. Olumba Olumba will not safe you GEJ We will vote you out, A bad example to 9ija graduates.
Honestly, I think it about time we have "ghana type revolution" in nigeria. All these leaders are just in power to get their own share of the piece of pie......WE NEED REVOLUTION IN NIGERIA, it might not happen now but I know it will happen...write it down
He looks and acts dumb..the only reason why people are rooting for him is 'cos he hails from Delta but more to the point not Hausa\Fulani..but ah beg this man is pathetic..if he wasn't his wife wouldn't be so uncouth and untrained..cannot even keep his own house in order but wants to rule the country..I really hope he loses..olo do..he probably bought his Phd..which he started using when he became President..
@Ade...You don't know where your president comes from, and you are Nigerian..He is from Baylesa State, which is in the Niger-Delta region.. Who is the olodo? You or Goodluck? I am Niger-Delta! Yes I will vote for him. I am fed up of yorubas and Hausas stealing our resources and messing up our country.Maybe, we should the split the country??
8.01pm - You are voting for Goodluck Jonathan solely because he is from Bayelsa and you are tired of Yorubas and Hausas stealing "your" resources? I hope to God that you are not serious! Shouldn't you vote for the BEST man for the job? Statements like yours are exactly the reason why Nigeria will never ever progress beyond tribal politics! Nigeria will never truly be a democratic state devoid to tribal rivalry and with the geniune national interests of everyone being up held.
Goodluck Jonathan's statement is an indicative of a leader who does not care what his people want nor does he care to impress upon his people his desire to hear them out thereby helping alleviate the issues that pain his people. He is "busy" campaigning...more like busy buying votes! You are too busy to explain your platform? Explain WHY people should let you EARNED the job you had fell into by a stroke of luck? UNfreakingReal!
God, that country needs your help! Please HELP Nigeria, give us a messiah! Give us our own Nelson Mandela, someone to fight for THE PEOPLE, someone to help us break the bounds of ineptitude, bribery, corruption and selfishness!
this is the reason why when we are asked to pray for our Nation, we should really go down on our knees and pray. Imagine this type of statement from our presidential candidate
Nuff respect @ChiChliLuv..well articulated @Anon 80.01PM or whatever u are..seen my name..ur tribal prejudice kicks in and mentioning Hausa\Fulani you put one and one together..pathetic..who cares if he's from Balyelsa..they all the same Ijaw..Delta..same people only tribalist like u make a meal of it..what difference does it make to a Yoruba when I mention Ibadan or lagos an Ibo man from Owerri or Enugu..common sense should prevail..obviously doesn't resonate with u..it's nothing to do with where he comes from if he were Yoruba I would have said same..but Yorubas 'cos of pride would never vote for him if he were one..ask Obasanjo..it's a new day..a new dawn...9ja needs the best man..even if he comes from the moon not because of where he comes from..what has he achieved??..if he had done some good..I tell you this man would never have to campaign..unlike you enough people know the only reason why he might win is because of rigging and PDP hired asssasins..as someone rightly said..he's busy giving out live fowls..rice and goats at the grassroots level..

Debates are civilized and democratic way of selling your manifestos, and protecting them while they are been hacked down by opponents. You dont have to win, you dont have to sound eloquent, you just have to believe in your message. Shows me GEJ doesnt even believe in his vision. I am highly disappointed, and come April when im back in this country, I will beg every single person in my family to vote Ribadu. I wonder which university this man even got his Phd from. What a fraud!
He's a big let down. From the get go, I've been suspicious of him, and the closer we get to elections, the more the man's mess dey smell pass fowl own. The sad thing is because we want change, we'll take any clown so long as he hasnt been in power b4...smh
Please people I'd rather take an educated Northerner than a silly Southerner. This is nonsense! If this is the change that is available, take me back to IBB and military regime o jare, at least one knows exactly where they stand!!!
GEJ is not a democrat.Honouring d election debate is part of democracy.Let his goodluck not turn to badluck for Nigeria.Luck has nothing to do with being ready to work,& to cause change. He should go &get an English tutor for d wife rather dan parading her ignorance & unskillful use of English ,giving us an international disgrace.

@Ade...Ijaws are made up of different tribes and customs. There is nothing wrong in acknowledging and respecting our diversity. Balyesa is different from Delta. We have different dialects. Yes, We are Niger-Deltans, but we understand and value our differences. It is not tribalism .We are still one with our different dialects and customs. You can't lump different groups of people together. Your ignorance speaks for itself. This has been a major problem in Nigeria. Lumping minor groups under the three major tribes. Urhobo and Itsekiri of Delta state don't speak the same dialect with the Nembe and Atissa of Balyesa state. In addition, They have different problems. When you lump tribes together, you marginalize and neglect their identity and problems. Please educate and enlighten yourself about the various groups in our beloved country. Then as as country, we can go about solving the problems in Nigeria. How can we solve the problems in Nigeria when most of us don't know about the various tribes that make up the country. It is sad!!
"far from it indeed"! GEJ please spare us. Will you be saying anything different in the debate? or is the debate not a platform for you to tell the people of Nigeria about the "wonderful" things you intend to do when elected? Linda,"na real quote of the day"
With all due respect but this is the most stupid excuse iv ever heard, its even making me have second thoughts about this man, what does he mean by he is too busy campaigning, isn't fashola and co campaigning and besides bringing out one day out of his so called busy schedule, will that change his campaign or whatever.... infact im so vexed right now by this his useless excuse loool
According to some people, the man has tried and should continue. shame on them. with the with our foreign depleted by a massive $40 billion dollars, this man cannot point to a single achievement in 12 months as President.
Wow, I thought the problem of Nigerians not knowing the other ethnic groups in Nigeria besides Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba only existed in the Diaspora but judging from ignorant Ade_Cool, it exists in people who actually live in Nigeria. Forgive me if you don't live in Nigeria. Well, I actually don't give a f**k because I'm sick and tired of Nigerians who aren't aware of their diverse cultures. My parents are from Bayelsa. I'm Ijaw, duh! You will be amazed by the number of Nigerians who aren't aware of who their current president is. Please, don't even bother asking where he's from.
Ignorant Ade_Cool, people in the Delta are not all Ijaws. For example: Delta states comprises of Igbo, Isoko, Ishekiris and many other ethnic groups. How do I know this? I read! I'm not privileged enough to grow up around my culture (Ijaw and Nigeria), so I read. I read about the Idomas, the Tivs, the Efiks, the Yorubas, Fulanis, Igbos, etc. I will never make the mistake of associating a Tiv girl as Hausa, or an Edo girl as Yoruba. Why? because these are all distinct cultures. Even after Anonymous corrected you, you still had the audacity to lump these diverse cultures together. That is why I call you ignorant, my dear Ade_Cool.
Concerning your analogy: A Yoruba from Lagos would still be a Yoruba in Abeokuta. That is because he/she IS Yoruba. The same does not apply to the people in the Delta or other regions in Nigeria that came about due to the clamor for a state by people who didn't want to be lumped into the same states as the main ethnic groups.
To anonymous that asked how knowing how diverse we are can solve our problems: Let me help the Ijaw anonymous out.
Before Nigeria was born and before the British had the protectorates, current day Nigeria was made up of a bunch of ethnic groups. Yes, there were ethnic wars but they weren't significant in the sense that policies weren't made that governed multiple ethnic groups. Then came 1960 and all that changed. Now, Nigeria is made up of groups of people who have never dealt with each other politically. Then comes super-group, mainly the Igbo Empire, Yoruba Empire, and Hausa Empire. Basically, they run shit. Other empires are shut out including the Great Benin Empire (the greatest empire of all in my opinion) in the quest for power. By addressing the need of the main groups, you are shutting out the needs of the others. Every region of Nigeria faces a different plague. Niger Delta = Gas flaring, unfit soil for farming and unfit waters for fishing. Groups of people are not represented well in political offices. When we are aware of the diverse cultures in our nation, we are addressing the needs of every culture. It wouldn't solve our problems on a bigger scale but it's a step in the right direction. America wouldn't be where it is today if after the civil war, Southerners were not allowed in Congress or if it didn't realize that the north and south faced different problems.
I was an avid GEJ supporter being an Ijaw girl and I was excited that for once a non-major ethnic group member was our president. I blindly supported him but somewhere down the line I reassessed why I supported him. He lacks transparency in office and makes the dumbest decisions ever. So, I'm no longer a supporter. It doesn't matter anyway because I can't vote since I'm not based in Nigeria but if I was, I wouldn't vote for him. We shouldn't vote for people just because they are from the same region as we are. So on that note I disagree with Ijaw Anonymous and agree with Chi.I really hope he was joking about not having time to debate. His decision not to debate should be sending red flags to each and every Nigerian.
Zizi...Thank you!!! Well said! God bless you! I too am Ijaw, and although I wont be rooting for GEJ, I HATE the realization that more than half of Niigeria dooesn't realize the re is a lot more than Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba to Nigeria. Adeuncool is just one of the teeming Nigerians who are clueless in this regards. Whenever I visit Nigeria, I'm called Omo-igbo in Lagos. I am aware that Yoruba land is made up of Egba people, Ijebus and other mini tribes so to speak under the big umbrella and in the Igbo speaking parts, there are the people from accross the Niger who refer to themselves as Ibos mostly from Delta State. Even in the Igbo land proper, the Anambra's see themselves as different as they are said to have migrated from the old Bini Kingdom. In Northern Nigeria, there are so many different tribes...some are Kanuri, Fulaniand Hausa to name a few.
Adeuncool, be informed!! People votinh GEJ because he's from the Niger Delta need to do a reassessment! Sorry about any mis-spellings, I need to go to class now!
@izonbabe Please cut me some slack..u all come here snarling like dogs(clean version) on heat on any opposition to the messiah.. What part didn't you understand..no wonder we saddled with GEJ and his wife when the Electorate cannot understand simple things.. Just chill..who isn't aware of the tribal demarcations in Nigeria..don't try schooling me..try GEJ..someone makes a generalisation and you run with it..just come with it..just because I'm not impressed with GEJ..u trying to ram all this supposed ignorance of the tribal groupings in 9ja down my neck.. Again GEJ is as dry and thick as two planks..to be honest all the candidates stink to the high heavens..but would be interested in what GEJ does when he does get in..but trust me he would be on trialfrom the get-go..and might not last for more than 1 term..
Adecool READ!!! izonbabe and zizi never said dy were suppportin goodluck, they only commented on your ignorance! You are a Bitch for real!!! (uncensored)
Izonbabe, I know you're a true Izon girl by your handle :) Izon a do!
Ade_Cool
You are a very uneducated somebori... If you kindly read, you will notice that neither Izonbabe nor I are supporters of GEJ and we are both Ijaws. I didn't come at your neck with "tribal demarcations" because you didn't support GEJ, I came at it because you generalized that all people in the Delta are Ijaws. I don't care if you support GEJ or not. Shit, I DON'T support him anymore.
I'm not in the mood to educate you tonight but please avoid using tribes to explain the various ethnic groups in Nigeria. We are not tribes. We were never tribes. Tribe was a word used by the "visitors" to make us look archaic, ancient, uncivilized and backwards.
It's funny how a lot of the readers here are not supporters of GEJ. Yet, we speak of him as our next president. It's like we already know the outcome of the elections. We need to stop being complacent and make sure every vote counts (preferable only once). Hehe... Who am I kidding? that is Nigeria for you. We don't have the balls to rebel like Egypt, Libya etc. O. and according to the constitution, GEJ can't run again after this year. Damn! Do Nigerians still read?
I believe the statement shows one of two things, either Mr President is really scared and wishes to avoid any further embarassements or his campaign managers feel that a debate that will showcase his plans for the nation, to the nation is of no importance and not part of a campaing. It makes me wonder about his promise for free and fair elections.Prior to this I was wishing good luck for Nigeria but now I am starting to think Ribadu is a reality. Anyway i'll wait for the debate.
@na me talk am A Bitch u say!!..takes one to know one..bet u the one who is looking like a bitch here..all 3 of u foaming at the mouth like hungry hyenas would take you all on..that's you done..now for those 2 other clowns..I can go smooth or ghetto..choose ur weapon carefully
@zizi or @izonbabe who cares really..first u insult me then u telling me to kindly read.. Tribes..Ethnicities what's the biggie all the same to me..who mentioned only Ijaws are from the Delta..when I mention Delta I'm talking about the whole Riverine Region not just pockets of people here and there..yet u wanted to prove a point..when's your Encyclopedia comomg out then??why not try and help ur country woman..GEJ's wifey..she's the one that needs educating from her recent utterances.. As for ur sweethear GEJ..he thinks PDP is Nigeria..just 'cos he trounced Atiku..he thinks victory is guaranteed
@ Zizi....thanks for having my back! I just remembered I dropped a line and wanted to see if anything followed my last comment....Not surprised by Adeuncool's (uncouth, really) offerings....
What is to be expected of a person who is mediocre at best? You don't know anything about a country you claim as yours yet you have the nerve to criticise GEJ.
I say again. Even if I lived in 9ja, I wouldn't necessarily vote for him...the worst thing would be to vote for someone because he belongs to my tribe. That just off! I leave you to your mediocrity!
I remain, to you until you wake up, pick up History books and read......proudly and loudly Omoigbo!!! (izonbabe signing out for the last time on this issue!!)
@zizi @izonbabe Are u joined at the hips??..u started the abuse..u like to give but cannot receive.. I didn't come here to argue or pick figths..my life is hectic so I come here to unwind..cannot believe I exchanged words with u!! You could have put your point across without being abusive.. Don't forget to help urself to GEJ's biscuits on ur way out of this post Ur last sentence said it all..all down to the most primal of instincts..prejudice..ur words omo igbo for life!!
ibeg ibeg ibeg GEJ should just shuussssSSSh....as in Shusshhhhh.
ReplyDeletehow many hours will a debate take.....???.
he should go and sit under his wife"s UNBLERA!!!

linda nne,i thought dey said that this ur brother,GEJ, was once a university lecturer, how come he's not willing 2 tell millions of nigerians how intellectually sound he is 2 govern this country,no wonder there has been no significant development in any sector of the economy since he took over.Almighty God, please, deliver us from the hands of PDP(POVERTY DEVELOPMENT PARTY)
ReplyDeleteI think the debate should go ahead without him.
ReplyDeletemy great president don run...hmmm
ReplyDeleteHe's got nothing to say on how to improve the plight of the masses apart from sharing gov't contracts
ReplyDeleteYour excellency, GOOD LUCK, it takes more than GOOD LUCK to run a country like Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteLate MKO Abiola was a stamerre and he debated along with Tofa.
ReplyDeleteSo as an acadmician (eloquent or not) he should be able to debate.
Olumba Olumba will not safe you GEJ
We will vote you out, A bad example to 9ija graduates.
Hey! Don't leave me in the dark! What's Olumba Olumba? Is it a cult or someone or organisation? I'm going to google it. Olumba Olumba sounds sinister.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think it about time we have "ghana type revolution" in nigeria. All these leaders are just in power to get their own share of the piece of pie......WE NEED REVOLUTION IN NIGERIA, it might not happen now but I know it will happen...write it down
ReplyDeleteHe looks and acts dumb..the only reason why people are rooting for him is 'cos he hails from Delta but more to the point not Hausa\Fulani..but ah beg this man is pathetic..if he wasn't his wife wouldn't be so uncouth and untrained..cannot even keep his own house in order but wants to rule the country..I really hope he loses..olo do..he probably bought his Phd..which he started using when he became President..
ReplyDelete@ Anon 6:48PM, abeg no kill me with laff o.
ReplyDeleteOnly in naija...and people will still vote for him.
ReplyDelete8.01pm - You are voting for Goodluck Jonathan solely because he is from Bayelsa and you are tired of Yorubas and Hausas stealing "your" resources? I hope to God that you are not serious! Shouldn't you vote for the BEST man for the job? Statements like yours are exactly the reason why Nigeria will never ever progress beyond tribal politics! Nigeria will never truly be a democratic state devoid to tribal rivalry and with the geniune national interests of everyone being up held.
ReplyDeleteGoodluck Jonathan's statement is an indicative of a leader who does not care what his people want nor does he care to impress upon his people his desire to hear them out thereby helping alleviate the issues that pain his people.
ReplyDeleteNuff respect @ChiChliLuv..well articulated
ReplyDelete@Anon 80.01PM or whatever u are..seen my name..ur tribal prejudice kicks in and mentioning Hausa\Fulani you put one and one together..pathetic..who cares if he's from Balyelsa..they all the same Ijaw..Delta..same people only tribalist like u make a meal of it..what difference does it make to a Yoruba when I mention Ibadan or lagos an Ibo man from Owerri or Enugu..common sense should prevail..obviously doesn't resonate with u..it's nothing to do with where he comes from if he were Yoruba I would have said same..but Yorubas 'cos of pride would never vote for him if he were one..ask Obasanjo..it's a new day..a new dawn...9ja needs the best man..even if he comes from the moon not because of where he comes from..what has he achieved??..if he had done some good..I tell you this man would never have to campaign..unlike you enough people know the only reason why he might win is because of rigging and PDP hired asssasins..as someone rightly said..he's busy giving out live fowls..rice and goats at the grassroots level..

the prez is a fucken moron!
ReplyDeletestill many fools will vote him. shame shame shame!
this man is a clown.
ReplyDeleteDebates are civilized and democratic way of selling your manifestos, and protecting them while they are been hacked down by opponents. You dont have to win, you dont have to sound eloquent, you just have to believe in your message.
ReplyDeleteShows me GEJ doesnt even believe in his vision.
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is because we want change, we'll take any clown so long as he hasnt been in power b4...smh
Please people I'd rather take an educated Northerner than a silly Southerner. This is nonsense! If this is the change that is available, take me back to IBB and military regime o jare, at least one knows exactly where they stand!!!
ReplyDeleteGEJ is not a democrat.Honouring d election debate is part of democracy.Let his goodluck not turn to badluck for Nigeria.Luck has nothing to do with being ready to work,& to cause change. He should go &get an English tutor for d wife rather dan parading her ignorance & unskillful use of English ,giving us an international disgrace.

ReplyDelete@Ade...Ijaws are made up of different tribes and customs. It is sad!!
ReplyDelete"far from it indeed"! GEJ please spare us. Will you be saying anything different in the debate? or is the debate not a platform for you to tell the people of Nigeria about the "wonderful" things you intend to do when elected? Linda,"na real quote of the day"
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:01 or Bayelsa Nigerian.
ReplyDeletePls can u help me out with 3 reasons why knowing how diverse we are will solve our problems.
ReplyDeleteAccording to some people, the man has tried and should continue. shame on them. with the with our foreign depleted by a massive $40 billion dollars, this man cannot point to a single achievement in 12 months as President.
ReplyDeleteWow, I thought the problem of Nigerians not knowing the other ethnic groups in Nigeria besides Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba only existed in the Diaspora but judging from ignorant Ade_Cool, it exists in people who actually live in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteIgnorant Ade_Cool, people in the Delta are not all Ijaws.
ReplyDeleteAdeuncool is just one of the teeming Nigerians who are clueless in this regards.
@izonbabe
ReplyDeletePlease cut me some slack..u all come here snarling like dogs(clean version) on heat on any opposition to the messiah..
ReplyDeleteIzonbabe, I know you're a true Izon girl by your handle :) Izon a do!
ReplyDeleteAde_Cool
ReplyDelete@na me talk am
ReplyDeleteA Bitch u say!!..takes one to know one..bet u the one who is looking like a bitch here..all 3 of u foaming at the mouth like hungry hyenas would take you all on..that's you done..now for those 2 other clowns..I can go smooth or ghetto..choose ur weapon carefully
@zizi or @izonbabe who cares really..first u insult me then u telling me to kindly read..
ReplyDeleteTribes..Ethnicities what's the biggie all the same to me..who mentioned only Ijaws are from the Delta..when I mention Delta I'm talking about the whole Riverine Region not just pockets of people here and there..yet u wanted to prove a point..when's your Encyclopedia comomg out then??why not try and help ur country woman..GEJ's wifey..she's the one that needs educating from her recent utterances..
As for ur sweethear GEJ..he thinks PDP is Nigeria..just 'cos he trounced Atiku..he thinks victory is guaranteed
Ade_Cool.
ReplyDeleteYou're an utter fool. Silence is the best answer for a fool like you, so peace out. Agbaya olodo. Ade_cool my ass. Peace out...
@ Zizi....thanks for having my back! I just remembered I dropped a line and wanted to see if anything followed my last comment....Not surprised by Adeuncool's (uncouth, really) offerings....
ReplyDeleteWhat is to be expected of a person who is mediocre at best? You don't know anything about a country you claim as yours yet you have the nerve to criticise GEJ.
I say again. Even if I lived in 9ja, I wouldn't necessarily vote for him...the worst thing would be to vote for someone because he belongs to my tribe. That just off! I leave you to your mediocrity!
I remain, to you until you wake up, pick up History books and read......proudly and loudly Omoigbo!!!
(izonbabe signing out for the last time on this issue!!)
@zizi @izonbabe
ReplyDeleteAre u joined at the hips??..u started the abuse..u like to give but cannot receive..
I didn't come here to argue or pick figths..my life is hectic so I come here to unwind..cannot believe I exchanged words with u!!
You could have put your point across without being abusive..
Don't forget to help urself to GEJ's biscuits on ur way out of this post
Ur last sentence said it all..all down to the most primal of instincts..prejudice..ur words omo igbo for life!!
