Assault update: Lagos Assembly to sue actress over allegations of assault. They are claiming extortion and blackmail.

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday said it will take a legal action against claims made by Nollywood actress, Ufoma Ejenabor.
Addressing a media briefing on the issue, Segun Olusesi, the Chief of Staff of the Assembly, said the House will make the issue a deterrent case. The incident, which happened on October 29 on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, had two different accounts from the two parties.

While Ufoma claimed one of the vehicles (the Pilot) in the lawmakers' convoy hit her Nissan Xterra car, Mr. Olusesi, who claimed to be driving directly behind the Pilot vehicle said Miss Ufoma drove into the convoy, hitting the left rear of ‘the pilot ‘ vehicle's bumper with her right front bumper.

"Even if it is true that we hit her car, which cannot be proven from the video recording, when there is an accident on the road, the first thing you do is not to call a lawyer. So, it was obvious she was onto something right from the beginning and that was why the Speaker directed that everything be recorded," he said.

A rowdy scene ensued and rather than continue on their journey to Lagos University Teaching Hospital to visit an ailing lawmaker, who died three days later, the lawmakers decided to drive to Zone 2 Police headquarters at Onikan. As seen from the footage provided, the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lateef Junaid could not resolve the impasse as Mrs. Ejenabor refused all entreaties.

Though, Mrs. Ejenabor did not make any statement to the police, she claimed, in a letter dated November 2 and written to the Speaker by her lawyer, Obinna Ukawoko, that she was beaten and that her vehicle was damaged. She also alleged that the following items stolen: white gold necklace (N850,000), Silver Gucci wristwatch (N475,000), Pink Ipod (N55,000), Blackberry Bold (N150,000) and Channel Sunglasses ($1,215). She also claimed that her wedding band, worth £3,000 was broken and her damaged vehicle will be repaired for N595,000.

"We have our client's firm directive to demand N35million as compensation," said the letter, advising the Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, to quickly pay in order to avert imminent bad publicity and legal action.

Mr. Olusesi rebuffed all the claims, saying that the video showed Mrs. Ejenabor as she drove her car away from the police station without any visible damage and she still had her wedding band and bag while she was at the station.

"The photograph of her damaged car, as she claimed in the media, can be best described as insurance fraud and an attempt to extort and blackmail this Honourable House and the Right Honourable Speaker in particular," he said.

"Nobody touched her. At a time when the security officers were not sure what to do with her, one of them wanted to deflate her tyres, but the Speaker kept shouting from inside his vehicle that nobody should touch her vehicle." "If she was beaten by policemen as she claimed, she won't be the one to drive her vehicle to Zone 2 headquarters. Her dress was intact throughout and she claimed she was stripped. She alleged that her fingernails were broken but she refused to show the police. And if she was truly in pains as a result of the beating, she will not be able to put up such display at the police station." "She provoked everybody present, including the members of the public. She wanted to be beaten by the way she behaved but we were lucky and matured enough, especially because we were in a state of mourning and that is why we didn't give it to her."

  1. As seen from the footage shown, she was never assulted nor molested. I knew that somebody in the entourage of the Speaker filmed the scene. They filmed those scenes that are advantageous to them. I think the incident of Uzoma Okere spurred Ufoma into also wanting to 'exercise her fundamental human right'. But everybody cannot be as lucky as Uzoma. I am not justifying the actions of the assembly men, but based on the evidence available, I think she has no case.

  5. She was assaulted before the video was taken.A witness commented on facebook that she was beaten and her clothes were torn.

This pple are crazy so, she planned it and waited for the convoy to pass buy and then she placedher car infrom of their convoy abi...These fools are not used to pple standing up for their rights that is why they can say this type of SHIT!

  6. yup i agree with anon they filmed it to make her look bad...she has no case cuz it's about witnesses and evidence. they definitely prpared for her on this one. i hope she gets a good lawyer and her phone (hopefully the video she filmed is still there).i still think she overreacted definitely she was folowing the uzoma okere thingy but uzoma's own was filmed by another person, ufuoma filmed hers by herself...so sad.

  7. It is very obvious from this footage that it is one sided. Even if she was beaten up as she alleged, it would have been extremely difficult for her to record or film it while she was being beaten. It is instructive that this video must have emernated from the accused. However, in the law courts, Judgement would only been give in this case based on collaborative evidence. I dont trust Nigerian Politicians at all!

  12. since she was planning on playing the victim she should have acted like one.....if this video is the only evidence she has then she has been royally screwed.

@Y'all saying she was at fault. I bet to defer...Just pray you don't fall victim. Everyone knows how inhuman the Nigerian Police can be

The picture with her swollen face and injuries prooves she was beaten and assaulted. Moreso the video was taken after the assault. There is nothing in the video that speaks for the policemen, except Ufuoma's anger. And there's no law against anger. On the contrary, the video speaks AGAINST the policemen

The point is. Mrs Ufuoma WAS assaulted and she WILL DEF. get her justice.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ufoma don't cry abeg. That picture of her just break my heart.

I DO NOT BLAME HER FOR OVERREACTING. Do you know how many people have fallen victim to these embarassing touts that call themselves convoy policemen??? If she sat pretty, we will say she did nothing to defend herself.

Ufoma, i dey pray for you jere. FEAR NOT! They can't do nada to you. I bet they are saying," see dis small girl way won make we pay money for damages. say wetin?"

BUNCH OF ROUGES!! Those Assembly whatever people are a bunch of nonentities!!! Is it not girls her age that are banging their brains out and draining tax payers money on BBs, cars, rings, gold, watches and all what not. Rubbish.

And they think the public will watch them bully a clearly independent, hardworking girl. SHAME ON THEM ALL!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I feel Ufoma Ejenabor was assaulted and treated unfairly. Something did happened. I watched the video. The section where the incident took place was cleverly edited out. Their video is NOT from an independent witness and should not be relied on as evidence. Their intention is to fool the public. Lagos State House of Assembly should be ashamed of themselves for perverting the course of justice. This is bad, bad bad publicity for Lagos State House of Assembly, but they don't seem to see it. Ufoma Ejenabor should sue them. Politicians have been extorting, defrauding and blacmailing Nigeria for many years, so what if this is a fraud? Fraud my arse. Right "Honourable" Speaker, pay up.

  16. The bastards here who are acting like they do not know Nigeria. I have watched the President's motorcade pass and one unlucky driver who was on the road and could find a place to move had his windows shattered in one fell swoop by the police. The driver was covered in blood and glass and the bastards did not even stop. Kevin Obosi, I hope you or your family member fall victim and hopefully it will be something you never recover from

    ReplyDelete
  17. Her face is swollen only bcos she had been screaming and crying. I c no injuries

    ReplyDelete
  18. Common guys!!! its obvious the video footage was cut to suit the lagos state assembly. Walahi, our leaders are jobless, they should have settled, the initial amount could have been reduced during negotiations. To think that despite issues like this(abuse of police power) aunty Dora is claiming that our use of the word naij is damaging the world's view of our country, abi wetin she talk sef...*smh*

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kevin Obosi you don't have to call her a mad dog or an opportunist. I don't know when people will learn to say what's on their mind without sounding bitter and being insulting. The video is CLEARLY HEAVILY EDITED. Between the time she was filming with her phone and the time her car was driven across the covet, WHAT HAPPENED? Or is it her that drove her car and parked it there like that? Nigerian police and all those uniformed people can get u mad and disgusted at the way they treat civilians. I have experienced it before.

I was in CMS one morning, going to work when a police man was walking towards me from the opposite direction and brushed me. His uniform was not black sef it was green. I turned back and said "ahn ahn". Do u know this guy turned back and kicked me?? As in high kick to my waist! The okada guys there and passer-byes had to hold him back, if not he would have FINISHED me because he was struggling with them to let him go.

I cried not because of the kick but because of the injustice and the powerless feeling that I felt. People there started blaming me on top of it, telling me, "U think say na ur papa parlour u dey, u dey do sisi".

Back to Ufeoma, I hope someone else has the complete footage and I think she deserves every kobo she's asking for. It is well with Nigeria.

  23. @Kevin Obosi: From your previous comments, one can clearly see that you must be an illiterate.

Like Dude are you for real with those stupid comments. Did you really call her a mad dog.

Dude GTFOH! Like You must be one of those nigerian man that believe in walking all over women.

How dare you make such insane comments????

She was beaten and her cell phone was taken. The cops freaking assaulted her. If there is anyone that is a made dog here, it is the stupid people cops or whatever the hell they are called. You must have your brain upside down or something.

    Get a life..

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Kevin Is your father one of her alleged attackers or sumtn?
    Y all the insults? O_o

BTW there's absolutely nothing wrong with the mole on her face, so that comment was just dumb!

Anyone with half a brain cell can tell that video was one sided!
she was clearly screaming abt them having beaten her and taken away her blackberry.
    WTF?
    Why take her phone?

Yea it seemed like she was overreacting but in a LAWLESS society like Nigeria, OVER REACTING AND BEING OVERLY DRAMATIC is the only thing people understand!
Starting all d way from the airport to the streets!

No regular person can make it naija by staying "classy" all d time!
People will mop the floor with ur face and teeth!

In the words of Legendary Bob Marley, Get up! Stand up! Stand up for your rights, even if it means acting like all the screws in your head let loose. lol

Hmm I for do worse oo! My very own BB! My very own hard earned car w/o d help of a sugar daddy?
    Is U crazyyyyyyyyyy?? Lol

The video cracked me up no doubt but it is not a laughing matter.
It is a clear example of how women are being treated in Nigeria.

I really hope she wins this case!
    Arrant rubbish!

  25. Kevin Obosi, u are a big fool. stupid idiot. how dare u make such remarks? yes it is a free world, but ur comments are totally appalling. instead of u to show sympathy, u sit there and write rubbish. dimwit oshi.

  26. Linda Ikeji abeg no make me vex..put up a nu post nowwwww..OR else i will comment on this once more...

@ Olulesi...i bet ur a petty Chimp...ur so wrong in some comments you made..hear him..(i)"Nobody touched her. At a time when the security officers were not sure what to do with her, one of them wanted to deflate her tyres, but the Speaker kept shouting from inside his vehicle that nobody should touch her vehicle."
Verdit: Why should ur security killer agent want to deflate her tires..wny?

(ii) "If she was beaten by policemen as she claimed, she won't be the one to drive her vehicle to Zone 2 headquarters.
Verdit: One beaten by Olopa can still drive.

Let me jump over to the comment...
(iii) And if she was truly in pains as a result of the beating, she will not be able to put up such display at the police station." "She provoked everybody present, including the members of the public.
Vedict:Gibbrish...somebody in pains can still react that way..and she form ur bloddy info..she didnt provoke everybody present and didnt provoke the members of the public. She only provoke members of looting assembly. Beside if u hit a snake on the head..in pains the snake will react properly.

About the gentle man dpt police commisioner act to lure her into the station..abeg dat one na NAija story..ufoma sabi NAija olopa well well...had it been she entered dere, they will impound her car and can probably labelher a terrorist 4rm Nija-Delta.

finally..(iv) ''She wanted to be beaten by the way she behaved but we were lucky and matured enough, especially because we were in a state of mourning and that is why we didn't give it to her."
Verdict: Stupid comment. That shows his stupid mentality. Ur matured enuff and a state of mourning..soif not u will beat the hellout her and maybe ur police will shoot her to death..!!

    BAstards...

Its anonnying why ordinary politician in the looting house should drive with such convoy..its a disgrace! This ?diots should be made to jump bus..they is nothing wrong with that! They should terrorising the masses with ths timid behaviour!

Bye..bye..abeg make una no vex for my long comment..Linda no wan put up a new post!

  32. i am utterly SHOCKED to see this. Is she Bipolar or is she on drugs - i hope her oyibo husband is not giving her drugs because i am so shocked.

I thought she had class - i mean was it that BAD that she behaved like a lunatic - her behaviour looks worse than a person in an ASYLUM - gosh i am sooooo shocked.

I am so shocked. Though i believe the police were wrong as they always are - Every ounce of respect i had for Ufuoma Ejenorbor is gone out the window - I am not nigerian and if this is how some behave then i am utterly shocked. She was behaving like a lunatic - I am imagining now if my favourite actress Genevieve could possibly act like this too - i mean if it happened after seeing this i wont be surprised -

I guess its true what they say about Nigerian women - no difference btwn you and the akatas = CRAZE BE WHAT? I am scared of yall now - if Ufuoma could act like this then imagine raz girls like Tontoh and the rest.

I am so disappointed. I could not believe it was her acting like a MAD woman i had to watch it twice. If this was acting

LINDA PUT THE VIDEO WHERE PEOPLE CAN SEE.

oh i am so dissappinted in Ufuoma - I mean jeez she didnt have to act like a lunatic. This has definately tanished her holy sweet innocent reputation. Now i can definately beleive Chioma Akpotha is a bitch too like they say - cos if Ufuoma can act like this most definately i can now believe all i heard bout Chioma.

NOLLYWOOD = breed of RAZ ppl - i guess only 1 percent have class.

No wonder my naija best friend every time i am talking about Nollywood she just roles her eyes - she is from an elite family in naija and my stupid assumption is Nollywood is part of the elite too - after seeing this i guess they are all more gutter than i thought.

now i am imagining Tontoh dikeh and all the others.

  34. Well, that is Nigeria for you, everybody wants to be right. Ufomma might right or wrong but we don't have to jump into conclusion until after everything. But judging from the video i don't think a supposed role model like her sud react in that manner. Police and Ufy, pls let there be peace.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Whao - seriously was this a movie scene or what

Reading all these many comments, YES THE POLICE WERE VERY WRONG - BUT ISEE VERY FEW OF U COMMENTING ON UFUOMA'S LUNATIC BEHAVIOUR - WHICH GOES TO SHOW THIS BEHAVIOUR SHE SHOWED IS NORMAL AMONGST YOU NIGERIANS. INTERESTING INDEED - VERY UNCOUTH - YOU SPEND ALL YA MONEY ON CLOTHES AND SHOES AND COPY HOLLYWOOD LIKE YOU ARE CLASSY BUT CLEARLY MOST OF THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT CLASSY AT ALL. VERY VERY UNCOUTH

I MEAN NO MATTER HOW BAD THE SITUATION WAS (and i can bet the Police were wrong 100%) BUT CMON - IT DOESNT HAVE TO GET TO A POINT WERE YOU ACT LIKE A LUNATIC - UFUOMA SCARED THE SHYT OUT OF ME WITH HER BEHAVIOUR TOO.

Now if only she can put an OUNCE of that emotion in her real acting - she will win an OSCAR

  38. You all think this is bad? How about the current governor of Imo state and his mistreatment of a priest. The priest and others were in the middle of an unpaved road with others trying to fix a vehicle that had broken down. The governor and his entourage came upon them. Instead of exercising some commonsense and patience (as the vehicle was inoperable and the road was unpaved because the governor was not applying the money to paving of roads and stealing it instead), he had his policemen arrest the priest for "blocking" the road and threw him in jail. As if this wasn't bad enough, when people became outraged that a priest had been so maltreated, the governor and his henchmen tried to force the priest to sign a prepared letter accepting blame for things he did not do in order to make it appear that the priest was justifiably arrested. The priest was told that he would not be freed unless he signed the letter. When the priest refused, they stripped him naked and made him report to his bishop in his nakedness and forced him to return to the jail also naked. As if this wasn't bad enough, the governor had his people spread rumors that the priest was caught sleeping with a woman that was present when they came upon him on the road. The governor thought he could get away with this shit, but what he did has made plenty of people raging mad. I guess the governor realized that he had gone too far this time and went to the bishop to apologize for humiliating one of his priests. The bishop refused to accept his apology.

In Nigeria, politicians feel they are gods and are above the law. I pray for the day when Nigeria has its French Revolution so that corrupt politicians can be put to death.

As for the Ufoma lady, I find her credible. Even if there is a video showing her losing it, I think it is quite justified given the madness that is Nigeria. Imagine this, YOU live in a country with no or limited essential services and every day is a struggle to survive because the POLITICIANS are not using the people's money to provide basic comforts such as consistent lights, paved roads, clean and consistent running water, sewage system, healthcare system, decent school system, security, etc. Instead the politicians are using YOUR money to live lavishly in YOUR face and to keep YOU away they pay policemen to beat YOU if YOU do not move out of the way fast enough AND if YOU are beaten by the police YOU are often blamed and have no or limited recourse to seek justice. I believe that the weight of the daily struggle to survive in Nigeria coupled with the frustration and injustice of being beaten and then robbed by the police at the request of the politicians was too much for Ufoma to bear in that moment and she lost it. For those siding with the dirty politicians be very careful because YOU may find yourself in the same position as Ufoma.

  43. The woman IS a drama queen. I wouldn't be surprised if she concocted that tale. She once decided to post on her facebook wall, all the emails she had received from "admirers" and she and her friends were laughing at them. You can tell the sort of morality of a woman by that sort of action. She's a cheap tart and an attention seeker. Desperate women always do that.

  44. I want you guy to take note of the last word in the statement from the chief of staff where he states "She wanted to be beaten by the way she behaved but we were lucky and matured enough, especially because WE WERE IN A STATE OF MOURNING AND THAT IS WHY WE DIDN'T GIVE IT TO HER" This is crazy, he is even claiming that the men with them have the capability of beating anyone they choose to up. If she has a strong Lawyer I bet she'll make much more than 35mill been asked. It's time this uneducated and classless politicians start to feel our wrath....

  45. I watched this video, and I can confirm to you that this Actress is not a virtues woman, she is just famous. She does not deserve to be called a role-model. She behaved like a lunatic . Imean she has so much attachment to her car, ..........just because your car was brushed you lost your kool and challange men with gun. ,,, what if they kill you , you will just die for nothing... A respectable woman would have applied wisdom and tactic in order to fight lagos Govt.... She cant win AFENIFERE . she should rather enroll for anger management course.

  46. But oscar isnt it amazing that majority of naija fools on here agree and support her saying - that is the only way to get her point across.

THIS GOES TO SHOW YOU THIS IS THE NORM AMONGST MANY - THEY HAVE TO BEHAVE LIKE LUNATICS OR MAD PEOPLE TO GET THEIR POINT ACROSS. SPEAKS A LOT ABOUT NIGERIA - IF MAJORITY IDIOTS SUPPORT HER RAZZ BEHAVIOUR DO YOU THINK NIGERIA WILL EVER FIND PEACE. NO WONDER THE COUNTRY IS SO FKED UP COS THE AVERAGE PERSON THINKS TWO WRONGS MAKE A RIGHT.

I AM SO SURPRISE AT THE RESPONSES OF MANY HERE.

I AM NOT NIGERIAN BUT TO ME THIS IS PITIFUL the fact that many support her behaviour saying this is the only way to get her point across.

that is very classy of you all.

you have to act like a mad lunatic to survive in a nation like nigeria abi?

  47. Why is everyone surprised? I mean The behaviour of this girl (actress or whatever she is) is not different from the many of nigerians i have come across. Relying on which state your home is throughout, it may well possibly indeed be a good little and / or maybe much bigger little bit of your budget versus your neighbors spanning talk about outlines. What's the minimum for one's state? I have discovered this internet site valuable to figure out low-priced auto insurance. I am just content to be here.

  49. Lot of information about how to get cheap auto insurance? Getting your first car insurance policy may not be a priority but it should be. Car insurance protects one of your first investments, your car. But car insurance can be complicated and often new car insurance shoppers fail to compare car insurance rates and in turn fail to reap the financial benefits of finding the best and affordable car insurance available to them. Information here is great. Love to come back again.

  51. Do i have to get an auto insurance when i buy a used car? or else, they don't sell the car to a person who doesn't have an auto insurance? I currently have a lease car that will be returned this January next year. But i want to get a used car soon so that i can work on the car, but i won't be driving it around. The car will be in my garage until i return the lease car and get an auto insurance. I live in Philadelphia, PA
    Any suggestion?
