The Figurine screens at the 19th Annual Pan African Film Festival

  
Award winning Actor/ Film maker, Kunle Afolayan introduced his latest project, The Figurine at, the 19th  Annual Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, California. The 2-day screening was received with rave reviews.



A Letter from the renowned African writer, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o  who, was also at the Screening, acknowledged Afolayan as an excellent Actor and Director. "The Figurine is outstanding in the conception of the narrative, its execution in terms of Camera work, editing, acting, and it's all done in Nigeria. It's a truly African film, it made us, Njeeri and I, feel tall, well, proud." he stated.  Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o  is considered one of East Africa's most eminent literary figures. Since the early 1960s, wa Thiong'o has produced a number of novels, plays, and critical essays--both in English and in Kenya's indigenous Gikuyu language. On Mr.Afolayan's experience at this years event, he had this to say "Yesterday was another night of good memories and, great reviews from the audience. African Filmmakers are ready to prove to the world that folktale and story telling started in Africa." He stated.

Prior to the screening at the Pan African Film Festival, The Figurine  premiered to a packed audience at the FunAsia  Bollywood Cinema in Houston, Texas. Organized in partnership with Houston based, Taiwo Solanke, the Premiere was a huge success.
