Air Drake...wowsa! Rapper, Drake, gets airplane named after him...

You have definitely arrived when they name a plane after you.

Toronto rapper Aubrey "Drake" Graham has become the first hip-hop artist to have a commercial airplane named after him. It was all in celebration of Sir Richard Branson launching his first Virgin flight between Toronto and California cities.

"It's breathtaking to stand out here and stare at this plane," Drake said shortly after arriving in Toronto with Virgin Group chairman Sir Richard Branson on the plane's inaugural flight. "It's phenomenal."

"We're honoured to name our plane Air Drake. He's Canadian through and through; he's one of the most successful Canadians. He bridges the gap between Canada and America very successfully." echoed Branson.

FG bans Super Eagles for two years

I'm sure you all have heard. Jonathan Goodluck The Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Nigeria from all international football tournaments organised by FIFA and related events for two years.
Their reason? To enable the country to properly reorganize the sector.

The NFF was also dissolved. And there's been an order to probe the N900 million spent on our participation at the 2010 World cup.

By this ban, it means we will miss the next African Cup of Nations in 2012 and probably the next World Cup scheduled for Brazil in 2014.

What do you guys think of this decision to ban the Super Eagles? Is a welcome development or is it rather rash?
Pls share your thoughts.

Lagos State Assembly Stalls Ban On Okada.

The Lagos State House of Assembly, South-West Nigeria, has frustrated the move by the Ministry of Transportation to stop commercial motorcycle riders, popularly called okada, from carrying pregnant women, children of school age and women with children stapped on their backs.
The lawmakers, while complaining that the Ministry did not consult with the House before taking such decision, also said the enforcement which was supposed to begin from today should be stopped forthwith. They, however, asked the ministry to forward any proposal to that effect to the House for consideration. The lawmakers further asked the Commissioner to stop officials of his ministry and the Task force officials from arresting riders arbitrarily while accusing officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) of corruption.

"I will run again in 2011" Pastor Chris Okotie

"It was a divine call to duty to salvage our beloved country from the in-ept, corrupt and purposeless leadership of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Without any doubt, I remain fully persuaded that only the emergence of a credible, visionary and progressive government can usher in a new Nigeria of our dream. And I am confident that I represent this ideal and with my fresh agenda, we can create a new nation which will take its rightful place in the comity of nations.” - Rev. CHRIS OKOTIE, Pastor of Household of God, said this morning as he officially declared his intention to vie for the presidency of Nigeria under the platform of the Fresh Democratic Party (FDP).

You don't have to drink eight glasses of water everyday...??

A recent study determined that 'drink EIGHT glasses of water a day' is more urban myth than science-backed.

“No one knows where it originated, but it isn’t true. The average person does not need to consume this or any set amount of water. In fact most of suck down more than enough liquid via coffee, sodas as well as food sources like fruit and grains. “Eight glasses of water on top of this is overkill. The best water advice is to grab a drink whenever you feel thirsty. Thirst is a sign that your body needs fluid, not that you are already dehydrated.” explains Steven G. Aldana, PHD, professor of health and human performance at Brigham University in Utah

Kidnap scare hits Nigerian students in Malaysia

Have Naija kidnappers moved their trade to Malaysia?

The young man pictured above, Auwal Dankaka Hussain, was kidnapped in Malaysia and has got other Nigerians worried that it will become a trend. Auwal was kidnapped while waiting for a bus. Then the kidnappers asked three of his friends to contribute RM10, 000 (N500, 000) each for his release.  The ransom was then slashed to $1,000 according to the Nigerian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mr. Peter J. E. Anegheh.

This incident happened many weeks back...kinda stale, but worth reporting...

Munachi Abii signs with RMG company

Munachi Abii, former beauty queen (MBGN 2007), signs to The RMG Company as a solo rap artiste. Over the last couple of years 'Muna' has expressed her intention to throw her tiara into the rap game, with appearances and features on songs by other artistes' like Banky W, Ikechukwu (Killz), Jesse Jagz and Waje. Now she has started recording her yet untitled debut album due out early next year and has just recorded a song called Pop Sugar with another RMG artiste Michael Word (the song is produced by Sarz).

Her rap style is so eclectic and 'free range' that many who only see her as a pretty face will be pleasantly surprised (or shocked). Muna (AKA "Baby Rella") will record her album with producers in Nigeria, the UK/Europe, and in the United States where she hopes to pursue her other entertainment interest as well.

You go girl!!!
