The Senate yesterday Feb 9 threw out the nomination of Justice Pius Olayiwola Aderemi (72), as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Aderemi, a retired Supreme Court justice was dropped by the Senators on account of incompetence citing his old age.

President Goodluck Jonathan had nominated Aderemi in December as head of the anti-graft agency.
Had his nomination succeeded, Aderemi would have become the third retired Supreme Court Judge to head the commission. He was to succeed Emmanuel Ayoola, another retired Supreme Court judge.

Kudos to the senate for rejecting the nominee. Why should a man who is nearer to his grave be given such a sensitive post. We should learn how to do the right thing in this country, if Nigeria must move forward.
