Though no official statement has been issued by Glo, but sources say the koko master was dropped after he refused to sign a new contract extension after his fee was dropped from N70m (for two years) to far N25m.
D'Banj felt insulted by the new fee, which sources say is less than what was offered P-Square, so refused to extend his contract.
But despite the end of the business relationship, D'Banj's photographs will still be used in all Glo promotional materials until his initial contract elapses.*
I run a modeling agency and my models have featured on a few Glo billboards. Glo doesn't pay models more than 300grand for a year's contract. A far cry from N25m a year for a celeb...which they are even rejecting.
See why models in Nigeria don't have money? Imagine they pay models just a fraction of what these celebs get...oh well, one day sha..:-)
it makes sense to decline receiving less than u av bn getting. It speaks of class and self...
ReplyDeletefinally!!!!!!!! whew..... make anoda persin chop too no b only am go chop
ReplyDeletehe's in decline...he'll soon return. that's the truth..the good musicians will always be respected money or not while the likes of dbanj will obviously fail. i think he's a good guy but he's not focused..doesn't know what to do with his life..
ReplyDeletelinda...about ur models...it's not only in nigeira. how many models in the world earn more than musicians or actors...besides tehy're not celebrities...actresses/actors are now taking modelling jobs (halle berry, beyonce, rihanna, mccnaughey, etc) meant for models. in reality, models r like mannequins...victoria's secret has done it's fair share to expose some of them a la Gisele, Adriana..if not. that's why they're constantly travelling looking for jobs..unless u r a supermodel..and there r only a handful.so since modelling is not big in Nigeria, i think the fees will definitely be low. 300,000 is something.
ReplyDeleteDAPO you had better GO back and grab the cheque and keep mute..Fame drys up like spirits these days..They don't have long-shelve-life any more ...wise up dude and grab what you can NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen a model become a house hold name and a brand that can sell products then they will earn as much as celebs. It is about the brand name and follwership the celeb has already has.so it is understandable that they pay them more than models.
ReplyDeleteDbanj really????his new singles suck and he is doing strong head
i'm not saying models should be paid as much...of course that's not going to happen...its endorsement, its far bigger than modeling. i'm only hoping for a fraction of all the millions these celebs are offered. maybe then some models will be able to afford to buy a car or something....
ReplyDeleteGlo's perspective would have been.. we overpaid him 2yrs ago, that could get us all the others put together, unfortuantely, most 9ja brands don't even need this models to sell... and there are just a handful of companies that would pay him that much.. ..If Dbanj will accept 5M, I will pay him to push my brand to the world..why is 2face not on any label, he's by far the hottest artist in town now... I appreciate Glo though, but it's very wrong to just Over price and underprice.. They show no respect for the brand of dbanj.
ReplyDeleteNigerian Film and TV Addict, you have a point but i do not agree that he is not focused.
ReplyDeleteHe is focused just talentless.
All he has going for him is Don Jazzy and his gra gra (confused as swagger in Nigerian circles).
He can't sing, has lousy lyrics, can't play any instrument and his stage performance is not anything extraordinary.
In my view he has succeeded well beyond his meagre talents.
What i don't understand is how much value the Glo brand is deriving from all the millions they are dashing these celebs.
it his prerogative..good luck D'banj
ReplyDeleted'banj should marry biko or have a steady girlfriend... it is my bizness becos he looks like he needs guidance.
