Buhari Picks Tunde Bakare As Running Mate

The Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Muhammadu Buhari, Yesterday Monday Jan 31 picked the Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare, as his running mate in the April election. Buhari, through his spokesperson, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said the choice of Bakare was based on the need, “to put the best feet forward in what promises to be a decisive political challenge for the soul of Nigeria.”

What the heck does he want to be vice president for? I mean, is there...Anyway, let me reserve my comment until he accepts to run with Buhari...

  1. I still think religion and politics should not mix. Two hardliners coming together cannot be easy and how will they marry their views? Buhari with his sharia stance and Bakare with his God said stance. The little bit of respect i had for Bakare has now gone. As for Buhari, once a politician, always a politician. Epic fail. GEJ must be laughing with OBJ

  2. YES linda, leave the men of God alone. Why cant he run for vice president? so sambo, atiku, GJ or any other deluded politician can run for office but not men of God.
He is a ctizen and has the right to run abeg

  3. You appear ignorant with these your comments. Would you rather corrupt men in seats of government? Why cant a "man of God" who has the necessary qualifications go into politics. Must somebody do only one thing with their life? You are obviously uneducated.

  4. Linda, as I was driving to the office this morning, I saw a sticker at the back of a car ahead of me which reads :

    "SHUT UP!!! ARE YOU GOD

  5. What do u mean be "what the heck does he want to be vice president for?"
Is there a law that forbids men of God from ruling?

  7. Atleast, that leaves a whole bunch ignorant Christians quiet. i wonder what a man religious affiliation has got to do with been a leader. xtains are always threatened somewhat when they hear buharis name and they start screaming sharia. atleast now they keep quiet and vote someone who has better experience and integrity and dumb_luck

  8. Linda, what a disappointment you are. Thisis someone with a proven track record - he single handedly ensured that the politicians adhere to the constitution during yar'adua saga. Has he not proven his worth? Where other so called men of God are sitting in their humongous churches lying to the people that it is the devil that is the cause of their problems instead of speaking the truth that it is bad leadership.

Who else should vie for the position? the corrupt idiots in power? You need to educate yourself and broaden your mind. He is a Pastor, yes, but there is no where in the Bible or constitution that stops men of God vying for leadership position. Damn girl! If you want to talk about thieving pastors, then bring out evidence that Bakare has stolen or shut up. This is not the time to speak out of your ass...

The duo is a fantasctic combination, i hope they win.

  9. 2 men of integrity. No one can claim Buhari is trying to push a religious agenda, not with Bakare as a running mate...

Classic Buhari, tribal/ethnic/religious sentiments have been shown to be irrelevant...

    I wish this ticket success...

  10. So because he drives a hummer and lives in a hotel he deserves to be abducted, and because she allegedly sleeps around she deserves to be abducted too?

    Wow.

As for comments being from KC and QC alums, what the? What's the basis of that speculation? Seems to me some folks are jealous of so many things...

  11. PLEASE tell me why he shouldn't and cant't run.

Doctors can run, lawyers can run business owners can run housewives can run, retired personels can run...so why not a man of God.

He is a Nigerian, he is passionate about his country, he worries about his country, he may or may not have the solution but HE CAN RUN.

WHAT MAKES GEJ OR SAMBO OR BUHARI OR RIBADU MORE QUALIFIED TO RUN. I AWAIT YOUR ANSWER LINDA.

  14. Linda, i have always held out some hope that you are intelligent.
The popularity of this blog seems to be confusing you.
I am not a big fan of Bakare nor Buhari but they are a better pair than the lot of inept barbarians that are ruining our commonwealth at present.
You can't be more born again than i am yet i will rather vote for Buhari who has the will to confront our collective problems than a Goodluck who is just more of the same. As important as religion is to Nigerians, Goodluck/Sambo might be moderates but see the big hole their moderation is leading us to.As funny as Chris Okotie's aspirations are, he makes more sense when he talks about his plans than Jonathan has ever made, irrespective of the 100s' of advisers at his beck and call.
Do you think that with Bakare by his side Buhari will just wake up and islamize the whloe country? What is the NASS for?
I can enjoy some of your banter about pastors for fun sake but learn when to put on your thinking cap when we are discussing our collective destiny.
Bakare might not succeed after all.His pastor brothers will be granted audience at Aso Rock (and whatever comes with it) and go and praise mediocrity from their pulpits. These pastors like most Nigerians are very short sighted and their bellies are their gods.
I wish Buhari/Bakare all the best. They have my vote as long as they are the best in the field, religion has no part in my decision whatsoever.

  15. i'm with linda on this one ooo...ah wat is he going to do dere?

    ReplyDelete
  16. what is he not going to do there?
Being a pastor is a vocation.
Being a Christian is a lifestyle.
It is not as if he will stop being a Christian in Aso Rock.
He is not the founder of his church, Jesus is the founder, he is simply the pastor of a local assembly.
These pastors are mere mortals, you know!!
They are flesh and blood. What concerns you and me concerns them too.
Don't fall for that scam that they are anything else.

  17. What wouldnt he go and do there? we keep saying we need a change and we do not want a change physically, we only talk about it in our offices, free readers stands, bar,at home but we never put them to action. Do we now leave the place for corrupt politicians, even God said it ' l am the Lord and l rule in the affairs of men' so he is over qualified to run if he want to. Yes we can a change for once.

  18. The best pair I've seen so far. They get my vote expressly!!!! People are crying GEJ, while he sits silently in Aso Rock as his countrymen die in Borno and Jos. They say he is a Christian. Where are his values?? I wuld rather vote for Buhari a practising Muslim with integrity. Nigeria must change. Go BUHARI/BAKARE.

  19. What is he going to do there is a totally irrelevant question.
Why cant a "man of God" with Bakare pedigree and qualifications go into politics?
This is not an issue we should laugh about, but think and think hard on what is best for Nigeria by voting for the right leaders to Move Nigeria to the next level.

  20. GEJ is member of Olumba Olumba!
I have my proof and fact!
Best pair so far BB, Got my vote anyday bro

  21. i think linda's point is that pastors are servants of God not man so they should have no business with earthly affairs...politics et al.so i get what she's trying to say.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @ Obehi Okoawo, cant agree with you more, WE REALLY NEED TO THINK AND THINK ABOUT THIS HARD...

Sometimes i wonder if we(nigerians ever consider the future of our country and our children

  23. Joseph (in scripture) was a godly man too, infact he was a 'man of God' cause he carried God's Spirit and presence yet he rose to become Prime Minister of Israel and the scriptures tell us he ''taught the senators of Egypt wisdom''
There is abolutely nothing wrong with a man of God going into politics as long as He is led of the Lord. I can only hope and pray the Buhari/ Bakare ticket is Gods agenda

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wot is the criteria used to nullify a Clergy man to run for a Political post? most Prophets sent by God were Leaders and controllers of worldly issues with a Scripture being given onto them.
If we close our eyes for a Bad people to pass by, we wont know the exact time Good people will be passing by as well.
    Nigeria..... enough is enough!

  25. i just found out why tghis country has not moved forward in 50 years...
People dont want good men in office! they'd rather politicians who cant count their fingers. you dont want Bakare to run for vp but you grew up under shagari, abacha, babangida, abubakar, shonekan, OBJ X 3, the sick Yar Adua (RIP)and the woefully incompetent Jonathan..... But Tunde Bakare should not run???

    ReplyDelete
  26. why on earth is Buhari contesting again? What does he want to do this time that he did not do while he was president? Buhari or Atiku, I am not sure who is worse but this time around, with INEC's new system, our votes must count! In Europe and the US, there is a separation of the churh from the state otherwise it could led to a conflict of interest, so Tunde Bakare must decide whether he wants to be a pastor or a politician- he can't have it both ways. I'm with Linda on this one

  27. Linda,
I am a big fan of your blog and i like you very much as a person ( I used to model with you back in the days) but i will have to completely disagree with you on this issue.
Corruption will forever be the order of the day if good men keep silent. Nigerians like to criticize without lifting a finger.
How many of us have really tried to do anything to help the situation of our dear country except complain. Now, we have men with proven record of intergrity coming out to contest and you can do is critize. Please go and study the bible for yourself and you will find out that this is not the first time a pastor/prophet is going into politics
